I don't read Garth Ennis. Everything else I read from him I didn't like so I didn't see the reason to read this one. Furthermore I'm still reading the original run of Punisher and thus would not have read it yet anyway. Is this the same as his other work or no?
I read the boys, didn't like it, looked into him. Despises comic book heroes but only really writes about comic book heroes. He just seems like edge edge edge, and snotty elitism from his other work. Perhaps this is better but I'm honestly not of high hopes.
iirc Punisher MAX takes place in its own locked world where its just Frank.

I see Aaron's run as a different continuity. I enjoyed until the final arc, some reveals, twists and turns were outright stupid. Love Dillon though.

It was supposed to be the same continuity. There's flashbacks to stuff that happened during Ennis's run. But I don't think of it as being the same continuity either.
I'm an Ennis fan, and I can tell you that The Boys was crap. He did easily the best run on Hellblazer (though Delanogays will claim otherwise), and his war comics are 10/10. I mean on par with the best war movies you've ever seen, 10/ fricking 10.
Punisher MAX is the most intense Punisher you'll ever read. The only other writer that comes close is Dixon, and he was still neutered by being mainstream 90's Marvel. Ennis' Knights Punisher is a cartoon, so don't let that turn you off of what he does in MAX.
>Despises comic book heroes but only really writes about comic book heroes
factually wrong.
again, Ennis satirizing your super favorite super heroes caused you to enter a state of derangement. apply ointment to your rear.
You guys seem ass blasted someone calls this loser out for being a shit writer. His military stories suck, Preacher sucks, the boys suck, crossed sucks. I bet this sucks too. He's all edge and no point.
>n-no you're mad!
I simply stated a fact. He also writes stories that aren't about super heroes. I'm sorry you're unfamiliar with his work and you think you can make a solid judgement on it. I hope you can grow into a better person.

I'm laughing actually. He isn't good. I'm unimpressed. I think he is just very edgy and b***hes about things some people also hate so they side with him. Dumbass doesn't even understand the things he hates. He's also a government cuck who also understands nothing about real combat or the military.
>no point.

When you claim your work is trying to say things about society or be a satire of something but it isn't and is just childish whining it's a problem. Stick to shlock if it's all your capable of.
I enjoyed Soviet, but I'm tired of Eastern European gangsters. Also Frank and Russian Frank cutting through contemporary Special Forces because
"Muh Vietnam" and "Muh Afghanistan," is kind of silly. And the Netflix show was garbage, convince me otherwise.
Just trying to start a conversation, didn't mean to appear hostile. I'm just baffled at the praise the show got. It seemed by the numbers for a thriller, especially the conspiracy angle. Ultimately the show was very in name only. The recent Reacher series was far from great, but for the most part it never did a song and dance around the type of man Reacher is and what he does. The need to give Frank a character arc was not only idiotic, but the constant need to hit the reset button was weak writing. It's an issue I had with the cancelled Quarry series, it wasn't bad, but the show was occupied with telling us how he came to be the cold and calculating hitman, rather than showing us the cold and calculating hitman from the books. I do commend a lot of individual moments from the show though, some stellar action sequences that pull no punches.
Random anons say this about Frank Miller as well, but not even best-selling novelists and award-winning TV writers write better comics than either of them.
But if you can, by all means do.
I liked Cosmic Ghost Rider, an all Powerful Frank Castle being chill as hell seems to make some sort of sense. It never took itself too seriously or attempted nuance.
>Member when Frank became an Archangel? >Member when Frank became an Frankenstein monster? >Member when Frank fought a transvestite cyborg zombie? >Member when Frank had a gun that shoot swords >Member when Frank tried to kill Archie
Punisher has had some weird timelines over the years
The first two arcs I still feel like he's trying to get the Marvel Knights run out of his system. Lot of jokes in them that would have worked better with Dillon's art.
It amazes me how little reading comprehension people have, even when it comes to a fricking comic book. In Ennis' run alone there are multiple times where it's made clear that Frank is a selfish person who kills people because he enjoys it.
>garth ennis butthurt poster >argument boils down to he can't write about the things he writes because he isn't a soldier / super hero / vigilante / CIA asset / etc
it's like this every thread lmao put on a tripcode.
Okay you got me. But I'm still laughing. And so what? He doesn't know those things, so clearly he can't write well about it. All my favorite writers actually have first-hand experience in what they write about. Like Dan Slott, he wrote Doc Ock taking over the body of Peter Parker, and it's great because Slott is a fat ugly frick that really wishes he had the body of a super hero.
I ain't that guy I think Garth Ennis both sucks and thinks he's somehow profound or has the right to look down on things when he himself is a moron. He's the definition of a fedora tipper but with a tough guy act as well.
No he can't write because he can't write. How things progress and get resolved are moronic in his stories. The writing is shit. He has no talent. Hence why the show "the boys" didn't bother actually following the comic. Because if they did it would be shit, like the comic.
He's a slasher villain for criminals, he can't be stopped, he can't be killed, and he'll never stop coming
The only fundamental difference between him and Michael Myers, not just superficial things, fundamentally, is that the people he's killing "deserve" it
Look at that fricking moron, he's so fricking smug because he writes every comic like he thinks he is smarter than me! Who the frick does that? He doesn't even know he yet he thinks he's smarter than me! I bet he fricking thinks he's oh so much more intelligent than everyone else because he writes these comics that try to make fun of all the shit I like! And it's all fricking edge too!
Not sure if favourite but the ending of The Slavers left me a wreck
Oh I feel ya anon. Remember when Frank was throwing that c**t against the window?
That and this were some of my favorite moments.
Muh Russians
Muh Russia
Muh IRA
Muh rednecks
All mogged by Italians
Mother Russia(Great balls to the wall action arc)
Man of Stone
In the beginning
Long Cold Dark
>Garth Ennis
not this
MAX is great though. Have you ever read it?
I don't read Garth Ennis. Everything else I read from him I didn't like so I didn't see the reason to read this one. Furthermore I'm still reading the original run of Punisher and thus would not have read it yet anyway. Is this the same as his other work or no?
I've only ever read his Punisher stuff.
I read the boys, didn't like it, looked into him. Despises comic book heroes but only really writes about comic book heroes. He just seems like edge edge edge, and snotty elitism from his other work. Perhaps this is better but I'm honestly not of high hopes.

I also liked Tyger, the Frank prequel
>Despises comic book heroes but only really writes about comic book heroes

you sound like a little b***h, so definitely avoid it and stick to everything you're familiar and comfortable with.
He's not a good writer and has no imagination. I don't like reading what pieces of shit write either.
invalidated, sorry. tie your shoelaces

Kitchen Irish and Barracuda were my least favorite. The second Barracuda arc was good though.
Widowmaker was really good. The Slavers is also good of course. The first arc had a lot of good stuff in it.
>Barracuda
Every time that man appears I just long for when Frank guts him.
You know what Punisher Max story I really liked? The one where Frank goes to England to avenge his friend's son.
Fricking corrupt SAS bastards got what they deserved.
Yeah, Soviet wasn't great, sad to say.
>convince me otherwise
If those are your opinions they are your opinions anon.

Whoever wrote Netflix's Daredevil understood Frank better than in his own show. Still liked the "Hell Broke Luce" scene.
>And the Netflix show was garbage
I liked S1. Never saw S2.
I liked Soviet, tbh. Ennis knows how to pull a sad ending
I can write better comics than Garth Ennis.
List your work anon.
Then do so. There's a serious paucity of good writers in comics, in my opinion.
Random anons say this about Frank Miller as well, but not even best-selling novelists and award-winning TV writers write better comics than either of them.
But if you can, by all means do.
It's like the third time he was the last person standing in the universe but the ending was perfect
How does he do it?
forgot pic
Man too angry to die.
I liked Cosmic Ghost Rider, an all Powerful Frank Castle being chill as hell seems to make some sort of sense. It never took itself too seriously or attempted nuance.
What about that time Frank got a hold of a War Machine suit?
I skipped that run. How was it overall if you read it.
It was fun to see Frank in that armor.
>Member when Frank became an Archangel?
>Member when Frank became an Frankenstein monster?
>Member when Frank fought a transvestite cyborg zombie?
>Member when Frank had a gun that shoot swords
>Member when Frank tried to kill Archie
Punisher has had some weird timelines over the years
I member when he became a Frankenstein monster and beat the shit out of Wolverine's boy.
when Frank became an Archangel?
I do not
Archangel might be the wrong word but he was granted angelic powers and it happened right before Welcome Back Frank
Ah
The first two arcs I still feel like he's trying to get the Marvel Knights run out of his system. Lot of jokes in them that would have worked better with Dillon's art.
Remember when Joss Whedon said Frank is fascist crap
It amazes me how little reading comprehension people have, even when it comes to a fricking comic book. In Ennis' run alone there are multiple times where it's made clear that Frank is a selfish person who kills people because he enjoys it.
Hello Joss
I do. I remember how he brought up the X-Men during that verbal diarrhea.
Hello Wolverine.

Thoughts on the current Ninja Run? I don't know what anyone can do next with Frank.

Being this much of a sperg and shitting up a thread just because someone wrote a specific comic is the staple of the midwit.
I ain't that guy I think Garth Ennis both sucks and thinks he's somehow profound or has the right to look down on things when he himself is a moron. He's the definition of a fedora tipper but with a tough guy act as well.
that's a pretty standard case of projection.
No he can't write because he can't write. How things progress and get resolved are moronic in his stories. The writing is shit. He has no talent. Hence why the show "the boys" didn't bother actually following the comic. Because if they did it would be shit, like the comic.
>Hence why the show "the boys" didn't bother actually following the comic
it's like the comic except it has tr@nny sensibilities
Say what you want but I still like Homelander's suit
The Slavers I think is the quintessential Punisher MAX story. A monster kills monsters
Is Frank Castle a monster?
Absolutely
He's a slasher villain for criminals, he can't be stopped, he can't be killed, and he'll never stop coming
The only fundamental difference between him and Michael Myers, not just superficial things, fundamentally, is that the people he's killing "deserve" it
Beta mindset.
Oh my mistake
You have fun anon
Ennis is living in your heads rent free while he's laughing imagining a superhero getting raped or a fat man dressed as a woman.
Look at that fricking moron, he's so fricking smug because he writes every comic like he thinks he is smarter than me! Who the frick does that? I hate Garth Ennis not for his work. But because he's an Irish protestant and I hate all of them. I'm just racist.
