I disagree. Evil dead 1 at least doesn't try to blend the two genres like the second film does. For that I consider it better than 2 but not better than army of darkness
I'm just being honest with you. Normally I'm not that big of a contrarian but I just genuinely don't care of evil dead 2 that much. Perhaps it's because I had such high expectations due to people saying it's the best one?
I saw 1 and 2 both way after I saw army of darkness and neither came close to it for me
>Ackchully, Evil Dead 2 is the worst >Blending genres is….. LE BAD
Contrarians on Cinemaphile never disappoint
1 shits all over 2. it's better paced and it goes much harder. the only edge 2 has is comedy and it's not all that funny. by the time the others show up at the cabin the film turns to absolute boring shit
Army of Darkness is truly unique because it drops the pretense of being a "horror" movie and just has fun with horror-themed settings and effects and an absurdly likeable protagonist. There is barely even any blood or gore but it thrives on its special effects and creative scenarios. I guess Pirates of the Carribean is the closest thing with its zombie pirate bad guys.
To be fair, them getting NR ratings on the prior movies did frick the reach of the movies. But yeah, I like AOD but would have preferred more fun Raimi gore
I also hate when covers have nothing to do with the movie, thats why I try to imagine a new scene that would feet the cover or an entire different movie.
Nope.
As a kid, this one used to be my favorite of the trilogy, now it's Army of Darkness. Shit's just hilarious.
Never found evil dead 2 to be that great. It's just 1 with a higher budget. Much prefer army of darkness
Evil Dead 1 is the worst of the trilogy

It's completely different tonally
A challenger appears.
Army of Darkness isn't a horror movie at all, it's just a screwball comedy. Raimi went too far, Evil Dead 2 is the best of the trilogy.

>barely even any blood
there's still plenty, MPAA still refused to give it a PG13

based, frick them cowards to cut the gore for profits, I love when this happens

well you have the mummy too
It always bugged me how there was never a skeleton with human eyes anywhere to be found in the movie
I prefer Braindead
I also hate when covers have nothing to do with the movie, thats why I try to imagine a new scene that would feet the cover or an entire different movie.
It scared me as a child anon, I always avoided the section of blockbuster where it was kept.
I agree evil dead 2 is a good movie but I think army of darkness is a much better movie
Yep
The Return of the Living Dead
And it's not even close.
the script in this movie is so fricking good, all the old actors are so relatable and funny
I remember coming across this movie by accident as a kid and instantly became one of my favorites. Tarman is so awesome.
I think most caught it by chance on the TV or by randomly renting it on VHS, even today it's not mentioned much.
evil dead 1 at least doesnt have that awful demon on a string, wtf was Raimi thinking?
You guys think evil dead rise will be any good?
Early screenings have said the cgi looks fricking rough and we haven't had a single teaser or trailer, so no.
It is going to be going straight to HBO Max so, budget is probably low. Oh well, I'll remain hopeful
I like it too, but please, calm down.
>Surpasses your kino in your path
Just marathoned all 3 of these movies, had a good time
Is the tv show worth it?
Yeah it's pretty short and fun.
Yeah. It's mainly comedy like army of darkness but its pretty good. First season is my favorite
can't stand Evil Dead, Raimi is a hack
