Nolan does good stuff when he is making a non fantasy movie, like Dunkirk. Apart from Memento and The Following his movies are meh

  4. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

Yes I'll be seeing it because it's back to form for Nolan; he's a meme director who hasn't made a meme worthy movie since Interstellar. Considering Cillian is just playing a caricature of Tommy Shelby here, it looks like meme kino is back on the menu

Nope. It’s going to be crap. Here’s a list of things that the movie will likely get wrong:
    >Historical inaccuracies
    >Modern dialogue instead of period specific quotes
    >poor reenactment of available footage
    >Too much of a focus on Oppenheimer, despite there being thousands of people who worked on the Manhattan Project
    >His extra-marital affairs will either be discarded, or focused on too much
    >It’ll probably mention him being left-wing, but that it’s a good thing
    >Will likely downplay the US’s involvement in the fake “missile gap” between the US and the Soviet Union
    >It will be rated PG-13 and won’t show the insane horrors of a nuclear bomb dropping on a city. There probably won’t be any violence or gore at all.
    >Will likely downplay how bloodthirsty the Japs were during WW2, and will likely not even mention Unit 731 or any other Japanese atrocities.
    > No blame will be placed on Japan for not ending the war until after the second atomic bomb was dropped, despite them knowing that we had an operational nuclear bomb. https://www.atomicheritage.org/key-documents/warning-leaflets
In short, I have extremely low expectations and I hope the film is better than what I expect.

After the failure of Tenet, Nolan’s days in Hollywood might be numbered.

Probably going to straight to Hulu after the Tenet disaster.

          >what is a global pandemic
Nolan got a dream offer from Universal who agreed to his every stipulation after he voluntarily left WB for tanking his movie with mismanagement, you moron. It's not his fault the entire country was in lockdown and no one wanted to share oxygen in a room full of coughing popcorn munchers for two plus hours.

why blame an entire country instead of just the royal court that didn't give a frick after their army and navy got shat on, tokyo got wiped off the map by firebombing, hiroshima got wiped off the map by nuke, and only reluctantly started giving a frick when the second nuke dropped and a full-scale land invasion was imminent?

I could see them playing the government/military brass as antagonist to Oppenheimer's enlightened peaceful heroism. Truman and Curtis Lemay are arrogant, sneering antagonists, etc.
