That's it. Punished marten finally found a way to kill the demiurge and set himself free.
That motherfricking spineless gay bastard actually did it.
These people are having a lot of heart to hearts over life decisions about an interview in a competitive field that Claire has no experience in. Not a job offer, not the afterglow of a promising interview, just the offer OF an interview.
Yeah, when this arc first started, I fully thought that the conflict would be that Marten couldn’t come along, even if he wanted to, so they’d be forced to either break up or try a long distance relationship.
It’s an off-shore gig, right? Iunno how often it is people get to take their partners to those. Unless Marten intends to move to the nearest mainland port, which I guess might be preferable in some ways. But it still would be a bit distancing, especially since Claire would have a job to occupy her, but Marten would just have to start a whole new life from scratch and not even have her there with him.
As I've said many a time about many a QC plot hook, I feel there's a lot of meat on the bone here for a competent author. "Couple has to test out long-distance because of a sudden lucrative opportunity" is an ages-old plot hook but one that can show a lot about how characters handle stress, whether this was a relationship of convenience or of passion, what happens when one of them needs physical affirmation, etc. etc. etc. You could also have the crushing rejection of the interviewer saying "hey, you have no experience and haven't used your degree since obtaining it, why the frick would we hire you, please leave" or even spin it as they try to poach Marten because of his experience as an early adopter of an anthroPC as well as currently working in a library. Lot of potential drama.
What this actually will be is just Marten and Claire as the new main characters with a rotating cast of wacky robots (all wearing skintight clothing, 90% of whom are female or non-gendered) doing wacky robot things. The real question is what ripcord will he pull to bring them back to Northampton when shit falls through? Fire Claire? Have Marten be exiled? Hannelore's dad forces the compound to be put in the middle of massachusetts? The mind boggles.
>implying Jeph would set up a premise like an AI facility he can fill with zany new android (mostly gynoid) characters and not pursue it >implying he'd depict Claire failing at anything
That’s what I find really weird about this. But I guess you just have to attribute that to jeph’s lack of life experience that he doesn’t know the difference between an interview and a job offer.
I have some fricked up autoimmune issues that have rendered my intestines into a garbagefire, so the fact that no matter what ungodly bathroom events occur I can feel actually clean afterwards is a godsend. That shit was $300 and if it broke right now I'd buy a second one with rush delivery.
I like talking shit about this comic and the dumb decisions that Hacks makes at nearly every turn. His only good idea was introducing sexy robots.
Also we occasionally get some drawgays in here which brings fun new stuff to an otherwise boring ass thread about a comic that is the equivalent of a bowl of cold plain oatmeal with just a bit too much water.
What if instead of them being written out of the comic like most people are assuming, we actually follow them to robot island. And the reason random characters are suddenly getting massive inexplicable internet fame is to keep them present despite not being there physically.
if that happens, i'm out. i've been reading this shitheap for 15 years now but that would be the straw to break the camel's back i sort of hope it does happen so i can finally be free
He's not going to write out the troon you delusional shits, the arcs will just alternate between whacky robot shenanigans in Cubetown and LGBTQA++ hijinks in Northampton.
During the underpants fight. Checking back, my first "new" comic was 1745.
Back in 2010. I *am* here forever, aren't I?
I swear QC was super comfy at the time. Was it really, or am I just older? Then again, I used to unironically read CTRl+ALT+DEL a few years bofere that, so...
At the exact time Faye told the story about her dad being shot. I don't know how long ago that was, but feels like forever. Was still a teenager back then.
I read it for a few years, then stopped reading a bit after Marten and Dora broke up. And every single time I wander into these threads, I kinda feel like I've made the right decision.
>tfw you still want somebody to come in >Slap the absolute frick out of faye and lay into her for being a violently abusive alcoholic >Slap the shit out of dora for being a pissant insecure c**t
it's never going to happen and I'm never going to stop wanting it to
>Claire talking about moving away >Jeff tweeting "This arc not the end of QC, don't worry guise!"
Will something finally happen? After all these years?
I guess getting written off to Canada is close enough to getting killed. At least we won't see Claire and Marten anymore (for a while)
Racist
>"I'm going to repeat the mistake that left me stuck in fricking Northampton, MA and this time it'll work!"
He's going to become the dildo tester at the robot library when he finds out they're categorizing those and not information.
>the comic goes back to the beginning but with new characters
>strip by strip, we have to see it all play out again

This would be interesting, and we can't have that.
>Roko Basilisk is actually just what it says on the tin.
>The only reason Martin has a mouth is so he can scream. And the fricksleeve thing.
These people are having a lot of heart to hearts over life decisions about an interview in a competitive field that Claire has no experience in. Not a job offer, not the afterglow of a promising interview, just the offer OF an interview.
Americans, amirite?
Also
Frick off we're full
speaking of 'we're full' why do they think that Marten will be allowed on the AI colony if he's not working there?

Writing out Marten is the final precursor to Jeph coming out as trans.
Cinemaphile called it years ago
>And I hate to be pedantic
She's not just pedantic she's also completely wrong. How fricking stupid is the author?
>How fricking stupid is the author?
Very. If you don't believe me then read some more of this comic.
This is Jeff “raisins are prohibitively expensive” Hacks we are talking about here. He can get pretty damn stupid.
Looks like Martin is well on his way to being trans herself.
If it's so terrible why do you keep spamming it?
We're here every day, what else is new
Because you can't seem to comprehend the answer that is repeatedly given to you.
Which is?
it updates everyday, and has been since 2003. many of us are here out of habit, comiserating. misery loves company
I mean this is a cursed hell site but its ours. The new ones are just too much hassle.
If posting the early Patreon copy deprives Geffy of even a little money, then it must be done
I mean, taking a shit isn't fun but you still do it everyday.
I have a really nice bidet, it's kind of fun
It was shocking how much of a quality of life improvement getting a bidet was.
I have some fricked up autoimmune issues that have rendered my intestines into a garbagefire, so the fact that no matter what ungodly bathroom events occur I can feel actually clean afterwards is a godsend. That shit was $300 and if it broke right now I'd buy a second one with rush delivery.

He should punch this moronic bint in her ugly toad face
It was bound to happen. What's his name has barely been in the comic for so many years.
What if instead of them being written out of the comic like most people are assuming, we actually follow them to robot island. And the reason random characters are suddenly getting massive inexplicable internet fame is to keep them present despite not being there physically.
oh, that's the assumption. They aren't being written out of the comic, the comic is being written out of them.
if that happens, i'm out. i've been reading this shitheap for 15 years now but that would be the straw to break the camel's back
i sort of hope it does happen so i can finally be free
Don't forget, you're here forever.
Terrible, but if it results in Claire being written out of the comic ... Good.
>two more humies gone
Rest in piss you will not be missed.
Haven’t watched Trigun, NERD.
To be honest I’ve had it on my to watch list basically since it came out.
He's not going to write out the troon you delusional shits, the arcs will just alternate between whacky robot shenanigans in Cubetown and LGBTQA++ hijinks in Northampton.
hey Cinemaphile when did you start reading this?
for me it was when page 32 came out. I needed something to read on my way to school that was dumb and the funny robot was great.
during the stabbening (the marigold one, not the previous one)
During the underpants fight. Checking back, my first "new" comic was 1745.

Sometime in college, like 2005 probably when I was bored in the computer lab.
Don't remember exactly, but it was early as frick. Like a lot of people I was bored in computer lab and it was a highly recommended webcomic.
Which is sad given rhat today, even with competition literally decimated, you would struggle to call it even middling.
Is it just me or does Marten look more feminine than ever in the 4th panel?
