I like this because it makes MJ look more like her own character than a generic hot chick.
Teen Titans did it first, and both Spiderverse and Arcane did similar things in giving the characters different body types and little flaws that helped define them, but I'd say the middle one also went overboard with some designs and made them less appealing for the sake of diversity where toning it back would've been better.
Don't do it for brownie points, do it because it ties into the character. Who they are, what their powers are, and their role in the story. Go with the most memorable and appealing look. So that way down the line, people will still think of your version as THE character. No matter what comes before or after.
It's bad for that particular character.
