    Russian here.

When i was in cali i took a rental car and went to look for filming locations.
Tried to catch that vibe of a movie. Wineyards, lodges...
Somehow it felt very very real.
Even went in that restorant where roastie waited.

Post a film you consider perfect

      for me it's pic related
it helps that it has a stellar cast, but overall the movie is perfect and definitely spielberg's finest and most mature
sadly it came too close to pointing out how psychotic zionists are and so went ignored

          Anonymous

little comical when taken out of context but i don't think it's anything that stands out when you watch the movie
i'm sad that almost nobody knows it because it does so many things well, it's basically an europe-trotting period piece that also works as a spy thriller

            Anonymous

            >i'm sad that almost nobody knows it
Many people know it. It's a Spielberg movie that was nominated for best picture. It just has the misfortune of being in his post-9/11 period that most people dismiss as too obvious.

maybe in the old generation but try asking a zoomer about it and they have no idea, it has left the collective consciousness, it's only present for those that remember watching it at the time

Watched it a week ago for the third time. Its alright, third act is pretty weak how his team just all of a sudden starts getting wiped out one after another in silly ways. Shouldve focused more on the politics and being more realistic to the actual events. Solid 7/10

He was a miserable piece of shit so I think so. One of the funniest parts was him scolding Thomas Hayden Church for thinking a young waitress was hot and then Paul Giamatti goes and buys a dirty “teen” magazine later on

I wouldn't change anything. I wouldn't get rid of the wife subplot. I wouldn't get rid of the stepdaughter. I wouldn't get rid of the bookstore aspiring graphic designer. I wouldn't want Pacino to tone it down. It's perfect.

      Anonymous

I would make Al Pacino Natalie Portman's father like he obviously was in the first draft of the screenplay so there is some actual fricking point to her subplot instead of her mental state being blamed on a neglectful father who never appears. it's so obvious that they changed it because Al Pacino didn't want to play a guy whose obsession with his job makes him screw up as a dad.

        no such thing as overacting.

        Anonymous

I already said I wouldn't tone down Pacino's performance. And it's in keeping with the character. Vincent wants to keep him on unstable ground. He doesn't expect an LAPD officer to be bellowing about how his side chick has a great ass. Vincent uses the same tactics earlier when he's yelling at Albert. He's overperforming to get what he wants.

clearly the first Iron Man was the start but Thor was the film that showed that yes Marvel really can bring their visionary cinematic universe to life. If Thor had not released as a near perfect film it might have stunted Marvel plans. Resulting in who knows what being popular the last few years.
I mean picture it, a decade of no super hero films!? What the hell would be watching? A bunch of different themes and films and not seeing the grown of characters as Marvel took over Hollywood for the betterment of movie making and streaming? Thor set up modern blockbusters being Marvel for the next 10+ years. It will never get the credit is deserves of course.
