Great at first, really engaging and a really unique interpretation of the character. Some really interesting ideas and introduction of esoteric themes make sure it stays interesting and gives it enough depth for you to want to know more. Completely drags in the middle without much focus or sense and just kinda ends. Probably 20 chapters too long, you probably could go without all the minotaur stuff since it goes nowhere and serves very little purpose.
>great at first, drags, then just kind of ends
10/10 summary. I really loved what they did with Betty right out the gate, and I was invested because it seemed apparent how that plotline was going to play out.
Instead it just kind of never does? Bruce never comes to terms with how his actions have affected Betty over the years, and all we get is some half-assed talk from Joe of all Hulks. Then she just dips. Felt supremely wasted
Don't even get me started on Devil Hulk's "conclusion."KHY WKM
I really wanted to see Betty and Bruce reconcile. Technically they still love each other very much, but Bruce specially (because the rest of him is already on the same page) needed to accept all of Betty
One of the best Marvel runs of the last years and certainly the one that will be used to measure future Hulk runs (as it's already happening). Hardly see it aging badly like it happened with some
Aaron's Thor, though that was his own fault given his lousy writing in Avengers.
A lot of people here hate the run for dumb and superficial reasons though, and whenever they're brought up (things like "white privilege" and social themes), they act like they deserve to have an opinion on the matter despite being told that those things they complain about are specifically called out in the series.
When Immortal Hulk was coming out, it was the last time we had threads hitting max replies for single issues almost consistently for a Marvel series. Only other threads to achieve this are the X-Men threads, but those are multiple series being posted weekly, not just one. It was a great time to post in this board, although Cinemaphile has a short memory and likes to pretend otherwise.
Pretty good, the ending was kinda eh, the retcon that Banner and Sterns are related is pretty whatever, and I didn't care much about TOBA being just TOAA's evil side, but overall, it's a very fun run even with the hiccups, the characters are well written, the pacing is good, the horror angle is interesting... Hell it's even a story that you can get into without knowing much about Hulk, I certainly knew barely anything and still thought it was a fun read.
Should've stayed with the gamma hunter storyline. Would've been kino if it was just Bruce interacting with every gamma mutate and notable foes all throughout. Esoteric shit was bad and reeks of pseudo. I was willing to accept that gamma has somewhat mystical properties then Ewing started diving into it too much and it ruined the neat little mystique of it.
I was hyped af when it came out. But there are few things I didn't like:
1) typical pushing of SJW garbage by Ewing made me too mad
2) fights were trash and could have been handled much better
3) loose threads like Hulk teaming up with Namor, Betty talking to Bruce etc
4) shit rushed ending
5) Ewing killed off the best boy Devil
It's strong 8.5/9 in my book and one of the best runs Marvel published recently, but it easily could've been 10/10.
I will never forget how Ewing crapped his pants by "coming out" as bisexual just so no one cancels him in the future.
-Aren't you married?
-Yes.
-So you had sex with men previously?
-Nope
-homie how are you bisexual then
-Well I've thought about men few times
And I think about offing myself every Tuesday. On Friday I think about robbing a bank. Still doesn't mean shit. homie is probably 50 and coming out as LGBTQ^$3_ member
Yh I agree they should not have killed Devil I really liked him he was cool and took no bullshit from anyone and didn't hold back also was one of the og alts was there since the beginning
Not really, it just means Cinemaphile is obsessed with that shit. The run was solid, but apparently three panels out of a 50-issue run is what they can talk about because they lack reading comprehension.
But we know that's not true because we had long threads every week talking about the issue in full, so this is just selective memory at play; didn't help that Bennett came out as a hardcore Bolsonaro fan and that broke reactionary fans' brains in here.

agreed, though I felt the ending was rushed more than anything

Awesome. Only downside? We didn't get Wolverine having a talk with Hulk like Ben did
they interacted... briefly. In that god-awful Hulkverines comic
The first volume was uninteresting, so I skipped to the future chapter in space.
Didn't care for it.

I've never thought of them as hulkish body horror, but it's fitting.
He's crossed over and is with the one below all.

It was great to follow it in the stroytimes
Frick Cates and frick Starshite Hulk
Like it or not, it was one of the handful of recent titles to regularly get this places attention for reasons not entirely negative
It was the only time I was interested in reading a Hulk comic
Still the best since PAD and Mantlo.
I wish Cates wasn't the one to pick up from him.

I’m not going to shit my pants over trannies in a book about body horror and monsters

This is definitely not how bisexuality works, imbecile.
Also why would anyone cancel Ewing? Are you fricking out of your minds?
By that logic you're not straight because you're an Intel and you never fricked a woman.
not just trannies
you forgot "mah white privilige" to be a monster
She was supposed to be wrong in that scene
doesn't make that scene less cringe tho
And what about other scenes, anon? It wasn't the only one from 50 issues
What other scene?
Not that anon.
If I remember right any scenes with social commentary are very short. They practically feel like part of some contractual obligation.
Yh I agree they should not have killed Devil I really liked him he was cool and took no bullshit from anyone and didn't hold back also was one of the og alts was there since the beginning
Devil was too OP, Ewing had to get rid of him sadly
You know I'm trans, right?
It start well but get awful every time the story stop focusing on Hulk or The Leader.
I like the xemmu arc the best, probably the best modern take on that guy
I stopped bothering trying to talk about this because people like to derail the thread with culture war shit and the same 1-2 panels
That means the other stuff isn't good enough.
Not really, it just means Cinemaphile is obsessed with that shit. The run was solid, but apparently three panels out of a 50-issue run is what they can talk about because they lack reading comprehension.

All I know about this is that the artist was cancelled and writer wienerblocked him

yes I would love to get with sexy robots
I really liked it
