I'm convinced this was supposed to be the last season but then viewership went up and they forced them change the script at the last minute to make season 5.
That explains the 2.5 hour final episode and 001 surviving and all this other shit.

I watch it but I'm not sure why, it is terribly written and 101% derivative
The trailer was kino AF though with the Journey remix

It's not self-contained like the other seasons, and thus unfortunately it's quality is contingent on how much of a payoff S5 gives.

Too many characters doing nothing. The entire Russia thing was moronic.

Would've been better if they just cut the entire hopper story line and left him dead. They didn't even provide a reasonable explanation for how he didn't die, or how the Russians got him out of the mall with it swarming with US miliatry.

Duffer Brothers are too scared to write anything with actual stakes.

    >Well, if you’re in agreement that there are way too many characters in Stranger Things 4, you aren’t alone, because Millie Bobby Brown shares the same sentiment. In a recent interview with The Wrap, the Stranger Things star said:
“Last night, we couldn’t even take one group picture because there was like 50 of us. I was like, ‘You need to start killing people off’. The Duffer brothers are two sensitive Sallies that don’t want to kill anyone off. We need to be Game Of Thrones. “We need to have the mindset of Game Of Thrones… they tried killing David [Harbour] off and they brought him back. It’s ridiculous.”

    >Matt Duffer, one of the show’s co-creators (with his brother Ross Duffer), has responded to Millie Bobby Brown’s comments in an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. When asked about her remarks about their reluctance to kill off some of the characters, he had quite a lot to say:
“She said we were ‘sensitive’ Sallies’. She’s hilarious. Believe us, we’ve explored all options in the writing room.” He went on to say, “We aren’t Game Of Thrones. This is Hawkins, it’s not Westeros. The show [would become] not Stranger Things anymore, because you do have to treat it realistically, right? So even when Barb dies, there’s two seasons worth of grappling with that, so imagine — is that something we’re interested in exploring or not interested in exploring?”
    >“This is me basically defending myself against these Millie Bobby Brown accusations,” he later joked. “It’s nothing to do with my sensitivity. So there you go Millie.”
Duffer brothers are a bunch of cucks

the boys and stranger things both excel at making a hooking pilot or season starting episode and proceeding to deliver a whole load of mediocrity afterwards

lol at least in stranger things when characters die they die

in the boys nobody ever dies except characters that nobody cares about.

          >papa

we never saw him die in season 1 although that was pretty much bullshit

the boys constantly pull cliffhangers with characters and then characters are fine next episode.

the show was never great, it's always been predictable, contrived, drawn-out, and carried by its cast, with occasional genuinely good ideas.

Retconning the mind flayer into just some rando spider that vecna made was the most boring route they could take

The implication that max is now just an empty shell after 11 tried to bring her back could go well if they actually have the balls to go darker

I disagree. It was good, Vecna is a great villain, a few of the old characters were still worthy of emotional investment, and the new cast members were great.

Worst parts from worst to least worse were: Eleven (total regression of character development after leaving Cali), Mike being worthless and Will being reduced to homosexual flare, Jonathan and Nancy taking up the show when they should have quietly exited between seasons, and the Russia plot going nowhere and generally making as much sense as a late GoT episode.

Max, Eddie, Chrissy, Steve, and Dustin were all fantastic. Argyle dudeweed bro was funny. Yes, funny quipshit is not inherently bad, contrary to what marvel crap would have you believe. If they hadn't included le wacky russian I think people would have warmed up to him better.
