    >afraid of heights
    >calls himself vengeance
    >has trouble figuring out riddles in spanish (this guy is supposed to know many languages). goes to penguin to help him translate

The first one was weapons-grade cringe. Those Schumacher nipple movies are less embarrassing, at least they were meant to be goofy. This one was just unintentionally funny.

Here, I'll do one right now in a shitpost
      >grizzly murders happening in Gotham's vast sewer network
      >partially eaten bodies of homeless, rats and other vermin washing out into Gotham Harbor
      >Batman discovers there's been a breakout at Arkham shortly before gruesome murders occur
      >"Patient's name is Waylon Jones. Suffers from Ichthyosis, psychosis and delusions of grandeur stemming from severe untreated bipolar disorder. He was being treated by a Dr. Kirk Langstrom and Dr. Harleen Quinzel."
Boom! Killer Croc movie with set ups for a Manbat and/or Joker & Harley Quinn sequels.

    >batman tanks bullets better than robocop
    >flies into an over-pass head first at the speed of a racing car

I don't care if his amor is literally invincible, his body would still feel the force of bullets hitting him even though the bullets aren't penetrating, and hitting his head against an overpass would still break his neck along with the concussive force fricking up his brain.

      He didn't hit his head.
And I still don't get how you guys can't comprehend that a realistic Batman is still going to be unrealistic by definition.
It's not about actually being realistic.
      It's about capturing a vibe.

Tim Burton's vibe was way cooler.

I like a bit of both.

          But Burton's was unique.

Its vibe was just a generic grimdark Netflix show. I understand realism as an artistic conceit, but it's a really played out card at this point, and the Batman does nothing interesting with it.

The Batman does quite a bit interesting with it, theme wise and story wise.
Not only is it visual gold, as award winning cinematographer Roger Deakins said of the film, but it gives Gotham City an aesthetic we've never seen before.

                To each his own.
But if one of the greatest cinematographers of all time said it was the best shot film of the year, I feel as if I'm in good company.

He's the most overrated cinematographer of our time and making pretty shots isn't the same as good filmmaking.

                Never said it was.

Not my point. I'm saying Deakins is pretty surface level at his job. He makes pretty digital images. He isn't someone with a strong grasp of filmmaking, which is why something like the Batman looks good to him.

                Anonymous

You're really gonna have to prove that for it to have any weight beyond just words.

His work lacks distinction beyond the simple image - it's the empty digital aesthetic which he specializes in, with sometimes flashy lighting set ups. How the camera moves, which lens he uses, and the compositions, are totally nondescript and depends more on the director.

                Anonymous

Deakins has dementia. Same with James Cameron who said Dark Fate was a great movie and fricked up all of his own movies in 4K. Same with Michael Mann who made Ferrari. They're all old fricks with brain damage

                Anonymous

Very compelling proof you got there.

His work lacks distinction beyond the simple image - it's the empty digital aesthetic which he specializes in, with sometimes flashy lighting set ups. How the camera moves, which lens he uses, and the compositions, are totally nondescript and depends more on the director.

Again you're just saying things. There are no examples. Cinematographers usually match the vision of the director first and foremost.
                It's not the cinematographer's film. It's the director's.

it had good atmosphere and emo batman could work
but the actual plot and "message" was moronic. if the movie ended with falcone killed, and riddler caught it would have been fine. the "incel" messaging really hurt it and if they follow that up in the next movie it would be such a waste. I had to watch this movie in 3 parts due to cringe, but the start of it is really kino
