This girl i've been talking to asked me if I was watching the Oscars and I just said "no just catching up on podcasts" after spending 5 minutes trying to explain what the frick I was watching to her.
how do tim and gregg make the money to keep doing this? not that I'm complaining, but I'd be surprised if it breaks even, and its not like tim's live tours or Office Hours do numbers. do all those three line acting gigs add up or something
abso lutely productions has done some nearly mainstream stuff. Tim and Eric directed like Terry crews super bowl commercials, Gregg owned like a tiny record label, does voice acting comedy albums, I think it all adds up over time
they probably brought in 50-100k on ticker sales for the Oscar special,
>le epic redditman does ironic humor for women and basedboys
almost 15 fricking years of this israelite shitting down your mouths and you mutts keep coming back for more?
Honestly thought rolling the credits to the band while Tim and Gregg were sprawled would have been a good ending but these last few minutes have been insane.
Did anything funny happen in the beginning to make it worth watching from the start before they switched off from shitty Viemo? That's when I tuned in.
I think the shtick is still good but this special just had kind of a slow/weak ending chunk, when in the past that has been the best part and leaves you with a better impression.
around the 6th oscer special is where it flipped from satirical comedy to comedic satire, for better or worse
tim wants everything he makes to have artistic value now because he's getting old
I give a lot of credit to On Cinema for being the best satire of modern culture, but I think the difference now is that I’m not sure they were going out of their way to be satirical in the adult swim era. They were simply crafting up ridiculous characters for the sake of comedy and then soon after we started seeing a lot more On Cinema Tim-esque characters in real life news cycles and politics. But now it seems like they’re just reacting to the modern zeitgeist. Tim is just a reflection of what’s going on right now, where before it felt like he was incidentally of a signal of what was about to come. His next arc shouldn’t be like Gutfeld thing, or a Andrew Tate thing, it should just be something completely unique and stupid in its own way that feels true to his character.
>They were simply crafting up ridiculous characters for the sake of comedy and then soon after we started seeing a lot more On Cinema Tim-esque characters in real life news cycles and politics
you honestly have to give them leeway because of this. Tim simply saw the future with his character, now he's simply reacting to it, but how the frick could the man keep predicting things without having superpowers. Just be thankful we were all there to witness lightning in a bottle, it's still funny as frick for what it is.

there's no way to make what's coming funny and he knows it
Tim doesn't know how to behave or present himself without an archetype, he's fundamentally a broken person but the show is way weaker when he full rests on whatever thing he took. I think Tim was very much himself this season and that's why it was stronger than the other HEI seasons.
Oscar Special 4 is pound-for-pound the best one for me, but 7 is a really close second. Last year’s was probably the worst one, but this one was a big step up. Definitely the best one of the HEI era. I just sort of wish they’d get back to basics with the formatting. Not every season has to be a parody of a current thing. I think this season’s podcast parody thing worked well, but the OANN thing they did when HEI first started, and the morning show thing they did last season didn’t work as well. I think they’re overthinking it and feel they need a new gimmick every season. You can still be satirical of the modern world while keeping the Siskel and Ebert formatting from the earlier seasons.
They're trying to keep things fresh, which is admirable, but you're right that a back to basics type of route would probably serve them better. I still get the feeling they're just going through the motions, like "Well, Tim HAS to be a raging piece of shit", or "Greg HAS to try to assert himself as a conceited film buff" and it just feels played out at this point.
They had the opportunity to do that with the wedding death, which I 100 percent thought that was what they were leading to. Huge misstep to not do it then, or when Greg ran over the black guy.

another trial would be pretty weak, like admitting there's nowhere further to take the series and falling back on old hits
I think they still had room for at least 1 more, especially if Greg was the one in the hot seat and Tim doing everything he can to throw him under the bus, but that's ancient history now.
when he was arguing with tim he said something like "i told you not to go back to her" or something like that. why he was trying to isolate him from toni, i don't know
G is gonna drop dead.
Amato's poe-faced song segments are a refreshing new addition to the On Cinema canon.
It begins.
Is Greg moved or is he still upset?

almost 15 fricking years of this israelite shitting down your mouths and you mutts keep coming back for more?
great special
What "weird stuff" was Tim into?
Larue does it again
Baboon and the Pep Boys was still the best bit.
Only part with Mark in it 🙁
Honestly thought rolling the credits to the band while Tim and Gregg were sprawled would have been a good ending but these last few minutes have been insane.
Is Greg alive?
Big bird just standing there
toni the worst
man i've been to too many parties that ended like this
band and all?
of course
those frickers are paid to perform and they'll do the full set even if the roof caves in
It's over
RIP Electric Sun 21 + Matt
They never had that many moving parts- woundeful
that was fun, see you guys in a year
>that final shot of big bird
what was tim blubbering at the end after he said amato killed matt
If I shell out for hei.tv will I get acess to everything since season 1? I want to marathon everything I can find to get back into the lore
Did anything funny happen in the beginning to make it worth watching from the start before they switched off from shitty Viemo? That's when I tuned in.
big bird has to fricking be mark.
Not to be a killjoy, but I think the whole shtick has run its course. Doesn't hit the same notes as the earlier specials, but that's just me.
agreed... maybe we are just living in the past though....
out of all the specials... id give this one 4.8 bags of popcorn out of 10
I think the shtick is still good but this special just had kind of a slow/weak ending chunk, when in the past that has been the best part and leaves you with a better impression.
So why did Amato have Matt killed?
It must have been Joey that did the shooting right? Which is why he disappeared, because he was injured in the shootout?
yeah but then it became a massive red herring and now it's real again
feels too big budget now
back when it was 90% two guys sitting talking and arguing it was perfect
I sure as frick felt that the last two years- last year I thought was the worst. This is the best of the HEI ones.
yeah last years felt really phoned in, this was a lot better

for me I doubt the last half hour of the 2nd will ever be topped

Tim was relatively tame even during his tantrum at the end
He just got his shit pushed in so more of a breakdown than tantrum lol
The bit with the mic was really funny.
i think this is leading up to another trial special. Now it'll be with amato charged with murder

I could have sworn it was only Tim that would press Toni because only he'd be implicated in a new indictment/case
So what's G's angle on this??
when he was arguing with tim he said something like "i told you not to go back to her" or something like that. why he was trying to isolate him from toni, i don't know
PCVR? Was that Gregg's new naming system? Lmaoo
PQRS. P for prequel, S for sequel, R for remake, and Q for ???
It was almost played too straight?
It was all almost too close to just being a real shitty conference with lame vendors?
it reminds me a bit of tim's anti-comedy.
its okay. but it's still just a bad comedy show, or a bad motivational conference.
They should bring doctor san out of witness protection already.
They don't incorporate the actual Oscars or movies into the show as much as they used to
I think the decade long joke, which they may not have broke once, was saying even one sensical thing about a single movie ever.
damn.
That car "review" had me in stitches
