Those scenes were kinda boring, it's true, but at least DeNiro actually gave a decent acting performance in the movie as opposed to Pacino just randomly yelling stuff.
To me it doesn't make sense that the gang of criminals would take him in for the heist. I know he got vouched for but still, it was just a short time before the heist was about to start and they seemed like they all insisted on planning really carefully. Just doesn't make sense they would have taken a risk like that.

Yeah, I know that's the supposed back story. The problem is: 1) the movie doesn't give us any indication that Hanna is on coke most of the time... which would be ok cause we should be able to read between the lines, except for 2) Hanna doesn't really act like a typical cokehead, he acts like overacting Al Pacino.
Honestly, if Force Maker and God Moving Over The Face of The Waters had not been in this movie it would be a 9.5.
Collateral also has that Audioslave song and Ready Steady Go, I also liked this from the original soundtrack
it's a boring forgettable flick and the face off between de niro and al pacino is so forced and reddit it makes me physically cringe. i think pacino even says "we're not so different you and i", kek.
if you want a great actor face-off, sean connery vs ed harris in the rock is miles better
At the time, the face off was very disappointing yes. You have these two acting titans, who are treated as demi gods, sitting across from each other. You'd think they would let it rip. Deniro just makes a stankface and says everything two times, like he does in every movie. Pacino did alright. And shits all over Deniro as an actor.
I only watch this for the shootout scenes. I don't care if even that's reddit, Hollywood doesn't know how guns work so it's rare when they actually do.
It's not a bad movie, it's decent. It's just ridiculously fricking overhyped. The plot is silly, Pacino's performance sucks, and as the other anon pointed out, the DeNiro-Pacino scene feels shoehorned in.
In all fairness, Mann did Pacino dirty. His character was supposed to be a cokehead. And the one scene where they show it was cut. Everybody gives Pacino shit for always yelling and ranting and raving. It's why I love him, he can chew scenery like no other. But he's a versatile actor. Any actor who's earned his acting chops in theater is good in my book. He can do subdued as well. Deniro can only do subdued and is a movie actor. I don't have a hateboner for Deniro, I just think he's terribly overrated. Especially in comparison to Pacino when it comes to acting. They shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as far as I'm concerned. But Bobby was Brando's lovechild, so he gets credit. You ever see the outtakes of that heist movie they're together in? Deniro can't improvise worth shit. Still... He's made his mark and was a huge influence.
Oh, I have nothing against Pacino as an actor. He was great in Carlito's Way just a couple of years before Heat. It's just that for whatever reasons, in Heat it didn't come together as far as his performance goes.

This thread is riddled with move makers.
they had to get it on
This character feels a little contrived upon rewatching the film.

you child
only the shootout scenes are good
You imbecile.
What is there not to like in 3D good and bad side characters?
no others. heat is the only one
Every scene with De Niro's boring gf should've been scrapped, especially the one with that ghastly green screen of LA on the balcony

he's grinding his teeth in many scenes
Where's your empathy, brother? It's a substance abuse problem.

another amazing film on the edge of the erotic thriller genre.
Any film of blacks being killed by police

Filming was a little boring and too long. Needed more Val Kilmer

>Bobby was Brando's lovechild
How so?
I'm an ESL. Deniro was Brando's poulain. Brando took him under his wings.
Got ya, I did not know that Brando mentored him
