It’s not bad, it’s just weak relative to how well the first movie did. The first movie did 1.3 billion worldwide. This one will probably end up around 850-900 million which is still pretty good.

      >250M production without counting marketing
      >only made 600M
Marketing is usually doubel the production cost, so that's 500M, getting back only 100M is considered doing very poorly

Its a pretty well known fact that the budget for marketing and distribution is seperate from production costs. Considering Disney will take the most invasive approach to sell their movie, it wouldn't be too far fetched to believe that Disney dropped over a hundred mil on ads and making sure Black Panther is the only movie playing in theaters.

Watched football at a bar with some friends, and every fourth ad between games seemed to be BP related. They're really overspending trying to cram this POS down people's throats.

You know making less than the first movie might as well be a bomb right? The Last Jedi made slightly less than Force Awakens & caused the entirety of those rewrites in episode 9 because Disney was hard panicking. This movie doing way below the first film is gonna put some asses to the fire

        Anonymous

Sequels almost always make less than first parts. That's just to be expected, especially when the first part was extremely successful itself. The real trouble in this case is that it might struggle to break even.
And I don't think Star Wars rewrites had anything to do with episode 8. That's just a fanboy theory on youtube. They changed writers back to JJ Abrams before episode 8 had even released, apparently because Trevorrow was unable to write the deceased Carrie Fisher out of his script.

There's nothing else playing in theaters this Thanksgiving weekend. Wakanda Forever should easily be able to surpass Doctor Strange 2 by this time next week.

Not even close. Indian movie tickets are so dirt cheap that films there don't gross anywhere near as much as you'd think.

    >ONLY 600 MILLION AT BOX OFFICE
Not yet. At the moment it stands at $561 mil worldwide box office, however, it will probably hit the $600 mil mark this weekend.

With a production budget of $250 mil, the film has already made that back and is now $30 mil into the estimated $125 mil it needs to make back its marketing costs. Once it hits $750 mil worldwide, all expenses should be covered and the film will start going into profit. Based on the word of mouth and the performance already, I'm estimating that it will peak at just under $800 mil worldwide, which will earn a small profit for the studio, but a disappointing one.

These movies are made to be forgotten. They don't want the audience lingering too long on any one product because they want you to consume the next one and the next one and the next one. If people were still talking about No Way Home, that would be bad for Wakanda Forever.
