Dan Harmons midwit narcissist power fantasy was carried by exceptionally talented writers that left after season 2 and there's been like 10 seasons now so no it's not a good show

      >10 seasons
That’s fricking nuts. I watched 2 seasons, never felt like starting s3 mostly because I heard about the pickle rick stuff, but I didn’t think it’d been that long ago.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head.
There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance.
The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons.
I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. XD
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😉

I don't get why people hate season 3 so much. The therapist rant is cringy but it was otherwise fine. I couldn't finish season 4, though.

No it's just hazbin hotel for teenage boys instead of girls. It pretends to be mature but its themes are very juvenile. Also I'm pretty sure the showrunner is a pedophile and a cuck (like an actual cuckold fetishist.)

It was a good show for its first three seasons.

It had one good season. Then it becomes extremely shallow and banal as apparently the show runners simply didn’t have the skill to maintain a comedy sci-fi cartoon in a long running fashion. This is evident from season 2 onwards as the writers rely heavily on meta-commentary and deconstructionism in order to keep up with the content schedule. The hilarious part is that people who create post-modernism are under this illusion that is somehow a reflection of intelligence when in the fact the opposite is true. It’s extremely tacky and lazy and just goes to show that they simply didn’t have the creativity to keep the original spirit of the show alive. It aged poorly while simultaneously still managing to be on the air.

I remember it having a lot of hype until it was clear that the showrunners were just constantly trolling the viewers

I didn't mind it. It's one of the few modern animated shows that was worth watching. Not sure where all the anal pain came from. I blame gays and americans.

I still watch it and enjoy it. Certainly there are some dud episodes (Rise of the Numbericons was a real stinker) but for the most part I still find it funny and creative.

Creative being the key word. I think people would be hard pressed to argue that the show isn't a creative sci-fi anthology. Obviously a lot of the dude weed fanbase is annoying but the people behind the show come up with some unique ideas that I enjoy.

there is a difference between creativity and random nonsense.
Also the show has been re-treading old ideas for quite a while now which is the opposite of creativity.

I got into the show a few months before season 5 came out. I liked seasons 1-3. Each of them was a mix of good and bad episodes, but the good ones were usually well worth the rest of the season. Season 4 had a larger proportion of underwhelming episodes. I watched the first episode of season 5 when it launched, didn't care for it, and never saw anything else from the season. Or the show. I know nothing of it since s5e1.

Overall, it was a good show (seasons 1-4). There's much worse stuff out there, and it's definitely not the best. But it deserves recognition for the creativity it had, and for how good the best episodes were.

The new season without Justin's ad-libbing is extremely noticable and feels like something is always off. The new voice actors are good but you can tell they are just reading a bad script. Maybe two episodes are watchable

nah, the new season advances the rick and morty lore in a way that adhd roiland would never be able to, if he was still on the show it'd just be racy offensive jokes and burping noises

In comparison, South park was good for at least 10 seasons, maybe 14 seasons, and then very inconsistent after that. the first 2 seasons of rick and morty are great/good but I couldn't even get through season 3

south park was consistently inconsistent. what saved it before season 18 was the fact if jokes were bad, you'd never see them again. now when jokes are bad, they're in every episode of the season, and sometimes next season too.
