in a vacuum? No. But the well is poisoned, so however earnest it could have been, we know for a fact that they jerked themselves off over how gay and inclusive it was thus invalidating it.

In a vacuum? Absolutely. It was an illogical montage turned into a "emotional masterpiece of television writing" by brainlets.

It was worse than bad. Couldn’t make it though one scene of the ugly girl. The only thing she said was the word frick. Shut it right off. Didn’t even make it to the episode with the two dudes from the office tenderly making out. Nope.

Well i personally think they handled his character better in the show then in the game but the gay shit was out of no where.

In a vacuum? they couldnt breathe because there is no air, they need to exchange the oxygen that is already in their lungs.

It suffers from the same problem a lot of road series suffer from. The environments and situations the roamers we’re supposed to root for are more interesting than the roamers themselves.

Like the revolution plot line, way more interesting than whatever the other two were doing

are we still pretending Ep 3 wasn't the only good episode in this otherwise extremely boring by-the-book zombieslop that couldn't even reach early Walking Dead level?

It would have been just as mediocre if it were a straight couple

this is what i always tell people, and i ask them if they thought it was good just because they were gay. if it were a man and a woman eating strawberries and hugging and kissing for an entire episode and then just dying and adding nothing to the story, it would still be fricking boring and dumb.

Thinking back now it doesn't bother me because other stuff was much worse, so it doesn't stick it out. Everything with the super intimidating fat girl/Henry plotline was either outright bad or done poorly and that's all I really think about with the show now.

I feel like they could have both the original game's section and what they tried to do here, have the flashbacks of Bill and Frank's relationship but instead of having both of them committing suicide, have Frank get bitten by an infected and having to be put down , or killed due to another of raiders attack due to Bill becoming a little careless for Frank's peaceful and kind nature, which would make him feel consumed by the guilt and pain, becoming again the hostile and antisocial guy he used to be by the time he meets Joel and Ellie, and reaching the same sad conclusion of the game that in the end, it's better to be on your own in this kind of world,

That way you can still get both to expand his character, drawing the parallelism between him and Joel, and get the funny dynamics between him and Ellie

the first episode gave me such incredibly high hopes for a realistic, high production value series. then we got gay ron swanson and a lesbian mall date. i'm still probably gonna watch s2, but i won't be as disappointed by the episodes about trans rights and racism because i will just skip them entirely this time.

People pretending guys can experience love is so funny. Love is between a man and woman. Gays just have fetishism.

Muh great love story between bearded gays
If this were the same script but with a straight couple no one would have cared.
If they did a mixed race couple depending on the couple it might have gotten a little meh.
But people and the media only blow this up because it was gays.

  23. 7 months ago

That episode was filler even in their own story. The show lacked action and conflict. IT would have been better if most of it were them defending the property from the raiders. You don't get a pass for gay points. The actors could have made this an interesting episode of television, but the writing was determined to be 100% filler to the gay altar.

    Game Bill
    >Lost someone special to him once, revealed to be his 'partner' Frank who killed himself after getting infected. Bill drove Frank away because of his hardcore survival attitude, and Frank's death only drove Bill further into isolation. Bill's purpose in the narrative is to serve as a mirror to Joel.
    Show Bill
    >Uhh well you see Bill is a bear and Frank is the twink. Bill found Frank in one of his traps and within 2 hours they're having sex with each other. They spend years together without much trouble from infected (what zombie apocalypse?) and even having Joel and Tess around for dinner parties. Bill never interacts with Joel and Ellie together at all so he can't serve as a factor informing Joel's decisions later on the story. Bill's purpose in the narrative is to get ass fricked on camera and be Emmy bait.
