The blob will also have a thick southern accent and cuss like a prison guard while it drinks moonshine.

it was marketed as ROBZOMBIE'S MUNSTERS. a director who has only made hard edged horror movies and has his personal brand all over it. why would they make it for children?

A plot typically implies intrigue and drama between point A and B. There is literally none in The Munsters. In the last 10 minutes of the movie Herman is mulling over being broke and his responsibility as head of the household to earn a living then in the very next scene, Lily's brother inexplicably shows up to give them money he won Los Vegas. Cut to credits.

Actually, no. A well-crafted story, whether film or otherwise, depends on meaning and archetypes in order to hold value for its viewers. A mere sequence of events, without underlying meaning, themes, or moral examination presents only a hollow, unrewarding experience, and is quite a significant factor in why so many recent movies made by people who don't understand these concepts do so poorly.

One of the truly great failings of our current society is that the youth seem to be increasingly incapable of understanding this distinction. They don't understand meaning, metaphor, archetype, anything other than the concrete physical behavior depicted on the screen, and this often leaves them confused and angry. It's like that thought problem of aliens completely unfamiliar with humanity trying to understand us through our culture, and having no ability to make any sense of it.

Case in point, we had a handful of disquieting Willy Wonka threads the other day, where the "zoomers" of Cinemaphile (to use the term colloquially, regardless of actual age) displayed a complete and utter inability to comprehend the fundamental meaning of the story. They can ONLY see it as "weird guy invites kids to factory, promises them candy, punishes them for acting like kids." Of COURSE you're going to find it confusing and frustrating if you only view it the way a robot would*. The meaning has been dug out like marrow from a bone. They've lost the ability to think symbolically, the fundamental difference between human and animal. Liberalism/critical theory/common core education, whatever you call it, has destroyed their brains. These people are starving, spiritually, and somehow this needs to be addressed or our entire society is going to pay for it in the long run.

*I never accept "they were only trolling" as a valid excuse. Such dedication to extreme and overarching deliberate displays of obstinance are themselves as disturbing a mental/emotional problem as mere ignorance.

      >Toby takes a shit
      >Toby takes a shower

      >Toby drives to work
      >Toby sits in meetings for several hours
      >Toby drives home
      >Toby eats dinner
      >Toby goes to sleep
This isn't a plot this is just stuff that happens. A plot needs a narrative arc, and a fricking point.

Jeff Daniel Phillips was unironically a good Herman with his own personality while still being intuned with the original. Sheri's acting was literally just emphasizing all of her lines with autism hands. It was cosplay.
