        https://filmschoolrejects.com/30000-kids-will-see-black-panther-thanks-charity

That's one example. That's at least 400k in sales funded through charity, not actual ticket sales, tickets bought on masse for a narrative. Now, "isolated incident" you might say? Except if you google there's dozens of other charities and celebrity purchases where politically motivated individuals bought out entire theaters to make it seem like the movie was a success.

But you know what they didn't spend the money on? Any of the merchandise for either film. If kids like Black Panther then why don't any of them want his fricking toys? Lmfao. They still buy toys for other characters so you can't drop that cope.

Estimates are worthless, educated guesses. Both movies came out a while back, do you have an article with some actual figures? If the estimate turned out to be correct there would be articles giving the numbers.

The toys meanwhile do prove that they didn't sell. I'm amazed I have to explain this to you, but you see that yellow sticker? That means they had to cut prices because no one was buying the merchandise. They don't put stuff that's selling well on clearance. The clearance aisle is for scented candles that smell like ass, novelty foods and drinks no one bought, and evidently, Black Panther toys. D'ya get it yet?

Half as much. Since Rise no Star Wars movie has been successful and the shows are widely panned, the ratings are in the toilet for all of them even Mandalorian now. The one bright spot is no longer a success. Plus there was that massive multi-billion dollar bomb with the Star Wars hotel they finally shut down.

TLJ is worse than Attack of the Clones. Do you really enjoy that movie? I've given it a shot multiple times and that 'yo Mama' joke really sets the tone for the movie. Rushed and juvenile. There's no such thing as a bad idea, only horrible execution and the execution of TLJ was horrendous, but Rise beats it on that level.

The sequel trilogy is the best example of soulless cash grab garbage

                Anonymous

Now you're just naming one part of execution. Execution holds a lot to it not just the cinematography. Score, acting, writing plot/dialogue/character arcs, cinematography, choreography, utilizing the rules of the universe.

Just because something looks beautiful doesn't mean it's perfect in any way. A quick and easy example of this is women.

Loads of hot girls have shit souls. I count myself very lucky to snag the fiance I have. Gorgeous, with a good soul, church goer and talks shit about films when something is dumb or poorly executed. Before her I was dealing with attractive women with shit souls. Hot face, hot bods, but horrible critical thinking skills and highly arrogant and ignorant.

Just because something is pretty on the outside, it doesn't mean it's pretty on the inside. And that's the huge problem with TLJ. Shit writing when it comes to dialogue/plot/character arcs, shit choreography, mild score.

TLJ is nothing spectacular like you think it is anon, you were just wowed by the fireworks

        >Interest in Star Wars waning futher and further with every shitty tv show put up after TLJ (as is evident of the lower and lower quality effects & qc check on scripts/writing.)
You can argue Force Awakens wasn't that great and stumbled out of the gate a little, but the end result was still people hyped up and eager to see the next episode of the trilogy, as is evident of the money TLJ made. Rise of Skywalker's returns fell off a cliff comparatively speaking, which indicative TLJ left such a bad taste in people's mouths everyone was done with the IP. So yeah, TLJ pretty irrefutably crashed the franchise with no survivors

Black Panther had charities and celebrities buy out tickets. It's literally a manufactured success. It wasn't one or two cases, there are dozens of different individuals and groups who tried to manufacture it's success, but the toys didn't sell indicating it didn't really connect with kids.

Captain Marvel was riding the success of a franchise that until then had churned out hit after hit. People always give something new within a franchise they're already committed to a chance, but that movie marked the end of the MCU's good will. It was after that the bombs began. Brie Larson's youtube following collapsed, she became widely hated, Ms. Marvel premiered on Disney+ to a dull thud. It's the least watched show on the entire service. The sequel was downgraded from Captain Marvel 2 to an ensemble cast "The Marvels" the trailer to which is the single most disliked MCU trailer ever.

It's literally more true this year based on fbi stats than it was last year.
As well blacks literally serve the least social utility as a demographic what so ever as an objective fact.

If african films started to make more and more characters white that were once black and increasingly doing it over a decade the majority would have a reason to be suspicious.

                >Ok now you've just changed your argument
I didn't make the original argument, I saw you gaslighting someone with that "Why do you care? It's for kids." crap, but by being here in this thread arguing about it you're demonstrating you are about something "for kids" just from the other side. Parents care what their kids watch. You don't have kids though. So normal people have an excuse, it's you who by your own words is a fricking weirdo.

                >If you care so much how about you act as a competent parent for once in your life instead of depending on the IPad to do all the work, and simply not allow them to watch the movie? Is that really so hard?
Lol, complete strawman, that's besides the point. People complain to get this shit to stop happening so that Disney will go back to releasing shit they'll want to show to their kids. Disney has been putting out bomb after bomb recently. Lightyear, Raya, Turning Red, Mulan, Pinocchio, Peter & Wendy, Strange World, parents are rejecting the shit, and simultaneously saying "This is WHY we're rejecting your shit." You're just trying to get them to stop complaining because it's hurting your political causes. Otherwise, what the frick does your incel ass have to whine about?

I still don't understand how rotten tomatoes percentages work. Critics don't even all use the same scales. Some are out of 10, some out of 5, some out of 3 or 4. How do they convert all of that into a single consistent percentage?

So it's based on the arbitrary feelings of how some random pajeet at rotten tomatoes perceives the tone of the review and has nothing to do with actual numbers? What a fricking scam.

          Anonymous

I mean the entire point of a review is to convey whether or not you liked the film, no? What's arbitrary about that?

            Anonymous

Reviews aren't always decisively positive or negative, many involve mixed reception or a variety of pros and cons. That's why reviews are summarized with numbers on a scale rather than just a binary good/bad. Unless you're crunching objective numbers like Metacritic does then you're literally just leaving it up to interpretation; two people could read the same review and each come away with a different impression on whether it seemed positive or negative.

              Anonymous

              >two people could read the same review and each come away with a different impression on whether it seemed positive or negative.
That's a shitty review then. The main objective is to convey whether the person recommends the film or not.

                Anonymous

Even recommendations occur on a sliding scale, it's never totally black and white. If it were that simple then movies wouldn't be rated on multi-point scales and every review would end with, "Yes, I recommend this," or "No, I do not recommend this." Reviews and scores are more nuanced than that.

It's this weird pseudo-fascism of yours that's disheartening to be around.

My trainer trained military police in the middle east, which was great to hear, many implications.

I would definitely talk shit in front of you about Disney black washing characters and how insulting it is to black people.

Corporations basically saying "there's nothing for you so let's take white characters and make em black!"

Yet there's many historical figures that are black you can make movies about and many African myths you can cover, a good amount of black super heroes too.

The redundancy of cash grabs and victimizing blacks is pathetic.

By choosing a concrete monkey to culturally appropriate a danish story? yeah, replacing ginger’s or any redhead character in most movies is just because all of those brown actors just so happen to be sooo good, right? because i’m the one with ulterior motives, not Hollywood, lol.

All is this seems to be in the context of telling the native population they have to embrace being replaced by immigrants.

If you're just an average white person living in a majority white society (especially during a time period where this was even more true), then there's really not much to emphasize. They just are white.

Considering the original story is only 9000 words, having 5 references to how white she is is pretty significant. And that was just me looking for "white". There are several times where she is described as "pale" and other similar adjectives.

That’s not what’s happening though, and you know that. They do this to displace white, European characters, theres always some “audition” to give such a. bill shri excuse, they would never replace a written black character with a white one.

It is in fact impossible for a black person to beat a white person in the role of a white redhead mermaid unless they chose to change it for their own sake. It's not a fricking monty python sketch where they have the same group of guys play men, women, different nationalities, or whatever and you accept it because that's how they do it. It's a world that exists from a story that was made into a movie and now that movie is being remade. If they shit all over the simple concept of genetics then it's offputting and lazy. Frick they didn't even make her dad black or her sisters. They clearly had a goal of race-swapping ariel for woke points and that deserves criticism. Look at Ursula when she turns into Ariel, even she isn't the same race as Ariel. The whole thing makes zero sense and you're defending trash.

They're consistently racebending characters from white to non-white while never doing the inverse. It's far from just The Little Mermaid. We've got a mestiza Snow White coming up. We just had Pajeeter Pan and black Tinkerbell. The Percy Jackson books star three white kids. In Disney's new show, only Percy is white. I'm sure that's all just a coincidence and not a reflection of DIE quotas.

Have you not noticed how they keep propping up these people as giant movie stars? Who the frick cares about Awkwafina or Phoebe Waller-Bridge? Hollywood seems to be enamored with these mediocre people and are desperately trying to make them the next big movie star.

There’s always an “audition” for White written characters that isn’t just straight up political ham fisted inclusivity quotas, all of which are anti-white narratives if you see what they’re aimed for.

I think the REAL conspiracy is thinking political realities like test scores that equate disparities means that they’re somehow racist wouldn’t eventually be applied to movies, like how Black actors aren’t being represented in European stories is bad, and it needs to change so we must change the source material.

It really shows how broad civil rights regulations failed to deliver the promise of racial equality and broad-scale societal cohesion. Moderate progressive are furiously trying to cover their asses with appeals to the latest outrage, while promising that the halcyon utopia of the "Nordic Model" is just around the corner, so long as the middle class pays out for the next activist boondoggle. But really, the problems go deeper. And the extent of the left’s ideological failures can now be directly witnessed in the products of progressive educational institutions and cultural instructions.
