American cities are shitholes, children or not. The places are filthy and not even remotely safe or convenient, so there’s not even any benefit to living in a city. The only reason normal people live in them is for work.

I rag on cities a lot (justifiably) but there's no denying that they are incredibly convenient and NYC at least was pretty safe when I lived there twenty years ago. They have all the public transport and little bodegas and shit that I thought you Euros creamed your pants over? I've heard that they've gotten much less safe recently due to the leftists in charge unfortunately.

            Anonymous

There’s no convenience you get in NYC that you don’t get in plenty of other places. There is not a single convenience exclusive to the place.

But driving 20 minutes to get to a grocery store is convenient? Wtf does convenient mean to you?

Most euro cities are that way too, Paris, London ect. The cleanest nicest cities in the world are, strangely, all ethnically homogenous.

I would take any European city except Paris over New York. New York smells like piss and you get accosted by homeless people everywhere. When I rode the Subway there was a schizo black guy shouting end times prophecies at the top of his lungs and people just acted like it was a common occurrence.

What is the greatest city in the USA today? I would argue its Washington DC. With all of the power and money flowing more and more to the federal government that is where all the important things are happening. One difference with many European countries is that the business , cultural and government capitals are centered in different cities.

mostly for uneducated blacks, hispanics and white trash living in filth it absolutely is, but for people like me who work in tech and laugh all the way to the bank, it's by far the best place in the world. I have been to Europe and Asia many times, but nothing beats Southern California.

I’ve been to Europe a few times and it’s frickin embarrassing comparing their cities and towns to ours. We have so many more fat ugly mutts, crazy people on the street, dangerous people.

I was in northern Italy earlier this summer and yeah I saw a few Africans there but that’s it. The people there were thin and attractive generally, with clean cities and towns. It blew most cities in America out of the water

You can’t factually discount the claim that it’s the greatest city in the world so all you have is incoherent babbling. No other city matters more. Seethe all you want, but it’s the truth.

Greatest city by what metric? Largest concentration of israeli financial power? Yeah maybe.

NYC is fun to visit I’ve been dozens of times, but a lot of cities in Europe are just as fun but with more attractive healthier people, fewer ugly crazy violent people, cleaner streets

Everytime I have to visit a big city I have a constant paranoia that I'm being pickpocketed, I tap my pockets every 5 seconds, not comfortable at all

      So when did New York peak? 1900s, 1920s, 1950s, 1960s, 1990s, or 2000s?

Never go to Paris. I lived in Brazil for 5 years but the only place where they ever tried to pickpocket me was in the Paris metro. If you want to see the hustle and bustle of the big city without being scared for your wallet I'd recommend Boston. Only big US city that doesn't have crackheads freely roaming the street

It also made for a very good cheap place to shoot post-apocalyptic movies seeing as the place was more or less hell on earth anyway.
