No he was the voice of Shrek in the animated film until the overdose, they decided to scrap the work he did on the project and replace him with Mike Myers when he died
They also filmed and animated most of the movie until mike Myers realized that shrek needed an accent. So he got paid to re-record it all and they had to redo a lot of animations

No it's not. Shrek is talking about his family in farley's version but in meyers' version he's truly alone, which fits a lot better thematically.
The farley shrek fits better with whatever they were trying to do with shrek 3
