Faye WAS only hammering dents and doing some welding at first, had/still has someone actually qualified training her over time for the more complicated stuff, makes mistakes doing that stuff because of her inexperience, and she's never presented as some savior in a sea of incompetence. She also wasn't hired straight into a position of authority.

These robots are more complex than cars and car mechanics have to take years of training to be able to deal with all car systems and types of cars.

Sorry, I wasn't the anon you'd been talking to previously. To elaborate on my point, I see it sort of as the same dichotomy of May's failing chassis being an arc that went over hundreds of strips, had several peaks and valleys, and ultimately changed the landscape of several relationships within the cast. It was an actual storyline and was moderately well executed by QC standards. Then Pintsize bought one with pocket change a week later, which undermined all of that to the point Jeph had to lampshade it. There's been no worldbuilding on what these chassis actually are, how expensive one is relative to an average person's wages, the effect on human-tier AI on an economy when AI don't need sleep/food/most human accommodations, etc.
Things have exactly as much gravitas as is needed for the current comic page and then any implications are discarded. It's tiresome.
