she has good enough chemistry with ayo but the story and the humour was practically non-existent. too tumblry in my opinion

yeah, it felt like everything was too improvised with people that weren't funny enough to improvise. with a tighter script it could have been a good movie

          [...]

i was interested in the film but got disappointed
the comedic timing was way off most of the time, and the storyline way too generic up to the obligatory "friends split up" thing that's just annoying
i was hoping for some Gregg Araki type of thing, but it turned out to be more like a Judd Apatow film
the ending fight was neat tho

        >Rachel Anne Sennott[1] was born on September 19, 1995[2] in Simsbury, Connecticut, the daughter of Donna (née Virzi) and Jack Sennott.[3][4][5] She is of Italian and Irish descent,[6][7] and was raised Catholic.[8][9]
Okay, that's a shocker. Although South Italians are not white, and considering she looks swarthy I assume her italian ancestry is southern.

you know swarthy means dark, not pale with blue eyes, right?

She's not even swarthy, she's just a white girl with thick eyebrows

          It's not a shocker

Whites have been playing israelites for centuries in movies.
It's part of the whole kabbalah thing.

this does not look like a movie that would play in more than three theatres, festival films don't flop, their point is getting various prizes on festivals which obviously come with monetary compensation, and they never cost a lot

no wide release because these movies never get a wide release, there's like hundreds of random indie flicks released every year

A24 is the biggest current indie production / distribution company, of course they can allow for a wide release
Cinemaphile is seriously fricked in the head with box office shit
flop means a movie that lost money for a company, indie films almost always never make good cash in theatres, it's a fricking shocker when an indie makes tons of money
yet all those various indie productions and distributors still exist, meaning they make their money back somehow, meaning the theatre results are unimportant, they only release them because there's a chunk of the audience who wants to experience the film in a theater as it is a part of the artistic experience, like looking at a paining in a gallery
basically applying the terms that come from big studio blockbuster filmmaking makes no fricking sense for a different business model

Why are people pushing this literally who so hard?
She’s done nothing, accomplished nothing, no one has heard about her, her movies all bomb terribly

Who the frick is pushing her? She is only talked about in hipster circles because all of her films are indie stuff. And yes, Cinemaphile is too a part of hipsterdom no matter how much some anons try to pretend they're "common people". Black folk on here are on ten layers of contrarianism at once, this is typical hipster shit.
