The asset quality in RDR2 is nowhere near TLOUpt2. Just the sheer density of the scenes is unmatched. Also, TLOUtp2 has several levels that are wide open. Same in Uncharted 4 and TLL. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to scale that up further.

The cast are different races and look completely different from the game, so by definition it can't be the greatest "adaptation" of a source material. It fails on a visual level. You're adapting something from screen to screen - the designs are already there to emulate. When you change what people look like, it's not being faithful. At that point, just make an original story with a different name, if you don't care about it being accurate. Like casting some random Indian guy as Leon Kennedy - that's when you know it wasn't made by fans or with love.

The cast are different races and look completely different from the game, so by definition it can't be the greatest "adaptation" of a source material. It fails on a visual level. You're adapting something from screen to screen - the designs are already there to emulate. When you change what people look like, it's not being faithful. At that point, just make an original story with a different name, if you don't care about it being accurate. Like casting some random Indian guy as Leon Kennedy - that's when you know it wasn't made by fans or with love.
It will at least be more faithful than shit like RoP, The Boys, or Wednesday, that’s just “Let’s take some established character names and write a completely new story around them”.
