Or Geoff Johns creating that ship out of a weird projection of his and his then-wife's favorite characters. Still even had weird oldheads attached to it because "Gar needs a good woman" while Ravengays and even some Beast Boy ones raged and said one would be abusive to the other. Or Raven was in the way of hot Cybeast yaoi.

How about an origin story series or single run for Beast Boy to reintroduce him to the world and includes different elements about him throughout the decades? Here's a rough shot idea.

    The First Act:
    >Explores Garfield's origin story. He comes from a rich family in the UK, was born sickly, and his parents go to Africa in search of a red plant that could cure him.
    >A monkey eats the plant that his father searched for, the father extracts and modifies the DNA of the monkey to make a cure for Garfield. But it has an adverse effect on him turning him green and shapeshift
    >His shapeshifting as a young child causes some poachers to think of him as a rare animal and they try to capture him. Garfield leads them back to his family' camp, a fight ensues, and Garfield parents perish in a boating accident trying to get away.
    >As the only survivor of the incident, Garfield is taken back to the UK to live with his uncle who just abuses his powers for entertainment and wastes his inheritance.
    >Garfield gets into it with his uncle before living on the streets.
    >When skimming a local warehouse for food, Garfield encounters the Doom Patrol after intervening on their actions and helps them out.
    >He grows accustomed to them as his new family as Elasti-Girl becomes his sister/mother figure. His desire to fit into the new family makes him rash to impress them, to have Mento recognize him and he gets the name Beast Boy for his transforming ability.
    >During a mission to stop a the Brotherhood of Evil's leader (A former friend of Chief), a man nicknamed "The Brain". During his attempt to escape, the Brain sets off a bomb to destroy his lair and Doom Patrol. Beast Boy fails to stop the bomb from going off, presumably killing the Doom Patrol who was fighting the Brain, but Beast Boy manages to survive.
    >Beast Boy is found by Chief who tries to cheer him up, but Beast Boy can't handle the loss and blames himself and drifts off from the UK to the United States, running away.

      Anonymous

      The Second Act:
      >Beast Boy has somewhat recovered from his actions with the Doom Patrol and became the leader of a small of groups of teens that make money by pulling heists and skimming money by selling artifacts from underground sellers to resell for a fair price to legitimate customers.
      >Beast Boy confidence as a leader improves his mood and during one of his off days, he encounters an orphan (Tara Markov) who has powers that he falls for her. Beast Boy makes leeway with her and convinces her to join his gang, even though she wants more in life (power) to be a success. After some time in his gang, Terra asks Beast Boy to leave the losers behind for her and him to make it big (which he rejects since he see's his gang as a family.)
      >Beast Boy's gang during their new heist steals an artifact (of Trigon history/lore) belonging to Joseph Wilson (Slade) who takes an interest in the youth, mostly Terra for her powers and wants his artifact back.
      >Slade tracks down the teens, bests them, and captures Terra to bring her back to his spare home. They have a long conversation where he wines and dines her while Beast Boy attempts a daring rescue to save her.
      >However, Slade has convinced Terra to become a somebody with his work as a mercenary and not waste her time being a simple thief resulting in Beast Boy getting betrayed and losing a second battle against Slade who leaves with Terra, who tells Beast Boy goodbye and good luck making it, she's not throwing away her shot.
      >Beast Boy returns to his hideout where his gang is, but they have decided to abandon him because of the attack from Slade and the fact he chose Terra over them.

        Anonymous

        The Third act:
        >At his lowest point, Beast Boy believes he is a failure that can't protect anything or save anyone. Losing his parents, uncle, the Doom Patrol, and all the new friends he made in America.
        >He drifts across America before ending up in Pennsylvania and encounters Rachel Roth (Raven) who was being stalked/attacked by cultist attempting to kidnap her.
        >From his viewpoint, he befriends her as he takes her complaints against him as a form of criticism that he can use to better himself in someone else's eyes, since he really wants attention and be seen as useful.
        >Beast Boy learns that Raven is trying to destroy a powerful portal being built for Trigon in Pennsylvania by someone researching the occult and that she has been fighting Trigon cult by herself (but doesn't mention her fate) since she was a child. Beast Boy feels sad for her, but thinks he can be of able to help and decides to stick with her despite her insistence to do it alone.
        >The Brain then resurfaces without his body (being a brain in a jar) looking for Raven as he plans on using her occultic powers to acquire himself a new body (and hints at other villains looking into Trigon mythos). He then tracks her down when Beast Boy is away, kidnaps her, and uses her blood to force open a portal where he is reborn into a new body with the blessing of Trigon.
        >Beast Boy who tracked Raven down has pent-up by his failures, especially since Brain survived the explosion and wages an all-out guerrilla fight against Brain and his henchmen remnants to save Raven.

          Anonymous

          The Final Act:
          >Beast Boy campaign against the Brain goes well and with Raven's assistance they defeat the remnants of the Brotherhood of Evil. Brain doesn't plan on giving up and becomes an Avatar for Trigon who hijack his body.
          >Beast Boy gets beaten unconscious by Trigon-Brain but is saved by Raven who tells him that their only way to win is to destroy the portal and that he shouldn't give up, he's a good person that came so far for a stranger like her. This motivates Beast Boy to help her win.
          >During the final battle as Raven begins to close the portal, Beast Boy clashes with Trigon-Brain where he catches glimpses of the "The Red" for 0.01 seconds. Seeing the "Red" is something he always do when he transforms, but he instantly forgets and doesn't recognize seeing it.
          >Holding the memory of the "Red" for this split second, Beast Boy is able to tap into the true potential of his powers and all animal life in-existence, giving him the strength to overcome and defeat Trigon-Brain (Who was becoming weaker by Raven closing the portal), though Beast Boy immediately passes out and forgets everything related to the "Red" and reaching his apex, a feat that may never be possible again.
          >Raven closes the portal for good with Trigon-Brain being sucked in, but vows to return on the Promised Day.

            Anonymous

            The Ending:
            >Raven eventually waits for Beast Boy to wake up and they leave the destruction of Brain and the portal location. Though happy they stopped Trigon, Raven becomes uncertain of her life as Trigon will use her to invade Earth and this weighs heavily on her mind.
            >Beast Boy tries to cheer her up with comedy since they are best friends and suggests if she's really worried about defeating the demon, they should form a team to fight Trigon cultist and other bad guys they happen to encounter.
            >Beast Boy then starts suggesting names for the group, "League of Super Heroes", "Justice Society",
            >As he and Raven start to walk down the road to plan for their next destination, she asserts they should be called the "Teen Titans" jokingly. But, Beast Boy takes it seriously claiming it's a good name and admits to himself he's ready to turn over a new life as a Hero that saved someone for once and helped to put his past behind him.
            >The next several scenes show a green comet blazing across the night sky heading towards earth as the two walk down the road, a snapshot of Dick Grayson (Robin) on the outskirts of Gotham City, and a Doctor overlooking a black teen staring at his human and robotic hands in a laboratory.

A series that really delves into the full extent of his powers and whete they come from.

It all kicks off when during a fight when the Teen Titans are trying to take down Cinderblock, Beast Boy turns into a Gorilla and throws hands pretty well until he's caught off guard and during the fight gets his ankle shattered when Cinderblock stomps on it and nearly cuts his ankle off when he stomps on it a second time. The others come in and save him and take down Cinderblock but Beast Boy's leg is just destroyed and they have to amputate it and cauterize the wound so he won't bleed out.

But to a day later when he's recovering at the Tower, unable to get over what happened, he had a heart to heart with some of the supporting cast about what it's like and talks to some other heros that lost limbs like Speedy or Aquaman, jumps to some time later when he's back in good health and is trying to adjust but finds that most of his animal forms were not made to have missing limbs in the wild, even with the nest prosthetic Cyborg can build for him, still tries to help on missions but everyone sees he's clearly struggling. Almost nearly dying on a mission when he turns into a T-Rex and topples over cause the prosthetic gives out under his weight.

Gets frustrated with it and curses his situation about how it doesn't deserve this, Raven tries to talk to him but he isn't hearing her out and she leaves him to spiral on his misery. He locks himself in his room for days on end just falling into a depression, only coming out at night to eat and bath when nobody is awake. One night when filling the tub he slips, cracks his head on the wall and falls into the bath, blacking out.

When he finally wakes up it's with Robin (whichever one is in the story) holding a flashlight at him, he's surprised Beast Boy finally woke up and Beast Boy asks why that is and Robin tells him he's been comatose for months, but not as a person, but as a Starfish.

They found the bathtub originally overflowing into the hallway hours into the morning and found Beast Boy subconsciously transformed into a sea star. Everyone wanted to remove him but Raven told them to leave him be cause she could sense something going on with his powers so they would periodically check up on him a few times a week.

He turns back and nearly falls over again cause he hasn't walked in months looks down to see his foot and ankle are all back and healed, Robin explains how they started to notice his limb growing back while as a starfish and Beastboy admits he never knew he could do that. And making up for some lost time he talks to Raven about things and she asks him exactly how much does he actually know about the limits of his powers? He realizes that he's only been scraping the surface of what his powers allow him to do.

And that's just the first couple of books.

He's an afrikaan/south african child and his mother was killed by his scientist father after he was born green and experimented on.

The child died and was left in the forest where it was resurrected by it's subconscious attachment to the red and it became an animal that could survive it's injuries.
It lived changing into different beasts instinctively living it's first few years as small insect then as an ape then it changed into a human after poachers killed it's tribe

Garth was basically Tarzan and never spoke or interacted with other humans for the first few years of it's life till he started to help people and animals and people began to talk of a green beast demon/vengful animal spirit.

Doom patrol were sent in to capture it. Partially to recapture the billion dollar weapon and immortality prototype that was discarded stupidly.

After barely surviving in a battel against Garth in his massive chimeric beastman form and nearly killing him with a point blank missle barrage he reforms back into a child out of the beastman form.
He's only a 12 year old boy and does't even know who he is or where he is. He can't even speak and doesn't walk like a human.

The doom patrol raised him to be a human being actively weakening him and cutting him off from most of his power and real nature.

When Garth realizes that he's not a green man who changes into an animal but a beast that actively chooses to be a human then he'll regain his real power and become a swampthing tier monster who has access to the powers of things that can swallow stars.
