why don't you go back to scrolling instagram while meme accounts are paid by the government to brainwash you, your whole generation will be the next boomers with how badly you're gonna be psy-oped
No. It is what it is, a rough draft. Now of course a Norm rough draft is still much better than most peoples finished work but its not up to par with his best stuff.
It was fine. I laughed a few times. It needed a lot of refinement, but I'd rather get what we got than nothing at all. Feels fitting that his last "stand up" joke ever was about how much he loves his mother.
There are boot leg versions of most of these jokes done at small clubs. I love norm but his execution at those clubs was better since it had the audience to help with flowing from one joke to the next.
>dumb bumbling man actually is... LE SMART??? >*cuts to 30 minutes of comedians circlejerking each other comparing him to jazz*
wow, great special. thank you norm for your jazz
watched the first 10 mins at my parents house on memorial day at first I almost teared up like this is the last thing of norm, and the pic of all his friends. but then he like rambled on for 7 mins and at best i got a few chuckles
ill watch it eventually. ngl seeing norm old and blathering on about sports like a dementia patient is oof
Norm's standup was never the best part of his shtick, and you could tell he wasn't 100% for this considering he was dying, but it was fine. Wouldn't watch it again, won't remember any joke from it in a few weeks from now, but worth watching.
idk where this “norm’s standup wasn’t that great” meme started but the Hitler’s Dog special on netflix is some of the funniest standup I ever saw
although, my favourite Norm stuff was definitely Norm MacDonald Live, talk show appearances and stuff
He's asking self-proclaimed "friends" of norm about whether they know his process you absolute buffoon. Dave was clearly a fan of Norm's comedy and asked the only good questions, like his process, and the nature of it being without an audience etc. Chapelle was the fucking autist of the group with his mongoloid non-anecdotes and "Whooaa mayne he a jazz or sumthin. I WAS INCONSOLIBLE" what a self-absorbed retard he is.
>how would this have gone over in a live setting? >haha yea but how would this have been live?? >but live how would these jokes have been if he was telling them live? >what we just watched…. how would it have been live?
wow thanks Letterman great questions very insightful discussion
I don't think it was his best work, but it had no audience. His pace was sped up by not having laugh breaks or pauses. The material was good. He had plenty of call backs and suggestive gags. He poked at trans. He touched on a ton of stuff and his closer was pretty brilliant if you break it down. He knew he was on his way out, so it was easy for him to mislead you. The group therapy at the end was weird. Dave Chappelle said some good stuff, so did Conan. Letterman had too much old man stuff to say. The rest were kinda worthless. Joe Dirt had some stories, i guess. Norm loved Molly for sticking up for him with SNL, but she spoke like twice. Adam seemed high or speechless. It was weird. The actual special was great. One take with no cuts and he never checked any notes. Him playing to an audience would have helped. Now I sound like Letterman.
Never was a big fan of his standup (especially not his later stuff) but the talkshow was fantastic and I respect and appreciate him for who he was, so would gladly watch it.. if I had Netflix
I stoped watching after a few minutes. You can tell he knows the end is close, and I think his act later in his career is really dependent on having a conversation with another person. Norm can say something like, “how green is an evergreen? You know?” Then Conan can just nervously laugh and ask him what he’s talking about.
It was pretty average Norm for me. Not his best work, but I laughed a few times. It was made more significant though that he wanted to get his latest work out before he died.
It was never supposed to be about the jokes, both the producers and the guest mentioned it, I don't understand how you can misunderstand the first thing you're told.
This special was nothing more than a window into Norm's mind in a difficult part of his life.
I liked it very much, it was good to hear Norm for one last time, see where he stands on the current sociopolitical issues and most of all it's very much good to see that he still kept his optimism when facing what was for sure a very pushing problem. A great man that accepted his fate gracefully, that's what the special was supposed to be about and to think that it was ever going to be about him telling jokes you'd have to be retarded - not retarded but you'll have to have Down's Syndrome .
I'm shocked by how good it was even though it was just him in front of his computer with no audience. Also the way Dave Chappelle talked about him afterwards is sweet.
stand up sucks. hate the format. humor is best when it appears spontaneous. there is nothing spontaneous about stand up, every single movement is planned and rehearsed. fucking hate it
Norm by himself was never as funny as Norm interacting with others. I did laugh a few times, his delivery was so good that even shit jokes became funny. The other part with all his "friends" was terrible. It's funny that most of them were there because they have Netflix deals. Letterman was terrible
It was utter shit. I turned it off after 5 minutes
'Gets good at the 6 minute mark.

FUCK bananas!
No. It is what it is, a rough draft. Now of course a Norm rough draft is still much better than most peoples finished work but its not up to par with his best stuff.
based sports show enjoyer. norms best works are weekend update, dirty work, tom green live appearances, ridiculous, and sports show.
His call-ins to Dennis Miller are great as well.
It was fine. I laughed a few times. It needed a lot of refinement, but I'd rather get what we got than nothing at all. Feels fitting that his last "stand up" joke ever was about how much he loves his mother.
>get it guys Im a terrible comedian so my entire personality is anti humor
ripbozo
explain to the folks at home what anti humor is
I love love love Norm. This should never have been aired. Standup needs an audience
There are boot leg versions of most of these jokes done at small clubs. I love norm but his execution at those clubs was better since it had the audience to help with flowing from one joke to the next.
It seemed more like a sketch he wanted to get down. I guess at least his son probably got some money from it.
Yeah I wanted to hear more from Sandler and Spade.
>I guess at least his son probably got some money from it.
his daughter, you bigot
It was kind of depressing
norm is dead and he was never funny just an anti joke retard
Didn't laugh once
>dumb bumbling man actually is... LE SMART???
>*cuts to 30 minutes of comedians circlejerking each other comparing him to jazz*
wow, great special. thank you norm for your jazz
>cuck joke
hmmm
sperm mccuckold
his podcast and talk show appearances were always his best work, I was never much for his standup but it was nice to have more norm
yea i agree, he was best when contrasting with other people.
He was a good voice actor too
It was an amusing chunk of coal but if he polished it it would be a hillarious diamond of a special.

Hard disagree, Norm’s standup bit on killing a woman and burying her in the woods is the funniest shit I’ve ever heard
idk where this “norm’s standup wasn’t that great” meme started but the Hitler’s Dog special on netflix is some of the funniest standup I ever saw
although, my favourite Norm stuff was definitely Norm MacDonald Live, talk show appearances and stuff
second segment would be better if david letterman and molly shannon weren't there.
Letterman is autistic
it's like he doesn't know how to not act like a talk show host
Every gem spoken came out of his mouth. You're like a child. He asked all the good questions about what they had all just seen.
why the fuck is he asking questions like an interviewer? it's not like norm is there to answer
He's asking self-proclaimed "friends" of norm about whether they know his process you absolute buffoon. Molly Shannon was barely there
I don't think it was his best work, but it had no audience. His pace was sped up by not having laugh breaks or pauses. The material was good. He had plenty of call backs and suggestive gags. Anyone that hasn't listened to most of Norm's material should have no opinion on this matter, especially Zoomers.
boomers introduction to your average twitch stream

Yeah, he needed someone to bounce off on and play with for his greatness to shine.
I just find his stand-up depressing, especially his later stuff.
tex hooper is his masterpiece.
Did he die from Covid Vax?
>Yet
It was pretty average Norm for me. Not his best work, but I laughed a few times. It was made more significant though that he wanted to get his latest work out before he died.
It was more of a comment really.
The sluts joke got me pretty good.
I liked the women comedian one

I couldn't watch it was sad because he was by himself in a room, no interaction with a crowd, Adam Eget or Letterman in contrast.
I'm shocked by how good it was even though it was just him in front of his computer with no audience. Also the way Dave Chappelle talked about him afterwards is sweet.
stand up sucks. hate the format. humor is best when it appears spontaneous. there is nothing spontaneous about stand up, every single movement is planned and rehearsed. fucking hate it
I like your take. Stand up taught me one simple rule for jokes that I've taken with me, but other than that I agree.
Norm by himself was never as funny as Norm interacting with others. I did laugh a few times, his delivery was so good that even shit jokes became funny. The other part with all his "friends" was terrible. It's funny that most of them were there because they have Netflix deals. Letterman was terrible
