This is a timeline where Cinemaphile has gone mad, and a sane man like yourself will be attacked by the madmen screaming “see, he is not mad, he is not one of us”.
It is bad though. How the frick are they even going to make messiah now? They completely changed the ending with chani now going her separate way in le epic strong woman fashion instead of Paul and chani cucking the emperors daughter

why would you ever listen to a word Cinemaphile, or any board for that matter, on this piece of shit site says? They're a bunch of worthless, moronic contrarians
>contrarians
Ah, yes, the reddit buzzword you guys always bring up to shut down the notion that people can think for themselves and have opinions of their own.
i've seen obvious contrarianism countless times on this site and almost never do the contrarians make actual good points or present valid reasons for their extreme hatred of the thing other than "popular = bad. me no like popular thing so me smart and cool!!!1"
Isn’t that exactly what you’re doing by deriding their opinions and implying you’re smarter than they are?

>present valid reasons for their extreme hatred of the thing other than "popular = bad.
Funny you'd say that, because everytime I ask people to explain what they like about DUNC, their argument is "9.3 on Rotten Tomatoes".
Zendaya and the pointless changes from the books were my biggest problems and they're pretty big ones. If I had never read the books I might have a way higher opinion of it because its well worth seeing in theaters. That twink Timmy could eat a sandwich and left some weights though holy shit
Someone had to be the voice of reason who criticizes Paul's white savior attitude, in the book that entirely comes from his own internal monologue and that's not something you can capture on screen.
>Timmy could eat a sandwich
Paul has always canonically been a twink
Visually yes, but unless you read the books and know all of it, the movie is soulless and lacking any substance, because there is nothing to draw you in or make you care.
The assault on the palace is full on ludokinomatography, and in themselves, those final 20 minutes of DUNC 2 are better than entire movies nominated for Oscars this year.
I need to watch it again because for me it was kinda boring and the first movie was amazing. I think I was just expecting Lynch levels of power but it was more based on realism.
Why is it so washed out? Say what you want about Lynch's Dune but even just from a visual standpoint that movie had so much more vibrance and variety than anything in part 1 or 2 combined. Kind of says a lot that the most aesthetically striking sequence is literally black and white
It's a desolate dying desert planet. The washed out look is intentional. >NOOO I NEED BRIGHT COLORS TO KEEP ME ENGAGED
Maybe Care Bears is more your speed, brother.
>He thinks deserts are brown beige and dull >He thinks Arrakis is a ‘dying planet’ >He thinks movies are somehow made better because they’re the colour of oatmeal
Villeneuve apologists will be the death of creativity in cinema.
For real, Paul's rise to power after having his whole clan destroyed and his triumph over them in the end with his duel with Feyd is beautifully done. I love that story arc

I wish I was moronic enough to enjoy this slop
I can't take these movies seriously because of how ugly the main characters are
Also why is everything brown
how come you never actually say anything of substance?
>how come you never actually say anything of substance?
Because the moment you actually give a serious critique of anything in DUNC, you'll get a reaction like
>anon attempts to "critique" but doesn't know anything so he just says out of focus a few times
>serious critique >literally unable to go a single post without console wars homosexualry
Yes, believe it or not, but that's how you actually evaluate the cinematography of a shot.
Also, the problem here is not that the foreground is out of focus, you can do that. The problem is that the background is uniformly in focus, despite its apparent depth. That's because it's computer-generated, not actually shot on site. And they failed spectacularly at making it look authentic. That's the point.
Of course, putting the subject, blurry or not, right in the center is about the laziest you can get. Not a problem in one single shot, but it's how Fraser sets up all of his shots.
am I really supposed to believe that a couple thousand of these morons just go in spaceships they have never flown in before, to planets with environments which they have never experienced before, to fight enemies they have never fought before, and somehow they just are able to slaughter and kill billions of people? How did they do it, what are the logistics of them slaughtering billions / trillions of people when there's at most a few million fremen? even if every single one of them was engaged in constant combat for decades, each one would have to murder like thousands of not tens of thousands of people without taking any casualties.
do they just go down to planets with their knives and swords and run around killing people? What do they eat? What is their logistical supply train to bring them resources, weapons and foodstuffs during their conquests? Why do they want to go on this crusade so badly, so eager to leave their homes just to relentlessly kill a bunch of people?
They slaughter sardaukar, who are supposed to be so above the rest of the galaxy's armies, so it probably would be a massacre for everyone. They're also using sardaukar warships which I imagine would be the strength of 10 standard ships. But yeah its fantasy.
Just nuke em lmao.

Also what happened to Duncan Idaho, isnt he supposed to be a golem by now? I didnt finish the first one. My one real complaint about the adaptation is they changed the Feyd rautha duel a little. Would've preferred that part, at least, to be true to the book. Also there isnt enough autistic repetition of the litany against fear.
