AoT is a show very similar to Death Note, where even if you're a complete normal and don't like anime it can interest you enough to watch it because it dealt with mature themes and had a unique setting.
The design of the Titans as being ugly in an unconventional sense, the 3D maneuvering gear, the whole aesthetics of WW1 era clothes and such, the setting of a walled country with monsters outside, the bleak hopeless horror setting. I know of series with some of those aspects but doing everything here adds up to a very unique looking and feeling series. Then they enter the basement and it becomes a weird military drama, but changing genres half way though the manga is also very unique.
Demon Slayer is for kids and looked at as cringe as you get older. Time favors AoT like how Death Note had a longer lasting impact among normalgays than many anime.

Beyond having g more unique stories, manga/anime have an abundance of supply that helps feed the western demand. Even pirating is easy considering there are thousands of shitty scanlation sites. Same reasons why capeshit comics are tanking.
It's not just that, Western capeshit comics are also almost impenetrable to an outsider because of how much there is and how garbage so many of the runs are. Imagine if you were new to Batman and wanted to get into Batman comics, where the frick would you start? How would you know what was good and what was trash that could be skipped? How would you get access to some of the older stories in the first place (assuming you didn't just torrent them)? And I'm not even getting into the recent woke shit which has plagued DC and Marvel.
With manga on the other hand it's easy. Each story usually has one author, and the place where you begin the story is volume one. If you don't like a story then drop it and try another. Super simple, and you don't have to keep up with multiverse bullshit spanning irl decades.

By the by, I went to the first movie of Demon Slayer which was new content as opposed to just episodes. I was required to show my ID since it was rated R. It was right after the voter ID discourse and thought it was very funny.

The thing with dragon ball is that character deaths haven't held emotional weight since Krillin, Roshi, and Chiaotzu all died the first time. The violence does not feel as graphic when dead characters simply take a short vacation in "other world."

AoT is a show very similar to Death Note, where even if you're a complete normal and don't like anime it can interest you enough to watch it because it dealt with mature themes and had a unique setting.
The design of the Titans as being ugly in an unconventional sense, the 3D maneuvering gear, the whole aesthetics of WW1 era clothes and such, the setting of a walled country with monsters outside, the bleak hopeless horror setting. I know of series with some of those aspects but doing everything here adds up to a very unique looking and feeling series. Then they enter the basement and it becomes a weird military drama, but changing genres half way though the manga is also very unique.
Demon Slayer is for kids and looked at as cringe as you get older. Time favors AoT like how Death Note had a longer lasting impact among normalgays than many anime.

It's not just that, Western capeshit comics are also almost impenetrable to an outsider because of how much there is and how garbage so many of the runs are. Imagine if you were new to Batman and wanted to get into Batman comics, where the frick would you start? How would you know what was good and what was trash that could be skipped? How would you get access to some of the older stories in the first place (assuming you didn't just torrent them)? And I'm not even getting into the recent woke shit which has plagued DC and Marvel.
With manga on the other hand it's easy. Each story usually has one author, and the place where you begin the story is volume one. If you don't like a story then drop it and try another. Super simple, and you don't have to keep up with multiverse bullshit spanning irl decades.

Comics should have one and only one reboot each decade and no backtracking or multiverse crap. Means that they really have to think about what they do with a character and significant changes / deaths don't feel cheap and everybody can refer to the stories by whatever decade they started in.
