I think it might succeed just because plebs love their brand recognition but it'll be kind of a hollow victory. This is a half-measure. They're kinda sorta crossing streams with the for X-verse but only with 2 characters, one of which is played by a 55 year old man.
Like, where is this going? I see them inexplicably trying to use 60 year old Jackman in the Marvel X-Men for name recognition and having Wolverine be some side character while storm and Black Rogue lead the new and improved X-People
It's presales are huge. I hate capeshit and wouldn't piss on Ryan Reynolds if he was on fire but even I can accept it will be a massive hit

People said Pixar was finished and then Inside Out 2 broke records.
Normies are all too happy to go back to the trough to eat their slop, they just need a good enough excuse. A crossover of two highly popular superheroes could do it.

Why do they only report the dollar amount and not tickets sold? Seems like every movie is the highest-grossing movie of all time until the next movie comes out.
This is going to be the outlier. It’ll make close to a billion, the media will spend a month talking about superhero films being back, then they’re going straight back to flopping again.
The only big hit Marvel is going to have this year is the one they didn't want to make from a studio Disney had to pay $70 billion for greenlit by a CEO they fired after only a few months. This is basically going to be Luke Skywalker in the Mandalorian all over again, a false glimmer of hope in a sea of dispair.
I'll watch it but it's too late for Disney or Marvel to course correct on the MCU in any meaningful way. They'll get a dead cat bounce on Deadpool & Wolverine because it's the last hurrah for the X-Men cinematic universe as it gets rebooted and spun into the MCU, but even if Disney wanted to react positively to it (presuming it's the success I expect it will be) it would take 2 years minimum to change course on the MCU from the current direction it's going in.
>OMFG BIBLICALLY ACCURATE SUPERHEROES TAKE MY MONEY
>>OMFG BIBLICALLY ACCURATE SUPERHEROES TAKE MY MONEY

The pre-sales are behind No Way Home and Doctor Strange 2, it's more comparable to Thor 4.
The age of capeshit is over. It's going to flop spectacularly.
if superhero fad dies, what will we get now, then?
the rising comedic horror versions of beloved child stories?
A merciful death hopefully
video game movies
You morons have been saying that for 10 years.
