"conservatives" are high in trait conscientiousness. They don't care about aesthetics, art etc they just care about money and jobs. I've met true conservatives and they think that humans basically should only exist to work and stimulate the economy.

Your mistake is assuming that conservatives have anything to do with the word conservative.
Political names may as well be window dressing for how well they describe a political party or political dogma. They're just a way to advertise whatever cancer to the everyday man, in the same way that all things are advertised by cancerous advertising agencies these days. I'm sure many associate liberal with rights and freedoms (lol) in the same way.

Whenver I look up at the night sky, it never looks like the right picture. Do I have to drive 100 miles into the Utah desert, far from civilization, just to see the milky way?

        Anonymous

The right is definitely a long exposure photo, but honestly not too far off from reality once your eyes adjust to the dark on a clear moonless night.
A lot of Utah is a good choice because of the elevation and climate, but if you're in a western state you can usually find a dark sky area within a couple hours drive or less. Unfortunately most of the East coast is fricked for light pollution, like much of Europe.

This is the tool I used, it's great and you might be surprised how little a drive it would be to get to Bortle class 1 or at least 2. Might only take you a few hour drive. At least I was surprised then again I am in Australia so I'm surrounded by frank herberts Dune at all times.
Once you find a location you'll also want to make sure the weather is going to be clear that day before heading out there

Also, the Milky Way will never look like a long exposure photo like I posted to the naked eye. But it's still pretty incredible; it looks like a massive band of thousands of stars stretching over from one end of the horizon to the other and its definitely brighter than the surrounding stars. Even a pair of binoculars will reveal thousands more stars you can't see with the naked eye.

The worst part is that LED’s can be programmed to still use that nice tungsten color but the morons in our government decided to use the default bright white instead.

This is my biggest gripe with them. We don't need to go back to orange but is everyone involved in their implementation moronic? Why do they set the blue value so high on all of them? I used to live somewhere where half of them were bright purple after installation and nobody gave enough of a frick to change it for a solid 10 months.

There is something wrong with your eyes if overhead street lamps are making it hard to see the road.

The true cancer is factory-installed HID headlights on other cars, the shit is so blinding I feel like I need to pull over if anyone goes past me. Makes my old car with regular bulbs look like the lights are off. But it's all a ploy to introduce mandatory self driving vehicles, you realize that right? The more uncomfortable they make driving in the dark, the more we feel like we can't do it effectively, the more willing we'll be to give up our licenses and autonomy and let big brother chauffer us around. First it's your ability to drive, next you're living in the pods and eating the bugs.

No dude. It's hard to see because after 3 minutes driving they start giving me headaches. Not to mention they seriously make the surroundings look like shit. There used to be this road to the airport in my country which passed to the side of a valley. It was the most beautiful thing when the moon shone behind it. Now the intense glare of that shit doesnt let you see anything but the road. Not only that but the idiot who installed them decided to make fiberglass poles to light the inside with LED blue light. Ugliest fricking shit ever

LED lights are literally better in every single way:

      1. More energy efficient.
      2. Longer lifespan.
      3. Improved visibility.
      4. Direction lighting (minimizes light pollution and glare).
      5. Instant On/Off (no warm up time like sodium lamps)
      6. Flexible in Dimming and Control
      7. No mercury/hazardous materials
      8. Reduced light trespass into neighboring properties
      9. Can integrate into smart city infrastructure
      10. Cheaper

Also this. I drove down a road at night after I was up for 24 hours. Even after drinking an espresso, I was still worried about driving the long way in a really dark road. I wasted $4 in the toll, but I felt way safer going down the LED lit highway & was able to stay awake.

I think your body is telling you its time to sleep, so you should ideally not be pulling 18 hour days. The LED lights are a problem for everyone else except the people fighting the nature to go to sleep when its dark.
