I get the impression that the Dutch live in a simpler time, something akin to what the 90s-2000s era of the internet was. Back then you could make jokes about a character being an insane racist, and the point was just that they were an insane racist. Nowadays you're more likely to get a bunch of people who think "Whoa, this character is an insane racist and this is a SECRET SIGNAL that the author is also an insane racist! That's based/horrible!"

Creator finished the pilot, waited and pitched to exclusively Dutch studios and didn't want money from anyone other than the Dutch, refused to open a patreon which would've given him more money, did monthly art for his supporters, wojackhomosexuals took hold of the show and unfortunately became the face of the fanbase and ruined literally any chance of the show being picked up, and now the creator has ball cancer or some shit and said he's done with the series. That's about it
I just went and read the post where he announced its cancellation. It seems he did want money from people other than the Dutch? He said it got popular in Russia, but he unfortunately couldn't get Russian donations because of sanctions and other unreliableness. So it seems he was not opposed to non-dutch money. None of the other stuff you said was mentioned.
