This is anti age gap propaganda. It’s essentially saying if you sleep with women under 25 or 30 you’re “taking advantage” of a child even though they’re young adults

well it clearly showcases men taking advantage of the naive girl(literal born yesterday), that is a parallel to our world, except in the real world women have the right to decided what to do and with whom and by placing guilt on the men it kinda saying young women in the real world cannot be held responsible for their action and it's a responsibility of other people to look after them. Alternatively, and I think more likely, that's just how author sees young women and he is saying there is no escape, for them to discover world they would have to be taken advantage of, otherwise it would mean to limit them

Incels don't understand shit. It's about removing the shame that comes with female sexuality and diverting it to the ones who actually deserve to be shamed, which is men who take advantage of women. That's why Ruffalo isn't a character anyone cares about, he took advantage of her when her brain was that of a horny rebellious teen too young to know any better. "But then that means don't respect men durrr," don't respect most men, unless they earn it. She respects at least three men in the film, because they earned it. What's more, part of taking that power back isn't just recognizing where shame should be sent and how respect is earned, the other part of taking that power back is knowledge. Spend your free time learning. Become more aware. With enough knowledge and awareness you'll gain the confidence to tackle anything. Women are largely outpacing men in education now, and this message is the director acknowledging in part that they're on the right path.

Instead you roll around in the muck and proclaim yourself covered in gold.

What does any of that have to do with anything? Modern "education" is marxist indoctrination where you spend tens of thousands of dollars to extend your adolescence and get your head filled with a bunch of shit that's completely irrelevant to what you're trying to learn and adds no value to the world, and as a result is unmarketable and turns you into a debt slave who begs for communism to bail you out of the consequences of your brainlet tier decision making. It's a waste of time regardless of who's pursuing it. The world is never going to be run by girlbosses or troons with social work degrees. The puppet masters just let these people larp like they're important and leading a revolution right now because it's politically advantageous for them to do so

why do you think female sexuality is inherently shameful
        define taking advantage of women
who are you to claim which characters are cared more about
you say “she was too young to know better” how long until women “know better?
how does a man earn or not earn the respect of bella
and modern education is women teachers giving female made curriculum to females in a feminized space which is leading to a competency crisis

          Anonymous

          >why do you think female sexuality is inherently shameful
I don't, society treats it that way. Most women up until recently couldn't even orgasm or had never actually had one, because masturbation has been shamed, so they didn't have any idea how to pleasure themselves. How's a guy whose only aim is to get his rocks off gonna please a woman who can't please herself? Useless.
          >define taking advantage of women
Don't be obtuse, that's for moronic homosexuals. You know exactly how to take advantage of a teen. They're pretty stupid and horny, anon. Power dynamics aren't that complicated. You're older, have more experience, and you know that this *kid* will listen to you. When you pursue them to get what you want, which is sex, you take advantage. Jail. And you deserve jail.
          >who are you to claim which characters are cared more about
Frick Ruffalo. He's a b***h, and everyone treats him like a b***h because he earned it. So have you thus far, b***h. I have no respect for obtuse people.
          >you say “she was too young to know better” how long until women “know better?
The same age as men, when they're adults and they give Express Consent. If you don't know what that is, I've attached a list for you. Knowledge is power, buddy.
          >how does a man earn or not earn the respect of bella
It's as simple as seeing her as a person, not a hole. Even Godwin earned her respect for seeing her as her own person eventually, when the majority of her life he treated her as an experiment. It's really simple. Treat her how you would any man, but acknowledge her as a woman.
          >and modern education is women teachers giving female made curriculum to females in a feminized space
I don't care what you dorks think is happening in school. The fact of the matter is women are going to begin running the world because men are giving up. The higher your degree the more you're likely to make on average, and the likelier you are to be in a position of power. Use it or lose it, loser.

Because it's easy for women to have sex and carries a gigantic risk. We test women's will by asking them to be selective and sell their sexuality at a high price because it's something men are willing to pay a great price for.

If you're a man, then we measure your strength of will against How much effort, mental and physical, you can put into something society values. You have to climb your way to the top of the mountain to prove that you're worthy of what the woman you're interested in had to offer. Now, as a woman, your job is basically to not fall off the pedestal you've been put on.

Who are those 3? I thought the only one she respects is Dafoe as her 2nd father. Pretty much a daddy issue, and this is why she decides to become a doctor in the end.
She doesnt respect that scholar guy, because she dumps him easily before marrying him, and then she just keeps him around as a betamale. She barely cared about his feelings, but the movie try to paint him as a evil male because of Bella 2 so that Bella 1 would have the moral high ground on him.
She also doesnt respect that philosophy Black person as well. She is intrigued by his philosophical views about the raw nature of humanity, and thats about it. She told him that he is just a broken boy in their last encounter and left him in his mental misery.

I think it's a critique on how the idealize Meta women fantasy is dangerous.
You look at movies and novels that women enjoy and it's always the same anti-accountability shit; the notebook, titanic, pretty women, 50 shades, etc.
It's always "life is gonna happen to me, I'm just a regular perfect Jane Doe, and men will actively try to give me stuff and fulfill my needs, and I should be able to jump between them and lifestyle depending on my current mood with zero consequences or having to be burdened with their needs and feelings."
This movie pretty much tells women that if you act like that you're most likely a child brained idiot and will inevitably be taken advantage off.

      >of course she breaks free. women like Bella have no choice but to do so or go mad with wasted ambition. and how lucky we are to have her here! she knows exactly what she wants, what she likes, what she is going to do next. she has the power to both disembowel and suture, as she is keenly aware that the One great equalizer, the glue that binds every being together, is the truth that we all have bones and blood and brains and hearts.

That's a very odd take and could be rooted in projection.
The movie becomes full feminist-moron in the end and the men are (except for le black guy) shown as either weak or ruthless/exploitative (not sexually, as Bella herself enjoys fricking too).
Not a bad movie but its woke aspects-- which get worse as the story goes on-- burden it.

There is a bullshit attempt to control if not imprison women behind extreme feminism, but overall most women seem to
1)enjoy the movie's sexual awakening aspect (many men agree to it as well) and
2)find a bit of identification with the fact that Bella "wins" against her (cliche) bad husband.

How is noone bringing up she had the brain of a baby so this whole movie is basically CP?

      Anonymous

Because the premise is that her mind's developing rapidly. She's only a baby for a short time. By the time Ruffalo meets her she's a teen. Probably somewhere between 13-16 due to how rebellious she is.

          >Not how it works irl
Well this is scifi. I also don't recall someone with a rapidly developing brain caused by a mad scientist, because this movie's a metaphor, not a true story. If you did call someone mature for their age who's a teen as an adult man though, all you'd be doing is proving how emotionally immature you are. People should look down on you, and you should be in jail.

            Anonymous

Okay but that part is "scifi" but the part that everyone is talking about, the nature of women etc is supposed to be exactly like real life because...?

              Anonymous

Because she goes through all the stages of development rapidly. It's close to real life, not exactly like real life. The grand majority of women are offered dick from everyone with a libido from the time they begin sexual development.

              Anonymous

To varying degrees and in different ways, women's (and men's) sexual awakening starts before, not after puberty.
In the movie's case, this is compounded by the fact that it's an adult's body with adult genitalia. Her reaction is physiological.
Her mental development in the movie seems be faster as she responds to the stimuli her senses and experiences present her.

It's actually a story about borderline personality disorder.

Bpd women have a secret inner feeling and conviction that they're perfectly innocent. That they're literally blameless children trapped inside the circumstances and consequences that make others incapable of seeing how precious and perfect they really are.

The opposite is true for narcissism. Narcissts have a secret conviction that they're actually horrible monsters. The show essentially describes in symbolic language the relationship between bpd prostitutes and narcissistic men.

The women need to project their own inner filth onto the men to make themselves clean, and the men need to project their desired perfection onto the women.

1-it's a DELETED scene, therefore not part of how the director/writer decided to show the character
              2-Bella leaves because she objects to the way the doctor handles the prostitutes; she uses some farcical ruse to escape and the scene makes it clear that the brothel's madam had a kinky attraction to her rather than trying to enslave her;
3-unrelated but what a shitty, preachy, heavyhanded scene full of inane dialogue. Wise decision to cut it from the movie. McNamara (writer) dumbed the novel down even if the movie is worth watching despite these pathetic woke moments

A confusing flick. On the one hand sentimental and humanistic, with pseudo-philosphical assertions about human being's capacity for change and a rejection of cynicism, on the other hand female-supremacist and misandrist, rejecting a man's humanity and classing as him as either insane or cattle unless he's effeminate or a disfigured eunuch. This jarring incongruency confused me, knowing Yorgos' previous record of absurdist misanthropic flicks that aimed to humiliate humanity as a whole, until I read it was Emma Stone who intervened and emphasized themes of freedom and optimism for her character. It was then I realized Bella's final dialogue with the Cynic was actually Emma's dialogue with Yorgos, and that he must've gotten charmed by Emma to the detriment of the thematic cohesion of the film. With that said, even though it's a little confusing I don't think it significantly affected the film's quality since it's the kind of flick that leans on its style and performances over any kind of substance anyway. But it is important to note when trying to ascertain any kind of cohesive message from it, there is none.

It's weird seeing people call the male characters in this movie pedophiles and not only that but that they're upset that the pedophile got a happy ending with Bella.

I don't understand how you can miss the point that hard. I mean the feminist message there is clear as day, these men aren't attracted to a fricking child, it's a grown womans body with the mind of a child, that's what they want a dumb fricking broad that will never challenge them, never question anything just be a frickdoll and that is what she is at first.

      Anonymous

The attraction to a woman's body is obvious and anyone who misconstrues this point is simply projecting.
From Bella's POV, the main thing is that the movie does without the premise that there's a later "mature" starting point to experiencing sex. Unlike the novel, the movie's all Bella Bella Bella, it's about what she gets instead of what's "taken" from her in terms of experiences.

      Anonymous

It's ironic honestly. So their argument is that a woman with the mind of a child is a child and being attracted to her makes you a pedo. The other side of that moronic statement is the common pedo argument that "if she's mature for her age." Or in other words, a child with the mind of an adult.

But they will say no because if any part of a woman is childlike then that makes you a pedo so
      >woman body, child mind = pedo
      >child body, child mind = pedo
      >woman mind, child body = pedo
      >woman mind, woman body = not pedo
So then pray tell what constitutes a womanly mind? In what ways does it differentiate itself from a child's mind? And does actually any woman in the world meet that standard?

Seems like we're going toward the next everything is rape/everything is nazi hysteria. Where just looking at an ordinary woman who isn't some sort of major successful powerful CEO c**t of a woman then that makes you a pedo. And that's really really bad because the actual dangerous pedos get lost in the noise. The ones who actually prey on children. It's not looking good.

I don't think most women think that, for example if you banged a Down Syndrome woman, they wouldn't be stressing a Pedo angle at all. Certainly a 'taking advantage of' angle but not Pedo

      > It's weird seeing people call the male characters in this movie pedophiles and not only that but that they're upset that the pedophile got a happy ending with Bella.
Americans nowadays think 18-20 is actual pedophila

A tiny, unhinged fringe only. Most people have a saner, commonsensical approach

No they don’t. The average American thinks 30 and 20 dating is predatory and literally pedophila. 25 is the new adult age

Yes, here counts now that every thread begins with a Twitter screenshot

You're fooling yourself by assuming that a handful of shrill, unhinged twitter/reddlt anomalies/rejects represents the average American population.

    >Women are baby-brained prostitutes who float through life doing what they please for the sole purpose of "experiences", with no consideration for the consequences of their actions and the lives they ruin
It is definitely an unintentional redpilled movie.

The Favourite also stars Emma Stone. It's pretty fricked too, Lanthimos. You'll like it.

I really enjoyed the ending when the baby-brained prostitute somehow became a genius surgeon, and all the exploited women were liberated and were enjoying gin in the garden served by her cuckold """husband""", and the evil sexist man had his brain swapped with a sheep and was kept as a pet...

After pretty much ruining the lives of everyone around her, of course it had to end with her sipping a martini. This movie is fantastic.
