Maybe someone who's destroyed entire planets, or erased lives by rewriting reality. But if we're talking about hand-to-hand combat, I'm not totally sure. And it gets even tougher if we're specifically looking for heroes/protagonists rather than villainous characters. The only heroic character I can think of who's definitely killed more than Spear is Luke Skywalker (most of his kills coming from blowing up the Death Star).
The TMNT in the 2003 series killed an entire small city of atlantians because they were planning to sink New York. Donatello and Michelangelo also blew up an entire submarine of mercenaries.
Depends on how you count the deaths. Like Judge Dredd is directly responsible for killing hall a billion people in East Meg-1 but only the merest fraction of that personally.
I know animators do it to cut down on the work needed, but I always hate it when wounds are gone in the next scene. Also, Fang's leg almost being cut off was a dumb decision if they knew they wouldn't commit to how much it would frick her up.
It doesn’t bother me a ton but it is one of the small gripes I have with the show. Cause it is pretty noticeable. But it probably be a b***h and a half to draw all of that battle damage constantly. So likewise I can’t blame them for doing it like that.
I don't think the rest of the village knew what was going on. They just saw a dinosaur killing people and most likely thought it was an attack on their people. Therefore it was an all fight or all die situation to them.
Biggest surprise of the episode was seeing Mira decapitate someone. Didn’t think she’d end up killing anyone.
This was bad ass. I'm loving seeing Mira fight. I wanna see her go hog wild like Spear and Fang.
I thought it was obvious the guy with the chief was his son. And to the complaints about power creep, Spear was powered up in a rage by black goo. I assumed the effects are still there, and when he is enraged he accesses that durability.
Also the viking funeral was under appreciated. It gets me every time he tears up trying to shoot the boat. Also amazing reaction image.
Yeah I think youre probably right on the lingering effects of the black goo. You could see it in the scene where Fang and Spear are being peppered with arrows and the red mist arrives, Spear's reaction is similar to those he exhibited in Rage of the Ape Men.
Still begs the question though, why were fang's eyes red too? Is there something maybe in the mist (possibly an after effect of the black goo) that turns both of them completely berserk?
>haha we love slavery >oh no someone is freeing the slaves, kill him! >oh no he’s killing us, send in the child soldiers! >oh no my son is dead, feel bad for me!
Spear and fang literally did nothing wrong
I mean, yeah, they're slavers, but Spear and Fang did just massacred an entire village, even if it was for arguably justified reasons. I can't really blame the two remaining vikings for acting they way they do, it's utterly human.
Everyone sane believes Spear and Fang are heroes, hell, they even tried to disengage and they insisted on getting killed. It was suicide by dinosaur and Crom
To me, the whole point of the episode was to humanise and make real the grief and anger which is gonna motivate this next villain or whatever. They're evil and they're villains and they're still evil and villains but now you know why they fricking hate Spear and Fang.
I do hope that was the intended message of the episode, anyway, because yeah, I'm not exactly shedding tears for horrendous slavers who've done much worse than Spear and Fang for no reason other than greed.
>M-MIRA WILL TAKE THE SPOTLIGHT AWAY FROM SPEAR AND FANG >she's just a companion and stands in the sideways while Spear and Fang do the real work >I-INTRODUCING CIVILIZATION WILL RUIN THE SETTING >it makes things more interesting, gives Spear character development and brings new threats for them to kill >T-THE SHOW WON'T BE AS EDGY NOW THAT THERE'S MORE HUMANS PRESENT >Spear and Fang kill a whole village of people, woman and children included because they were trying to kill them
Imagine being a doomposter, I'd kill myself out of shame 2bh
They’re about halfway there with the prehistoric bears. But seems dinos are scarce in the new world, which does track. Because there aren’t as many giant animals they can build
>>I-INTRODUCING CIVILIZATION WILL RUIN THE SETTING >>it makes things more interesting, gives Spear character development and brings new threats for them to kill
It’s more that it’s closer to straight up Conan especially when Spear saw those slaves
I want more supernatural elements. Dinos are gone? Okay. But bring me supernatural, civlised, human elements. I want Grendel. I want demon summoning. I want a dark forest ruled by Pan, full of mad, drunk, insane satyrs, and vines re-animating the bones of long dead beasts.
We had trouble figuring it out in the previous thread. I think it might be a guy, but I'm not entirely sure. Might have to wait and hear the character talk or grunt more.

Enslaving people via war = murder in order to obtain slaves
Anon's right; it's weird to pretend to support these people out of contrarianism, and it's much worse if you genuinely do support them.

Enslaving people as an ancillary benefit to warfare is much different than engaging in violence to enslave people. That's why one is called war and the other raiding.
If all they do is kill other warriors and enslave those that surrender and civilians, then where is the murder? You point it out to me and I will stop talking.

If you go to war with some primary purpose other than slave-taking BUT fully intend to enslave everyone you come across and know it will make you rich then it's very similar. I'm going to use real life examples from history. In premodern times, when people went to war primarily for geopolitical reasons, the loot and slaves were always HUGELY on their mind as well. They knew it would make them rich and bring them fame and glory back home. It was genuinely the reason most of the rank and file bothered fighting; famously, in many places and times, soldiers weren't really paid a salary so much as given a share of the loot. You are killing people to take other people as slaves; the only difference is whether that's your main aim or not.
The whole idea of a "clean war" which is just fought for your country or whatever is super fricking new. Not even the Romans with all their salaried professional soldiers thought about war like that. To them, war was about enriching Rome with treasures and slaves just as much as it was about stamping out threats to Rome.

In which case Spear and Fang aren't murderers either, that was clearly an act of war with the goal of freeing the slaves.

They "tried" to murder Spear and Fang by ambushing them in the cave.
You think when subduing a slaves theres no deaths? Or even deaths when keeping them stocked somewhere(with minimal food/water usually) or during transport?
Casualties are huge in that business
>Spear's journey started because he wanted revenge for his dead wife and children >he later kills the wife and children of the viking guy thus starting his journey for revenge
but grugchad kill in self defense not out right cold blood murder. Me innocent, him no reason be mad. Find dino wife and make baby with tall slave dicky like me
>but grugchad kill in self defense not out right cold blood murder
to be completely fair, the dinosaur that killed Spear and Fang's families was just trying to eat
There you go again, trying to moralize killing children. It's one thing to understand that you need to do it to live, but it's another to try and justify the act itself as righteous indignation.
You can't watch Primal with a 21th century moral and whining. That is how societies were until very recently. Most cultures had unrepetent violence and raping and slaving enemies was just the usual practice. Human culture was very shity in general during most of history and that is why religions that preach about being kinder to other humans and not being a shithead ( at least is what their book usually says) like Zoroastrism, Budhism, Christianism and etc appeared during history and got popular. Even then, most get distorted and used to justify even more carnage.
It's black and white to me. It's absolutely understandable that these Vikings would be filled with grief and rage for what happened to their families and friends, but they're still evil and that village still deserved to be killed. I'm mostly in awe of the fact that apparently every single person died, including the elderly and the infants. Were they fighting too?
next episode >it's night >episode starts with mira bouncing up and down, looking upward and sweaty making moany noises >cut to spear also moving rhythmically, sweaty and looking down >pan away from spear and mira's adrenaline sex and make your way to fang's thousand yard stare. the calm has given her time to father her thoughts. >she looks over to spear and mira, focussing on spear more >back to fang >back to mira >back to fang >flash back to fang and red moments ending the flash back with red dying >fang lets out some low sound and looks away >morning comes >spear wakes up before mira and gets his spear >looks for fang to help him hunt >fang nowhere to be seen
On the question of the last child I go with daughter because it rounds out Mother and Son dying and leaves Father and Daughter to pursue Fang and Spear
Reminds of the crossover idea I saw for Primal with this version of the Flintstones >Spear is recognized as a MIA war combatant from someone in his old unit, and is taken to a mental rehabilitation center while fang is taken to a dino preserve to interact with a few of her own kind >Spear regains his ability to speak, which he lost due to trauma >Spear attends lodge meetings with Fred and Barney >Spear still can't get over his PTSD and Fang is also too traumatized to interact properly with her own kind at the preserve, so Fred and Barney end up helping Spear bust her out and the two go off on their own again, knowing they are too broken to fit back in with modern society.
I think the protagonists are too overpowered. How do they slay when outnumbered 100 to 2 against people more skilled and advanced than them? They take a thousand arrows and don't even struggle to walk after? Come on
>They take a thousand arrows and don't even struggle to walk after? >both are bleeding heavily >Spear is using his weapon as a cane to walk >the two of them straight up plummet on the boat exhausted
Do you ever get tired of being stupid?
>the flashbacks of two people who have never even seen them are totally accurate guys! >it makes sense that their bleeding wounds only show up at the last convenient moment but not during the battle itself!
>the boat is not at the dock and blood stains are everywhere >u-unreliable narrator! >the whole slaughter of the village is not shown for brevity sake and because both characters were covered in mist >w-why are the wounds showing up now?
It's people like you for why subtle storytelling is dead, you need everything explained to you just so you can continue to browse your phone instead paying fricking attention
>the two celts have a vision of exactly what the attackers look like without ever meeting them >fang literally bleeds all over in one scene and in the next has no wounds >b-but you're the one who killed storytelling and not me for shitting all over common logic that doesn't match my fanatical desires!
>the two celts have a vision of exactly what the attackers look like without ever meeting them
that's not what the flashback is implying, it's showing where the main characters are heading next after they were done killing, am I being rused here?
They didn't have a vision of what they looked like you fricking moron, that was for the audience, tracking skills depicted a tale of events to them the same way people in CSI are able determine movement and acts that were performed in a crime scene.

Fang is a rather intelligent dinosaur with a lot of experience in human behavior and a tough one at that, and Spear is probably some neanderthal freak of nature that has been subject to a lot of weird shit, most of all that weird hulk like transformation.
he's not, just another pawn of him, and going by the trailer snippets >he's going to fight Spear on top of the giant vulture >at some point, his remaining child gets killed >he goes to the Scorpion King to ask for power >he becomes the flame demon in the trailer
The Viking leader seems to have strong thematic ties to fire. He cremates his family and burns his entire village to ashes. Him being the Fire Demon from the trailer would be sick
I think the first historical source for that was ibn bhatuta who recorded Slavic/Nordic people doing the burning of the boat. Also iirc they would have set a slave volunteer to drug, rape and burn alive.
>too moronic to understand the show about a caveman and a dino going around killing stuff >instead of conceding just double down on being moronic
many such cases
So my ex told me she was perfectly fine with the Haitian revolution ending with the genocide of all the European people in it.
It's explicit that they killed the kids and woman at the end instead of sending them somewhere else.
Kinda of a similar situation, I do feel a little bad about the people but they were also slavers so definitely not as bad.
No, there was something of a little bit fight over it but they just decided to.
My ex was west African and I'm Hispanic. At the time and today I'm still upset she was so seemingly unaffected that they killed kids and babies like that. Kinda makes sense she tried to get me and my family "out" because of revenge. She clearly doesn't give a frick when it's about being vindictive.
>What is the Haitian Revolution most known for?
Image result for Haitian revolution
slave rebellion
In August of 1791 an organized slave rebellion broke out, marking the start of a twelve-year resistance to obtain human rights. The Haitian Revolution is the only successful slave revolt in history, and resulted in the establishment of Haiti, the first independent black state in the New World.
That's kind of the point of the episode
We as the audience understand the perspective of both people
They may have been slavers but they were people with families and this was their home they were defending
But we also under Spear and Fang's perspective on attacking when attacked due to them being from a place where that's the law of the jungle. Granted Spear felt remorse for the killing of children but once that line was crossed he realized he can't go back
I wouldn't say the Vikings were the slave owners necessarily. I'm guessing they were only collecting slaves for the Scorpion King. But whether or not the Vikings were forced to collect slaves by the Scorpion King has yet to be seen
I kind of think they're being co-erced into capturing slaves for a bigger empire too. If they don't maybe the Scorpion Kingdom starts taking slaves from the Viking families.
On a side note I find the state of the captured interesting. None of them seemed bloodied or beaten, none of them were in chains or the sort either, even in their shack.
Given how Vidarr is the Norse Deity of Vengeance, and overtly kills a giant beast by stabbing it in the heart and ripping off its jaw, If there's a Vidarr Part 2 I bet someone is going to die.
I think he might actually be becoming Surtur with the whole fire motif
On a related note and continuing the themes of both fire and vengeance: >Finding Iðunn alone while Þjazi was out to sea on a boat, Loki transformed her into a nut and carried her back, flying as fast as he could. When Þjazi returned home and discovered she was gone he assumed his eagle form and flew after Loki. When the gods saw Loki flying toward them with Þjazi right behind they lit a fire which burned Þjazi's feathers, causing him to fall to the ground where he was set upon and killed. >Þjazi's daughter Skadi then put on her war gear and went to Asgard to seek vengeance
Why did he do it?
I think that the red mist was a bit more than mood lighting.
Lol, then Skadi gets there and demands a husband as recompense and to try to avoid giving away their best lad Baldr they make her choose her husband from a lineup of the hidden from view male gods solely by their feet
Funny story about marital trouble because she lands a sea god and they both hate each other’s preferred homes (Njord’s coast and Skadi’s snowy mountains) but I don’t see it applying thematically to this show lol
Not all of it, sure, but "my dad got burned and killed and I'm holding you responsible; prepare your angus" fits pretty well if the chieftain comes to a sticky, flaming end.
But what if he doesn’t become the giant in Vidarr, what if he becomes it in a later episode? That changes the title symbolism, doesn’t it?

I don't think many people expect the Chieftain to become the fire giant that soon.

Because people are saying fang will die because of the Vidarr story where he kills fenrir. If that’s going to happen, wouldn’t it make more sense if the later episode is called Vidarr?
Ok guys, I was looking at the season 2 trailer again and I’m almost 100% sure the fire demon is the chieftain now. The ground looks the same in the demon shot and the scorpion shot
crazy how if mira just didn't try to be a hero everything would have gone smoothly, then she tries to pussy out after the fact as if spear and fang wouldn'thave been killed if they
you're just a fricking butthole, aren't you. SPOILER a party of 2 would not have been spotted. if mira left with spear, as originally planned then they'd definitely have gotten away. spear knows how to be sneaky
He's talking about Spear saving Mira. He didn't give a shit about the prisoners, he was only there for her and even tried leaving with just her. The entire party ended up going with him in an obviously open space because she refused to leave without them all.
I felt like spear and fang were killing those Vikings too easily. It especially seems silly for spear to be tanking all those arrows and being more or less fine. Like is his skin thicker then fangs?
They were basically samurai jack level of op this episode and I dont think it's a good thing.
Ok maybe I should rephrase it. People are saying fang will die because of the episode title referencing the god that kills the beast. Even though she isn’t dying that episode, obviously.
So if the episode where he gets the powerup to potentially have a shot at winning isn’t Vidarr, that renders the whole title predicting the death thing moot, right?
No, because as another post already mentioned there could just be a part 2.

>Primal theory contends that many or most people suffer from some degree of neurosis. This neurosis begins very early in life (especially in the "critical period"—birth plus the first three years)[12] as a result of needs not being met. There may be one or more isolated traumatic events, but more often, it is a case of daily neglect or abuse. >Neurosis therefore may begin to develop at birth, or even before, with first-line Pains. Subsequent Pain is thought to be added on top of previous pain in what is called "compounding" the Pain.[13] >Throughout childhood, more elaborate "defenses" develop, as the early unmet needs keep pressing for satisfaction in symbolic, and therefore inevitably unsatisfying, ways

Not saying it would make an enormous difference, but keeping the action show away from the action block is clearly a moronic choice
HBO Max isn’t even the main concern. Not ONE show from AS has been renewed since Discovery took over. They have been courteous and allowed seasons to complete, but once they do it’s cancelled after a month. Rumors are already circulating that Birdgirl has its cancellation being announced in a few days
Because people are saying fang will die because of the Vidarr story where he kills fenrir. If that’s going to happen, wouldn’t it make more sense if the later episode is called Vidarr?
How do I cope with fang inevitably dying? Her and spear are like my favorite characters that have been created in the last decade and I don’t want to see either die
im ten minutes into this episode and jesus christ this is a fricking blood bath. I feel bad for the kids but like, thems the breaks when you enslave the friend of a psychotic neanderthal
Its sad that the kid died but the vikings had every chance to back off the fight and they kept coming. Did the kid "deserve" to die? Probably not, but he brought it on himself, the rest of the vikings actively preying on the weak for their own benefit just kind of had karma come for them.
Yes its terrible their families died too but they could have cut and run at anytime. Granted to be fair they might think spear would chase them.
Depends on how many attack at once. Seemed like raiding parties could be as small as just the chief and his kid but maybe the whole clan could roll up if the target is big enough. Who knows if they bring the bears along or if those are just for local use. I don’t know if they could actually defeat a full on assault but they’d at least put up more of a fight than the berrypicker tribe
Speaking of the bear dudes, I kinda wonder if they weren’t their own sort of tribe cooperating with the Viking sort. They seemed bulkier and a bit less refined than the townspeople
I thinks it’s more specialized classes. At the start you had their regular Warriors but the guy who rang the alarm system seems to have it on “all hands on deck” system where everyone has to fight since it’s an emergency
In their village, and he only wanted to free mira.
I don’t think he would have completely left them behind. He did save that troglodyte when he was going to be eaten by the bats. Spear is pretty altruistic
>I don’t think he would have completely left them behind
He specifically grabbed her by the arm to take her away and he only complied with her obvious gestures about wanting to save the rest when Mira brought it up. She wasn't going to leave without the others.
I don't know why people keep saying this. Spear didn't give a shi tabout hte slaves, he only cared about Mira. that fight wasn't about the slaves either, it was about survival.
She obviously has an idea of where they’re going, she pointed them in a direction and probably told them to head to the coast along that river or fjord so they could catch up later
Which is immaterial to the fact that as the people see it there’s a fricking dinosaur in town and everybody goes at the threat including people that probably should have hung back at the edge at the least
These people were absurdly aggressive and it cost them
>These people were absurdly aggressive
This. Spear was literally the only person to even attempt to prioritize the safety of a child over killing enemy combatants.
I usually hate to "both sides" things but this episode just felt pretty tragic all around, although I lean more on Spear/Fang/Mira's side. Slavery sucks and the village could've just known when to back down but idk, vikings I guess. I am starting to get worried for Fang though, I feel like she can't keep tanking these fights the more progressive the civilizations they come across.
>homies upset that Primal is primal
The inclusion of written-history-era humans has been justified by depicting a different kind of primal aspect of humanity; when war was a whole-people thing and defeat could mean complete destruction.
Unless the finale is called Vidarr part II I don’t think this means anything. I’m pretty sure it’s just the Viking revenge plan and him being the god of revenge
The Vikings carrying the symbol of the Scorpion King, I think they're vassels who have themselves been conquered. The chief will either be a bad guy to roadblock Spear or he'll abandon his vengence when Spear kills the scorpion king.

Holy frick that was badass. I was actually a little shocked watching Spear lop off limbs like nothing - I know the guy is a walking trunk but god damn
>all this talk of fang dying
I think they’re splitting up at the end instead. They’ve been setting this up and episode 2 is literally called “shadow of fate”
Anyone else feel a little dissapointed? There were Vikings riding literal giant bears and they seemed to pose less of a threat or challenge than a fricking pack of little raptors. It feels alot less pulpy and raw and much more fantastical, which is okay I guess, but I don't feel as much of a threat exists anymore.
One of the bears also sat on Spear and decided to do absolutely nothing else so that it could get stabbed through the skull. The bear fighting part left a lot to be desired. The rest was great, however.
Nah, I think all of it felt way to masturbatory. These guys fought with actual tactics and literally had them dead to rights tons of times, but they just went "Lol nope" and won anyway.
Meanwhile spear gets cornered by asterix and obelix and he's actually scared. It felt more like the fight where spear turned into the hulk but with less excuses.
Like are we supposed to think the chief is gonna do anything now when his entire tribe was wiped out so casually?
They mainly only won because the most worked to their advantage. They’re ere used to ambushes and not being able to see their opponents while the Vikings didn’t have much training in actual combat, mainly relying on numbers

>Vikings >not much training in actual combat
This is my point, they clearly fricking did. But it didn't matter, Fang and Spear just unga bunga'd their way through it with even less thinking than when they fought the giant bats. That's my issue now, the lethality seems toned down for Fang and Spear, so why is this chief going to matter at all? How is he going to stop fang just chomping and eating him?

It actually brings up more issues, like I am 100% sure there will be War Elephants and we've seen Fang and Spear get fricking slapped by mammoths. Are the War Elephants gonna pose a threat? Does anything?

Most of them were like reserves. You can’t expect all of them to be warrior level. There’s a reason they’re not the ones on raids. Also they didn’t curbstomp at all, they were covered in spears but kept pushing themselves through until they got an advantage in the mist, which they used to their best abilities and which suited their style better

Every fricking scene basically reset the damage done to Fang. She got a massive axe thrown into her thigh and she then casually walked it off. That's my issue. Nothing felt impactful at all.

Not much if a rampage, it’s chasing after massively slower literal bite size humans

They were fighting using actual tactics, doesn't matter because fang regenerates like wolverine and spear is literally unstoppable.

Still more tactics than a literal militia can pull off. They did better than the bear riders even.

Armor plus being the one making the ambush instead of being ambushed

Yeah, except she literally did that already. She can still throw him around like a ragdoll like all the others. He doesn't even have a bear.
it's actually bullshit how spear got out of that. he should not have been able to move under that thing and sit should have been fang who frees him right before he drowned
Man, I finished rewatching season 1 inbetween episodes and it made me forget how much of a UNIT Fang is when compared to regular ass humans
This was some good shit definitely up there with the zombie sauropod episode
So, with all the shit going down at WB this is likely going to be the last season of Primal
It's probably going to have a real ending this time right? Surely Genndy learned his lesson the last two times his shit got canned and made a proper ending right? R-right?
idk why spear was so anal about red and fang killing killing villagers. every anthropologist worth his salt knows that neanderthals hunted and ate humans
Said villagers were nice to him, fed him and gave his wounds treatment. >every anthropologist worth his salt knows that neanderthals hunted and ate humans
and every anthropologist worth his salt knows that neanderthals werent riding on the back of t-rexes back then. This show isnt striving for realism that hard
As much as anthropologists winge, going "Noooo... we didn't kill all of our closest related genetic cousins, that's crazy! Okay, maybe we killed a few, but not all of them!" I fully embrace the idea that we did systematically exterminated huge swathes of their populations. I base this on virtually every historical encounter between two different cultures.

We genuinely did not. That’s just Hollywood make believe.
Bullshit. I again point to literally every single instance of two cultures butting up against one another. It's always a bloodbath. Especially when one holds an advantage over another.
It’s a cool theory but completely disregarding the fact your said “fact” is also based off Hollywood tropes rather than actual facts. Science suggests that if they did interact it was certainly sparingly and closer to a friendly relationship than anything. They weren’t hunted into extinction like Buffalo they were just integrated into the gene pool
That’s not at all what happened. Neanderthals had a drastically smaller population than early man, which combined with climate change and food shortage led to them dying out, not because of any mass extermination

From what I heard, they largely when out because homosexual sapiens existentially genetically assimilated them. Their genes mostly went out, but most people possess a very small percentage of Neanderthal DNA, which seems to support that.
This episode fricked me up. I love Spear and Fang, but they killed big Viking mommy which is my oddly specific fetish ever since I watched the Northman. Village had it coming though, the babies didn't deserve it but just like natural disasters, fricking charging with baby armor against a rampaging dino and caveman is as stupid as juggling babies whilst balancing on an electrical line during an earthquake.
Also, are people really surprised that Fang and Spear were capable of doing this? Spear and Fang's feats in season 1 are already enough to prove how much they can tank, how strong and fast they are, their intelligence during a fight, their ability to be fueled by fear/rage, etc. I never expected the village to stand a chance (although I did expect Spear and Fang to take a beating, which they did) This episode is not more about them surviving but about how dangerous these hard sons of b***hes are from literally living in cartoon skull island all their life
>Also, are people really surprised that Fang and Spear were capable of doing this?
No, I just thought the direction of the bear fighting wasn't very good. They felt like Whack-A-Moles.
The issue isn't that fang and spear couldn't do this, it's that the Vikings basically put up no fight.
You had several extremely huge bears with guys as big as Spear on their back and they basically did nothing. But one slightly big monke almost killed Fang.
It feelts inconsistent and less playing to their strengths of working together and more just a slaughterfest for fun.
let us not forget that one slightly big monkey was hopped up on the same grug juice that made Spear eradicate an entire species with his bare hands. A smaller amount sure but by no means an insignificant power up
Fair you feel that way but I would like to remind you that >Big Monke drank Aku bathwater and was already a fricking bvll after killing the strongest gorillas in his monke tournament. Considering the huge size and strength increase from the drop he drank, Fang stood no fricking chance because she was genuinely and completely outmatched. >Spear and Fang were able to outrun, dodge, react to the speed and endurance of both a sociopathic covid brontosaur and a creepy-sexual predator looking reptile covered in scat. Said dino could cut an entire triceratops herd in tiny pieces within a few seconds >Spear and Fang survived or tanked countless life-threatening injuries. Spear fell down a huge waterfall, slammed his head on a jagged rock, and simply got up with no permanent injuries. Fang had one of her thighs eviscerated by big monke punch and got DPd by a pack of horny mammoths. Adding on the countless bites, claws, scratches, and more, Spear and Fang should literally look like ground beef. Despite all this, they are still in peak frick-your-shit-up form >Spear dragged Fang's PHAT ass miles on a makeshift stretcher. He held Fang up using a fricking titanoboa as a rope whist the force of a raging waterfall pushed down on him. Fang could hold down a mammoth with her jaws like the good, strong dino mama she is.
This is just a rough summary of the freaks of nature Fang and Spear are. Spang and Fear's cooperation is a necessity because they dealt with creatures that outmatch them in physical prowess as well. Now they are thrust in an environment with absolute schmucks. It should be at least a little predictable to us how Sven is gonna handle against Spunk and Funk. Also, keep in mind we were okay with Samurai Jack learning to fricking "jump good" 20 stories high and being almost FTL against the bounty hunters despite being a fricking ancient Japanese dude with no explanation for his physical prowess besides "tren good".
>Also, are people really surprised that Fang and Spear were capable of doing this?
No, I just thought the direction of the bear fighting wasn't very good. They felt like Whack-A-Moles.
in all likelihood the Vikings are going to make an appearance in 1, maybe 2 episodes as these stalking ambush hunters. I predict they either get a whole episode with slow building tension as they scope out their prey and lay the perfect trap, or they show up after Spear and Fang are tired out from a different antagonist. The dad dies, kid cries, Spear spares him, Fang doesnt.
The Vikings entered world under the childish delusion that they were going to pillage and murder everyone else but no one was going to murder them. They have sowed the wind, now they will reap the whirlwind.
Is there a Cinemaphile character with a higher kill count than Spear and Fang? Cause they’ve been involved in several massacres now and the show isn’t even over yet.
Unless it's cartoonishly over the top like blowing up planets, in a reasonable setting probably not. They've killed literally hundreds
Miyamoto Usagi. We counted.
>Smilin' Stan
Someone's gotta stop this mad man!
So has Finn.
Star butterfly she performed a genocide.
They did it all in primal self-defense
Maybe someone who's destroyed entire planets, or erased lives by rewriting reality. But if we're talking about hand-to-hand combat, I'm not totally sure. And it gets even tougher if we're specifically looking for heroes/protagonists rather than villainous characters. The only heroic character I can think of who's definitely killed more than Spear is Luke Skywalker (most of his kills coming from blowing up the Death Star).
pretty sure Punisher and Conan have both killed well over ten thousand people on panel now
Any cape character who kills. Like Joker.
The TMNT in the 2003 series killed an entire small city of atlantians because they were planning to sink New York. Donatello and Michelangelo also blew up an entire submarine of mercenaries.
Adrian killed millions.
>Nobody replied TO SAVE BILLIONS
Shameful
Are you underage or just that stupid?
Depends on how you count the deaths. Like Judge Dredd is directly responsible for killing hall a billion people in East Meg-1 but only the merest fraction of that personally.
You did good spear
Conan would be proud
I know animators do it to cut down on the work needed, but I always hate it when wounds are gone in the next scene. Also, Fang's leg almost being cut off was a dumb decision if they knew they wouldn't commit to how much it would frick her up.
It was just stabbed pretty deep
It doesn’t bother me a ton but it is one of the small gripes I have with the show. Cause it is pretty noticeable. But it probably be a b***h and a half to draw all of that battle damage constantly. So likewise I can’t blame them for doing it like that.
Same. This persisting trend of wounds disappearing as soon as a scene changes is one of the annoying things holding western animation back
I can understand kids fighting but did Vikings really bring babies into battle?
Some people want to leave no orphans to greave
The enemy might be weak and hesitate to stab the baby vest
>literally using her baby as a child
Spear did the right thing by massacring them
His head is free
>shoot his head
>he falls and squashes several babies
way to go genius
Yes but many more babies will live
>throw spear instead
>gets killed but stays pinned on the wall, letting babies unharmed
Grugchads win once again
That dude is wearing like 170 pounds worth of babies.
Well if they all die who's gonna take care of the kids?
I don't think the rest of the village knew what was going on. They just saw a dinosaur killing people and most likely thought it was an attack on their people. Therefore it was an all fight or all die situation to them.
>It gets me every time he tears up trying to shoot the boat
That got me too. That hesitation to let go and say goodbye and admit that someone is gone.
Is there something maybe in the mist (possibly an after effect of the black goo) that turns both of them completely berserk?
>why were fang's eyes red too?
It just looked cool.
Their eyes weren’t actually red
>why were fang's eyes red too
She was high
Dude, their entire village was being destroyed by a wild caveman and a dinosaur. Anybody would grab their children and the nearest weapon.
Yeah and run away. Not run towards the danger
They were defending their homes and family. That does add to why they went so hard.
It’s not defending your family when you put them on the front lines. She was basically using her kid as a shield
Anon, you have to remember these are Vikings, You either have your home or you fricking freeze to death in the wilderness.
Most of them only saw Spear first and the group with the woman and baby had the advantage of having him surrounded.

holy shit that was the best episode of TV i've seen all year.
Damn, I didn't expect them to go that hard. Frick me.
>haha we love slavery
>oh no someone is freeing the slaves, kill him!
>oh no he’s killing us, send in the child soldiers!
>oh no my son is dead, feel bad for me!
Spear and fang literally did nothing wrong
>The way they act so destroyed by having to free the slaves since there is no one for them to slave for
I mean, yeah, they're slavers, but Spear and Fang did just massacred an entire village, even if it was for arguably justified reasons. I can't really blame the two remaining vikings for acting they way they do, it's utterly human.
And like the stupid humans they are, will die chasing their deaths.
As far as the Viking leader is concerned an individual or a group of individuals just came and destroyed his village. He literally has no context
>he still has to morally justify the baby killing to enjoy the fight
>Spear and fang literally did nothing wrong
I don't think any sane person in here thinks that
What did they do wrong then, free slaves, protect themselves?
Everyone sane believes Spear and Fang are heroes, hell, they even tried to disengage and they insisted on getting killed. It was suicide by dinosaur and Crom
You are a sheltered loser that has never had to deal with anything less than a late Doordash delivery which is why you have such moronic views.
Babies shouldn't have been there, their problem.
It is not and has never been about right or wrong. This is what Primal is all about.

All Vikings so far
I voted for the vikings. However, I still felt bad for them too.
>one homosexual voted spear and fang
>M-MIRA WILL TAKE THE SPOTLIGHT AWAY FROM SPEAR AND FANG
>she's just a companion and stands in the sideways while Spear and Fang do the real work
>I-INTRODUCING CIVILIZATION WILL RUIN THE SETTING
>it makes things more interesting, gives Spear character development and brings new threats for them to kill
>T-THE SHOW WON'T BE AS EDGY NOW THAT THERE'S MORE HUMANS PRESENT
>Spear and Fang kill a whole village of people, woman and children included because they were trying to kill them
Imagine being a doomposter, I'd kill myself out of shame 2bh
I love how humans are now a threat. I hope we go full circle and they fight humans with dino companions, that'll be wicked.
They’re about halfway there with the prehistoric bears. But seems dinos are scarce in the new world, which does track. Because there aren’t as many giant animals they can build
Now it's 'SPEAR AND FANG ARE INVINCIBLE'
>>I-INTRODUCING CIVILIZATION WILL RUIN THE SETTING
>>it makes things more interesting, gives Spear character development and brings new threats for them to kill
It’s more that it’s closer to straight up Conan especially when Spear saw those slaves
>first point
That’s the only one I believed, mostly because of Ashi PTSD.
I’m sorry Genndy
I want more supernatural elements. Dinos are gone? Okay. But bring me supernatural, civlised, human elements. I want Grendel. I want demon summoning. I want a dark forest ruled by Pan, full of mad, drunk, insane satyrs, and vines re-animating the bones of long dead beasts.
>I want more supernatural elements.
Is a fire demon and a giant god in his throne not good enough?
I don't know. I don't watch spoilers.
But Genndy wanted you to watch the trailer.
You would really hurt him like this? Really?
I'll never understand this moronation.
It's more fun to me. If you don't understand fun then I suppose you'll never get it.
Biggest surprise of the episode was seeing Mira decapitate someone. Didn’t think she’d end up killing anyone.
She's getting Primal
You shame us all
What was it?
Anon just spoiler incorrectly.
Just watched the episode with my brother. The first thing out of his mouth at the end was
>I don’t feel any remorse for them
Based
That's a bit harsh, Spear and Fang had no choice
I think he meant the Vikings
I am rooting for chief and son
Thought that was his older daughter if I'm honest
We had trouble figuring it out in the previous thread. I think it might be a guy, but I'm not entirely sure. Might have to wait and hear the character talk or grunt more.
I’m pretty sure it is
But we can agree on this. The guy/gal had a fat head and a tiny face
The surviving chief's kid resembled his wife more. That plus the braids makes me think teenaged girl.
Plenty of the Vikings we saw had braids
Yeah honestly I just rewatched, the vomit scene mainly, and I'm less sure its a girl now. We'll see I suppose.
>Way to ruin a cool moment!
Going by the voice, it's 100% a guy. People only seem to think it's a girl because of the hair.
Whenever they show up again they’ll likely be killed off. Though at least we’ll probably get a cool fight out of it before they do.
Next episode is called the Primal Theory and it seems to be a lore one. I’m guessing it will be a recovery episode like Scent of Prey
Imagine rooting for slavers out of contrarianism
imagine rooting for murderers out of hate for your dad for making you go to the church
Are you implying the Vikings aren’t murderers?
Did you see them murder anyone?
Vikings are notorious murderers you dumbass, they would raid people they'd never ever met or heard of before.
But these aren't vikings, these are "vikings". I didn't see these "vikings" murder anyone.
How the frick do you think they acquired all those slaves? Why are you trolling about this?
They're probably prisoners of war, not pillaging.
I'm not trolling you, you're just wrong to call them murderers when there's no reason to do so. I don't understand why you're so caught up on something so obviously incorrect.
I know you're a troll I won't bother with your post.
>Enslaving people as an ancillary benefit to warfare is much different than engaging in violence to enslave people
Nope.
Well then you're just wrong and moronic, and you have conceded.
Not him, and, I don't really know what you two are talking about, but yes it is.
>I don’t see any murder all I see is slavery so they can’t be bad.
you’re imagining a scenario impossible to what’s in front of you these people didn’t go willing and for these Vikings to have to go and find unwilling subjects to enslave and imply there is no murder involved is moronic they have swords, bear, mounts and chains for a reason
They "tried" to murder Spear and Fang by ambushing them in the cave.
You think when subduing a slaves theres no deaths? Or even deaths when keeping them stocked somewhere(with minimal food/water usually) or during transport?
Casualties are huge in that business
)t. Hates Conan
Nah I just don’t like slave owning pieces of shit
Which ancient civilization could even hope to stop Spear and Fang? Those two are to damn angry to die.
They need armor if they hope to survive the new world
Only if it’s skinned from an animal. Nothing metal
No I want fang to have metal protection
No it will be ankylosaurus
he killed red
Where are the episode synopsis again?
reminder that the episode's not officially out yet
That was the most unga bunga thing I've seen since ever.
>Spear's journey started because he wanted revenge for his dead wife and children
>he later kills the wife and children of the viking guy thus starting his journey for revenge
but grugchad kill in self defense not out right cold blood murder. Me innocent, him no reason be mad. Find dino wife and make baby with tall slave dicky like me
Mira is an adult
ME thinkst that word meant all cuuny. Is not generalization?
>but grugchad kill in self defense not out right cold blood murder
to be completely fair, the dinosaur that killed Spear and Fang's families was just trying to eat
>it has to be a black and white situation with no gray nuances, PERIOD!
It’s exactly that since the guy’s wife wouldn’t stop attacking fang and his son wouldn’t stop attacking spear
Yes, when one side are slavers who will throw bodies like the Soviet Union, it’s pretty clear who is in the wrong
There you go again, trying to moralize killing children. It's one thing to understand that you need to do it to live, but it's another to try and justify the act itself as righteous indignation.
It’s a slave owning piece of shit kid
Okay sociopath.
I’m not blaming the kids. I’m saying I don’t feel bad for the father like the episode desperately wants me to
His actions directly caused this.
>that kid is a piece of shit slave owner it'sa good thing the kids died!
>uh ackshully it's not his fault it's the fathers heh.
I never said the first thing but whatever helps you sleep at night
He was the enemy just another body in the slaughter if he had lived they would have to kill him later
Yes, that's what i was getting at. He needed to do it to survive, but it's still an act spear himself obviously isn't okay with.
Letting them live and grow up to get revenge is just a bad idea.
Kill or be killed, if kids are dumb enough to stand in the way that's not anyone's problem
Don't bring your kid as a meat shield like some of the mothers did to a fight then.
Start shit, get hit.
It’s just the point of the show, like Genndy said with the baby seal. Though in this case the baby seal was asking for it
This, it's a fricked up situation all around. Just enjoy the carnage and stfu about slavery, Americans are obsessed with slavery tbh.
>Take slaves from other people nearby
>Don't expect retaliation in any capacity
Does Spear understand the meaning of slavery? Can he comprehend?
Yes.
I think everything highly sentient being can understand the concept of being held against your will.
next episode
>it's night
>episode starts with mira bouncing up and down, looking upward and sweaty making moany noises
>cut to spear also moving rhythmically, sweaty and looking down
>pan away from spear and mira's adrenaline sex and make your way to fang's thousand yard stare. the calm has given her time to father her thoughts.
>she looks over to spear and mira, focussing on spear more
>back to fang
>back to mira
>back to fang
>flash back to fang and red moments ending the flash back with red dying
>fang lets out some low sound and looks away
>morning comes
>spear wakes up before mira and gets his spear
>looks for fang to help him hunt
>fang nowhere to be seen
How big is Spear
a couple months ago someone did some calculations and determined that spear would have a small wiener
How can he please his dino wife then?
with love, 132212941. with love
Really good episode
Spear and fang did nothing wrong
Spear and Fang disappearing into the red mist and proceed in stealth killing was my favorite part
I can’t wait to wait see the chief piece of shit and son die
I wonder how the frick the two of them plan on fighting fricking spear and fang
Supernatural boost probably
By all rights they haven’t a clue what they’re even trying to fight
They can probably wager it was a warrior and a beast
They do their best and get UNGA'd
On the question of the last child I go with daughter because it rounds out Mother and Son dying and leaves Father and Daughter to pursue Fang and Spear
Thanks for jumping straight to unmarked spoilers, wienersuckers
>when the Vikings go straight to your ass
I wonder if Egyptians are sweet
This episode felt like 'Rage of the Ape-men' times ten and that was the last episode before mid-season hiatus, how are they going to top this one?
Reminds of the crossover idea I saw for Primal with this version of the Flintstones
>Spear is recognized as a MIA war combatant from someone in his old unit, and is taken to a mental rehabilitation center while fang is taken to a dino preserve to interact with a few of her own kind
>Spear regains his ability to speak, which he lost due to trauma
>Spear attends lodge meetings with Fred and Barney
>Spear still can't get over his PTSD and Fang is also too traumatized to interact properly with her own kind at the preserve, so Fred and Barney end up helping Spear bust her out and the two go off on their own again, knowing they are too broken to fit back in with modern society.
I think the protagonists are too overpowered. How do they slay when outnumbered 100 to 2 against people more skilled and advanced than them? They take a thousand arrows and don't even struggle to walk after? Come on
Is this the new doom after everything else got BTFO?
Primal's world is like an RPG. Spear and Fang fought so many enemies and boss monsters they're practically level 80+
>They take a thousand arrows and don't even struggle to walk after?
>both are bleeding heavily
>Spear is using his weapon as a cane to walk
>the two of them straight up plummet on the boat exhausted
Do you ever get tired of being stupid?
>the flashbacks of two people who have never even seen them are totally accurate guys!
>it makes sense that their bleeding wounds only show up at the last convenient moment but not during the battle itself!
It's a cartoon. It's exactly what happened because it's all made up to begin with.
>the boat is not at the dock and blood stains are everywhere
>u-unreliable narrator!
>the whole slaughter of the village is not shown for brevity sake and because both characters were covered in mist
>w-why are the wounds showing up now?
It's people like you for why subtle storytelling is dead, you need everything explained to you just so you can continue to browse your phone instead paying fricking attention
>the two celts have a vision of exactly what the attackers look like without ever meeting them
>fang literally bleeds all over in one scene and in the next has no wounds
>b-but you're the one who killed storytelling and not me for shitting all over common logic that doesn't match my fanatical desires!
>the two celts have a vision of exactly what the attackers look like without ever meeting them
that's not what the flashback is implying, it's showing where the main characters are heading next after they were done killing, am I being rused here?
Bro that wasn't a vision
They didn't have a vision of what they looked like you fricking moron, that was for the audience, tracking skills depicted a tale of events to them the same way people in CSI are able determine movement and acts that were performed in a crime scene.
You're straight up too stupid for TV, there is quite literally no hope for you as a person.
Project some more, homosexual
Didn't read your post, die in a fire.
You first troony. Concession accepted. have a nice day.
Didn't read your post, die in a fire.
Didn't read your post, die in a fire.
Didn't read your post, die in a fire.
In posts like that you are supposed to post an image of the guy you are quoting, not of yourself.
That quoted troony is literally mindbroken and spamming the same reply to every post. He lost lol
You can't even tell when you've lost...
Then why did you post an image of yourself?
Did you forget about spear chucking spears through entire dino bodies or jumping so hard against a tree that he left a hole?
It was an even fight
T. rex
Fang is a rather intelligent dinosaur with a lot of experience in human behavior and a tough one at that, and Spear is probably some neanderthal freak of nature that has been subject to a lot of weird shit, most of all that weird hulk like transformation.
This episode gave us this so it’s already my favorite
please tell me this random crybaby chieftain isn't the scorpion 🙁
he's not, just another pawn of him, and going by the trailer snippets
>he's going to fight Spear on top of the giant vulture
>at some point, his remaining child gets killed
>he goes to the Scorpion King to ask for power
>he becomes the flame demon in the trailer
The Viking leader seems to have strong thematic ties to fire. He cremates his family and burns his entire village to ashes. Him being the Fire Demon from the trailer would be sick
is the fire demon supposed to be Surtr?
>He cremates his family and burns his entire village to ashes.
Some Vikings did this. It was part of a ritual ceremony.
I think the first historical source for that was ibn bhatuta who recorded Slavic/Nordic people doing the burning of the boat. Also iirc they would have set a slave volunteer to drug, rape and burn alive.
>Slavic/Nordic
Probably the Rus-Vikings then, weird mish-mash of Slavic and Nordic cultures and practices.
>too moronic to understand the show about a caveman and a dino going around killing stuff
>instead of conceding just double down on being moronic
many such cases
So my ex told me she was perfectly fine with the Haitian revolution ending with the genocide of all the European people in it.
It's explicit that they killed the kids and woman at the end instead of sending them somewhere else.
Kinda of a similar situation, I do feel a little bad about the people but they were also slavers so definitely not as bad.
Were the kids and women actively attacking
-Insert joke about French people here-
I never paid much attention to it but I love the "boxing the air" running animation.

Am I supposed to be holding these people to modern standards or something of the sort? I felt bad for both parties.
That's kind of the point of the episode
We as the audience understand the perspective of both people
They may have been slavers but they were people with families and this was their home they were defending
But we also under Spear and Fang's perspective on attacking when attacked due to them being from a place where that's the law of the jungle. Granted Spear felt remorse for the killing of children but once that line was crossed he realized he can't go back
He tried to go back! He tried to bail once he saw they were sending the babies out to die.
He did
But once the mist came in, that's when the true slaughter began
Wait did the episode already come out? Is it not tonight?
The episode leaked I guess?
They've been releasing the episodes early on HBO max
>fang ate someone whole
I hope what the Viking was wearing won’t hurt her belly 🙁
One has to wonder how strong her stomach acid is
I mean she hasn't been eating metal it seems, just ones with fur belts and clothes
Spear may have to give her a belly rub
God I wish that were me
I wouldn't say the Vikings were the slave owners necessarily. I'm guessing they were only collecting slaves for the Scorpion King. But whether or not the Vikings were forced to collect slaves by the Scorpion King has yet to be seen
Either way they had a choice and they chose the wrong way
So enslave or die?
I kind of think they're being co-erced into capturing slaves for a bigger empire too. If they don't maybe the Scorpion Kingdom starts taking slaves from the Viking families.
On a side note I find the state of the captured interesting. None of them seemed bloodied or beaten, none of them were in chains or the sort either, even in their shack.
Excluding the ones on the ship, of course. I mean in episode 3.
The type is slavery of the past wasn't as physically brutal as the one Americans and therefore media often portrays
I'm fully aware of Norse slavery not being as brutal as more modern renditions of it int he west.
>Viking chief might become demon dude in Vidarr
>Vidarr killed fenrir by breaking its jaw
I don’t like where this is going
I’m worried about the Vidarr title card, what if the father manages to kill fang in a letter episode?
Given how Vidarr is the Norse Deity of Vengeance, and overtly kills a giant beast by stabbing it in the heart and ripping off its jaw, If there's a Vidarr Part 2 I bet someone is going to die.
I don’t want fang to die though 🙁
This is probably the thing Gendy mentioned that will piss everyone off
What if the chieftain is becoming Surtur? He’s a giant with a fire motif
On a related note and continuing the themes of both fire and vengeance:
>Finding Iðunn alone while Þjazi was out to sea on a boat, Loki transformed her into a nut and carried her back, flying as fast as he could.
Fang gonna die confirmed
I think he might actually be becoming Surtur with the whole fire motif
People are talking about the episode titles.
But what if he doesn’t become the giant in Vidarr, what if he becomes it in a later episode? That changes the title symbolism, doesn’t it?
I don't think many people expect the Chieftain to become the fire giant that soon.
Vidarr is just about revenge as symbolism, not that he's actually going to turn into the norse god Vidarr. Don't know how you aren't following this.
Because people are saying fang will die because of the Vidarr story where he kills fenrir. If that’s going to happen, wouldn’t it make more sense if the later episode is called Vidarr?
Don't worry, we pray a little to the Scorpion man and get ourselves an undead flaming Fang
Fang will die and Spear will go full fricking Odin and drive Gungnir through Vidarr's heart.
I'll confirm your death before I confirm Fang's
Ok guys, I was looking at the season 2 trailer again and I’m almost 100% sure the fire demon is the chieftain now. The ground looks the same in the demon shot and the scorpion shot
You mean the sky?
That too, but I meant there’s steam coming off the ground in both shots
crazy how if mira just didn't try to be a hero everything would have gone smoothly, then she tries to pussy out after the fact as if spear and fang wouldn'thave been killed if they
What the frick are you on about? How did anything she did or didn’t do affect the fight?
reminder that the episode still ain't out
spear came to get her, had she not tried to free everyone, then there would not have been a fight at all
No they were definitely going to kill spear what are you talking about
you're just a fricking butthole, aren't you. SPOILER
a party of 2 would not have been spotted. if mira left with spear, as originally planned then they'd definitely have gotten away. spear knows how to be sneaky
He's talking about Spear saving Mira. He didn't give a shit about the prisoners, he was only there for her and even tried leaving with just her. The entire party ended up going with him in an obviously open space because she refused to leave without them all.
Why did he do it?
I felt like spear and fang were killing those Vikings too easily. It especially seems silly for spear to be tanking all those arrows and being more or less fine. Like is his skin thicker then fangs?
They were basically samurai jack level of op this episode and I dont think it's a good thing.
>They were basically samurai jack level of op this episode and I dont think it's a good thing.
It's the mist, man. I'm telling you.
So do we think the chieftain is going to ask for help in Vidarr or a future episode, because that might change the naming symbolism
If I had to guess, that's later. The next episode it just about hunting the two normally.
Then that would change the symbolism. The giant wouldn’t be Vidarr then, it would be something else.
Maybe I’m just coping because I don’t want fang to die, idk
No one is saying the fire giant is Vidarr. What are you talking about?
Ok maybe I should rephrase it. People are saying fang will die because of the episode title referencing the god that kills the beast. Even though she isn’t dying that episode, obviously.
So if the episode where he gets the powerup to potentially have a shot at winning isn’t Vidarr, that renders the whole title predicting the death thing moot, right?
No, because as another post already mentioned there could just be a part 2.
I guess we will know by the 17th then, as they’ve been dropping the titles and synopsis on wednesdays
Subsequent Pain is thought to be added on top of previous pain in what is called "compounding" the Pain.[13]
>Throughout childhood, more elaborate "defenses" develop, as the early unmet needs keep pressing for satisfaction in symbolic, and therefore inevitably unsatisfying, ways
Explain what this means to a moron like me
Less than 5 hours
Eagerly awaiting the twist that this is all in the future.
Everyone's behavior is damaged and messed up on some level because of some automatic and uncontrollable response to a perceived attack/neglect/injustice upon you even if none occurred or it was completely innocuous and it's left an adopted behavior/programming permanently inside of you because of it.
Speaking of cadillacs & dinosaurs, if you haven't already you should read the original comic (xenozoic tales). The cartoon really doesn't do it justice.
The videogame also tried to be more close to the comics with all the weird mutants and the butcher guy
Don't really remember the butcher, been years since I read the comic. Maybe once Mark Schultz finally finishes the story I'll reread it.
I mean the videogame is way more violent, so closer to the comic
You know what? I'll do that
I got caught up on Something Is Killing The Children and need more stuff to read
Why would you advice people read an unfinished and therefore unsatisfying series?
Feel like I just got done watching a movie. And there are still 6 episodes left
Wait, how the frick are they supposed to beat that fire giant, and if Fang dies like some theorize, how the frick will spear beat it alone?
Rival god interference they will briefly mantle Spear
Fang becomes Spear's stand
>how the frick will spear beat it alone
Simple, Mira replaces Fang
Word is the Gendy deal was canceled because of less animation mandate by discovery. Its over before it even bagan.
Primal season 2 is completely finished but sucks for Genndy if true.
>the show lives and dies with spear and fang’s story
Pottery
So what, we only get season 2 and that's it?
What's Primal's future now that HBO Max is culling it's animation department?
Dead
I think it’s over after season two. I’m fine with it. I hated the anthology idea, the show is about spear and fang, once their story ends it’s over
It doesn’t matter because Genndy planned to end it with this season regardless.
It’s ratings are abysmal because of his moronic anti Toonami stance so it would have been doomed regardless
>Genndy planned to end it with this season regardless
Why do you lie? He's talking about future seasons.
Also it won 5 Emmys
Emmys aren’t viewership
Did Genndy fire you or something? Is that why you do nothing but troll here?
What are the ratings like anyway?
Thursday
12:00a - Primal S2 - 205 0.08
Worse than Birdgirl did still, but better than last week. Better than this weeks Tuca and Bertie
Saturday
12:00a - Primal S2 (r) 238 0.10
Not saying it would make an enormous difference, but keeping the action show away from the action block is clearly a moronic choice
HBO Max isn’t even the main concern. Not ONE show from AS has been renewed since Discovery took over. They have been courteous and allowed seasons to complete, but once they do it’s cancelled after a month. Rumors are already circulating that Birdgirl has its cancellation being announced in a few days
>Rumors are already circulating that Birdgirl has its cancellation being announced in a few days
Good.
>Rumors are already circulating that Birdgirl has its cancellation being announced in a few days
I hope this is true
I’m not ready for fang to die bros
Calling it now; fang dies, mira's people die, spear kills scorpion king, he and mira go live with the celts and they start a new family
I have $50 on a Mira face-heel turn.
At most she's gonna want to genocide and Spear won't want that
You know there can just be a part 2, right? The episode titles already show that Colossus is going to have a part 1 and part 2.
for
I didn’t think of that….
Well I guess we just gotta wait until the rest of the synopses drop
>people are acting shocked Fang will die
Are you guys really so dense that you missed the neon deathflag in the second episode? Genndy isn’t subtle
I’m just coping
What’s the death flag?
She had segggx baby and now she's gonna pump out some dino eggs for Spear to look after
So if there isn’t a Vidarr part II, does that change our predictions or will she die anyways?
How much longer until the stream?
So, uh, how are spear and fang supposed to bring this guy down, he is literally on fire
Just piss on it, problem solved.
didn't you see the leak?
spear throws a spear at it, fang bites it
Throw a rock at him
How do I cope with fang inevitably dying? Her and spear are like my favorite characters that have been created in the last decade and I don’t want to see either die
Cry
Commission the furry community artisans to construct a Fang suit and become Fang.
You will ensure Fang lives on forever.
Move on and start waifuing Mira
>waifuing an objectively worse girl
>human sized
>doesnt roar
>has a vegana instead of a cloaca
>cant eat you or shred you to bits
How is she worse?
>lists all the reasons she’s worse
>”why is she worse”
Imagine if the daughter viking missed the flaming arrow
>daughter
The boy has his mother's face
And? It has a boy's voice.
>daughter
im ten minutes into this episode and jesus christ this is a fricking blood bath. I feel bad for the kids but like, thems the breaks when you enslave the friend of a psychotic neanderthal
I’m not ready for Fang to die bros. Especially not at the hands of that Viking bastard
She obviously isn’t going to die you idiot there are more episodes with her
I mean at the end with the whole chieftain transforming thing
Still no you idiot
don't worry, man. i'm sure the son will be the one to kill her instead
If anything the Son dies in two weeks.
What lead does the Chieftan have?
Spear at least knew their symbol
There's dinosaur tracks all over the village. and seeing how there's a missing boat he knows it's probably traveling with people.
And if he see's Mira, with the scorpion sign painted on her head, he's going to know that Spear was at his camp before it got destroyed.
YEAH I"M GLAD SPEAR AND FANG KILLED THEM AND I HOPE THEY BURN IN HELL
Based
What makes you so sure she won’t die at the end? Everyone else seems to think she will.
Because it’s only season 2
It’s the end of their story though, Genndy posted a The End card on Instagram
So how is Fang going to die?
Saving spear's life
This show is literally the best thing to happen to cartoons in years
the big tooth is on the wrong side
good catch, thanks
Good job
Spear and Mina don't really have sailing skills or supplies. Vikings should be able to find them easily
True they somehow had a rough idea of where she was the second time she got kidnapped
You know what? Godzilla cartoon in the style of Primal. Yes or no?
>have an over 50 to 1 advantage
>still lose
How can vikeks even compete?
Heavy Ballista? Tar covered in pitch and lit on fire? Poisoned Meat? Mead drinking contest? Spiked Chains?
A REALLY BIG ROCK!?
Just watched the newest episode. We're OFFICIALLY Conan now, bros.
>Fang's dramatic entrance just for her to fall through the roof of the house
lol
Could they have survived a Viking raid?
The vikings have steel weapoons. These guys are Neolithic.
I’m pretty sure they had axes
Iron.
>Send nursing mothers and children into battle
>Your society crumbles overnight
How could this be happening to me?
None of them were expecting a caveman with a T. rex
people seem to keep leaving out the part were the attack is in their own village
Because he’s trying to free slaves
In their village, and he only wanted to free mira.
not really, he was only there for mira and if she went with him without caring about the other slaves this episode wouldn't have happened funny enough
Spear didn't give a shi tabout hte slaves, he only cared about Mira. that fight wasn't about the slaves either, it was about survival.
they also ditched the slaves to survive on their own in the wilds, and probably die too, since spear ,fang, and mira took the boat
Because Spear was gonna die and they can’t fit everyone
She obviously has an idea of where they’re going, she pointed them in a direction and probably told them to head to the coast along that river or fjord so they could catch up later
Which is immaterial to the fact that as the people see it there’s a fricking dinosaur in town and everybody goes at the threat including people that probably should have hung back at the edge at the least
These people were absurdly aggressive and it cost them
Yeah that was pretty stupid. They didn’t even bother hiding
>These people were absurdly aggressive
This. Spear was literally the only person to even attempt to prioritize the safety of a child over killing enemy combatants.
It worked for the IRL Germanics against Rome apparently
I usually hate to "both sides" things but this episode just felt pretty tragic all around, although I lean more on Spear/Fang/Mira's side. Slavery sucks and the village could've just known when to back down but idk, vikings I guess. I am starting to get worried for Fang though, I feel like she can't keep tanking these fights the more progressive the civilizations they come across.
Just you wait until ARMORED FANG shows up.
The moment Spear caught the dudes arm in his mouth and ripped off a piece I knew this episode was going to be good
>send out a whole team of bear riders
>come back with 1 deer
Bears aren't that great for hunting parties. You want stuff like wolves or big cats for easy hunting.
They looked more decked out for war than hunting, maybe they just picked the deer up on their way back
loved the animation for the viking chief but he kept reminding of the dad from story out of north america lol
Anyone got the Mega for Episode 3?
Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal S02E03 - Dawn of Man 720p HMAX WEB-DL

When does the new ep hit HBO max
Fang will not die
Yes I’m in denial, what are you going to do about it
Laugh at you when it happens.
Who/what is going to kill fang?
Demon god.
So is Spear called Sword now or what?
>those anons who unironically want the Vikings to kill spear and fang
The absolute state
>homies upset that Primal is primal
The inclusion of written-history-era humans has been justified by depicting a different kind of primal aspect of humanity; when war was a whole-people thing and defeat could mean complete destruction.
What the hell is with you mongs thinking Fang is going to just up and die in the middle of the season
They already pulled that fakeout
We think she’s going to die in the end, anon. The synopses show she’s at least around until episode 8
The signs are all there anon, Fang is gonna be kill
Imagine the outrage.
Unless the finale is called Vidarr part II I don’t think this means anything. I’m pretty sure it’s just the Viking revenge plan and him being the god of revenge
We need Odin and that first, we've seen no gods bar the dark god.
Vidarr is the Norse god of Vengence and Oaths. The Chief literally swore an oath of Vengence.
Nah bro this obviously means the chief kills fang
I don't think he will. I think instead he will be involved in breaking the cycle of brutality and vengence.
How so
The Vikings carrying the symbol of the Scorpion King, I think they're vassels who have themselves been conquered. The chief will either be a bad guy to roadblock Spear or he'll abandon his vengence when Spear kills the scorpion king.
The Chief is the Scorpion guy Mira was talking about it, the giant is the one he worships
>Vikings
>Scorpions
homie this is literally Conan, the Vikings are just warrior-serfs for Not!Thulsa Doom. We've not seen the literal Assyrian Empire and their god-king.
Besides, we know the Viking Chief worships the norse gods because he swears an oath to Vidarr.
They spell it out this is the guy who led the slave raids that Mira is scared of
When does he ever swear an oath of vengeance on Vidarr specifically? He isn't a god of vengenace, it's just associated with him because he avenges his fathere's death.
because he says the word Vidarr and like all other people he's been speaking an actual language.
>because he says the word Vidarr
The only word that comes out of his mouth is Rikka, he name of his wife. What the hell are you talking about?
Bro I think your place has a gas leak, get to clearer air and call the inspector
He never said that
>swears an oath
Literally fricking when homie
The Scorpion King is likely the angry viking chief. The big god guy on the chair is somoene else. I thought thehelmet at the end made this really obvious.
Nah, like
Said I think the Scorpion King is a Thulsa Doom fella. We've had hags and witches we need a proper sorceror.
I’m going to cheer when the Vikings die
So fang is either going to die or the two are splitting up
Either way it’s going to hurt like a fricking b***h
Be honest: did you watch it on TV, or did you stream the Mega?
Finally watched this episode
Holy frick that was badass. I was actually a little shocked watching Spear lop off limbs like nothing - I know the guy is a walking trunk but god damn
viking swords are really good and no one was really wearing armor in the village
Chief
>helmet has many horns
>wields an axe instead of the sword in the drawing
Chair god
>horns match exactly
>haven’t seen his weapon
>very distinct eyes, the only other distinct feature of his body in the drawing
Are u guys really?
has many horns
Yes, it does. Was this not obvious enough? I thought it was pretty blatant.
>First Mira, now Ryka.
I believe that Genndy has excellent taste.
Rikka.
>not mentioning fang
>all this talk of fang dying
I think they’re splitting up at the end instead. They’ve been setting this up and episode 2 is literally called “shadow of fate”
>Fang pregnant
>Spear yearning for civilisation
>Both part on good terms, shot of fang with new clutch in a safer place and Spear living among a happy village
Good end.
This has to be the best Cinemaphile show currently airing, yeah?
There's not much competition so yeah
Best Cinemaphile show of the last 5 years.
(Suck it Arcane)
( i mean you're good, but Primal is more effective)
GAYBlack folk IN HYBORIA
Did the Chief put the younger person in Varangian armor at the end?
Yeah.
That's fricking rad as hell.
yes.
Yeah, All the bear riders just dropped like flies, it was as if they didn't even put up a fight.
I mean fricking Mira killed one, they just felt like a big massive worf moment.
One of the bears also sat on Spear and decided to do absolutely nothing else so that it could get stabbed through the skull. The bear fighting part left a lot to be desired. The rest was great, however.
I mean, bears aren't really known to be very easy to tame. The idea that they're tolerating riders at all is ridiculous.
You bring out bear riders when you want something getting mauled. But they just worked like big, slightly bitey horses.
Still, it’s 2 Vikings against spear and fang, it’s not exactly an even match
>Vikings
>not much training in actual combat
I expected a fricking brutal fight where fang and spear need to fight for dear life, instead it was like fricking cutscene dante.
Where did you get casually from it
considering she literally walks it off to have a rampage later with zero limping.
Not much if a rampage, it’s chasing after massively slower literal bite size humans
By literally sneaking around stealtily when you basically got a fricking massive cut in your thigh.
It’s mainly walking and chewing
Literal shieldwalls
Literal skirmishing formations with Javalins
They were fighting using actual tactics, doesn't matter because fang regenerates like wolverine and spear is literally unstoppable.
>Surrounding someone is something only a hardened warrior could come up with
Still more tactics than a literal militia can pull off. They did better than the bear riders even.
>How is he going to stop fang just chomping and eating him?
Armor plus being the one making the ambush instead of being ambushed
Yeah, except she literally did that already. She can still throw him around like a ragdoll like all the others. He doesn't even have a bear.
it's actually bullshit how spear got out of that. he should not have been able to move under that thing and sit should have been fang who frees him right before he drowned
Spear has always been strong. Man dragged Fang when he had to
It's still a bear literally forcing itself down on you.
Incredible episode.
No one did anything wrong.
>those Vikings gave me indigestion, can you rub my tummy please?
I'm pretty sure that this is the last season for Fang and Spear. And who know if the show will get renewed at all with how insane that merger went.
Man, I finished rewatching season 1 inbetween episodes and it made me forget how much of a UNIT Fang is when compared to regular ass humans
This was some good shit definitely up there with the zombie sauropod episode
>episode 6 is Vidarr
>spear and fang are still alive after it
I don’t think the revenge plot went well, Viking bros
Honestly, there's nothing stopping a followup episode later on.
You lost vikek
Mutt detected.
>if you aren’t rooting for the Vikings you must be a mutt!
Have fun being on the losing team
>Thinks there are fricking "teams" in a fricking show.
See, mutt logic.
lol
So, with all the shit going down at WB this is likely going to be the last season of Primal
It's probably going to have a real ending this time right? Surely Genndy learned his lesson the last two times his shit got canned and made a proper ending right? R-right?
I think so because Genndy mentioned future seasons being completely different. So this may been the proper ending for Spear and Fang.
What if fang farted on a Viking and it killed him
This is why furgays shouldn't have been allowed in these threads
It’s a legitimate question
>Spear slamming his sword over and over again on that bear that had him by the arm
idk why spear was so anal about red and fang killing killing villagers. every anthropologist worth his salt knows that neanderthals hunted and ate humans
Actually most find neanderthals tended to work pretty closely with cro magnons and homosapiens
I fricking love this theory. It's stupid as shit, but it satisfies my pulp-loving sensibilities.
No, not the war stuff, the idea that neanderthals were hideous cannibal sasquatch-people.
I recommend Quest for Fire if you haven't seen it. There's sasquatch-type humanoids at the beginning.
Seen it, love it, recommend it.
A smaller amount sure but by no means an insignificant power up
Fair you feel that way but I would like to remind you that
>Big Monke drank Aku bathwater and was already a fricking bvll after killing the strongest gorillas in his monke tournament.
Said dino could cut an entire triceratops herd in tiny pieces within a few seconds
>Spear and Fang survived or tanked countless life-threatening injuries. Despite all this, they are still in peak frick-your-shit-up form
>Spear dragged Fang's PHAT ass miles on a makeshift stretcher.
Good. Frick them Bear-Swadians.
>well would you look at that, the consequences of our own actions
To be fair, from the way they treated the four slaves at the end, they didn't even seem to be cruel.
Just slaves are a very profitable business.
That’s because they don’t have anyone for them to be slaves to
Anon.. they were not keeping slaves for themselves, they were selling them.
Does that really make it any better?
People who traded slaves still used them. Actually that’s a big part of training them for use
Honestly confused by this. They should have been burned alive.
This might surprise you, but slavers in antiquity and the medieval times weren't all cartoonishly evil like American slavers were painted as.
>Didn't even seem to be cruel
somebody at some point was raped.
>b-b-but my slavers, they weren't so bad after all!
You lost, Jimmy Bob. Suck it up.
Don’t be insensitive, his name is cletus
Now I wish for a picture of Fang and Spear in Union uniforms killing confederate vikings while Union Dixie plays in the background.
>Genndy is going to pull a TLOU 2 and have the Vikings kill them
Bravo genndy
in all likelihood the Vikings are going to make an appearance in 1, maybe 2 episodes as these stalking ambush hunters. I predict they either get a whole episode with slow building tension as they scope out their prey and lay the perfect trap, or they show up after Spear and Fang are tired out from a different antagonist. The dad dies, kid cries, Spear spares him, Fang doesnt.
I can’t wait until fang chomps those Viking fricks
Leave none left, let them rot in hell
The Vikings entered world under the childish delusion that they were going to pillage and murder everyone else but no one was going to murder them. They have sowed the wind, now they will reap the whirlwind.
-Sir Spear Harris
>episode about a literal massacre releases right when WBD begins the massacre
Fang pussy
>Chuds latching onto a show because Spear represents their father
LMAO
I just think cavemen are cool
The one detail that would've made this absolutely flawless kino is if Spear had red eyes during the mist sequence
