Depends on your genetics. Some people can drink and smoke to their heart's content and die in their 70s, others do the same croak at 50.

why risk it, what benefits is there to have alcoholic shivers and a black tar lung, besides having the "swagger" of dean martin with the voice of Lemmy

While genetics do play a role in longevity, one also must look into the quality of life. How would a heavy life-long smoker's teeth and skin look? Would they be able to run, or even walk, a mile?

I drank like a liter a day for ~5 years in my 20s. Now I'm 32 and like 6 years sober and I'm just barely starting to get back to normal even having spent all that time doing everything possible. An enlarged liver is uncomfortable as frick, always having to make sure you don't sit on that side or else you get nauseous and puke and it just hurts sometimes. You would never know how inconvenient or painful it is until you've got it and by that time it's like 10 years of sobriety to get rid of it if you even can. Also my skin was awesome compared to people I went to HS with because they all were smoking and drinking while I was playing WoW and going to the gym, but now it's getting closer to how some of them look now. Took awhile for the yellow in my eyes to go away and it still comes back sometimes if I go heavy on pasta or something. Eat clen, tren hard anavar give up etc etc

tl;dr: no, it is not sustainable for the length they showed in the show

try N-acetyl-cysteine, will fully repair all the damage you've done in a few weeks, take 1800-2400mg per day before sleeping after eating some sort of fats (I normally drink some milk)

I'm only taking 600 a day for a few weeks and have already noticed I feel better overall. Nothing groundbreaking but definitely something to it. I wish it worked to sort cravings out even though mine are really mild.

        >after eating some sort of fats

        Probably helps it absorb better.

My closest friend was drinking like this, although usually more segregated to weekends (and much greater on such occasions; a handle or two a night on the weekends, plus beers and others during the day) and I'm a little worried. He had been doing that since 19 or 20, and he's 28 now. Finally, he has been easing up. Not sure if he's gonna' make it. He just had a kid, but his kid didn't come out the womb in great shape. Really, I'm worried for both him, his wife and his child. Chainsmoker too. Wife was puffing away, at least 3x a day while pregnant. I saw it and said nothing, because I knew it wasn't my place and wouldn't change anything. Goddamn, though. It's gonna be hard if I lose him in middle age.

. One time when learning to drive this past year my friend and I had quite a few beers in an afternoon, after which he offered to let me drive him and his pregnant wife to his parents' house. This was maybe my 5th time behind the wheel? I think you would've needed the jaw of life to get me out of that seat, I was pushing myself back so hard with my arms gripping the steering wheel. Then, after my dad died, I dabbled in alcoholism myself, drinking a litre or two of wine a day. Rode my gas scooter just fine, never got caught, burping all the way.

        >I lost 70 pounds in 9 months when I quit drinking
I lost 40 pounds in a year just by stop drinking, and changing my diet around, i essentially started eating what my people ate for centuries, the Mediterranean diet, it's basically an omnivorous diet of wholefoods, look it up.. the biggest transformation wasn't from loosing 40 pounds, it was actually from putting some muscle mass on, i started a vegetable garden and did most of the work myself, it's hard work, but definitely rewarding, and incredible hobby that actually pays.. i get free workouts, i get ripped, i get more food than i can eat, and it's quite affordable, seedlings, seeds, fertilizer, compost, all of these can be obtained at incredible prices compared to the prices you pay in the stores, i mean over 1€ for a fricking lettuce, are you kidding me? first time i grew lettuces i was like, "HOLY SHIT, people are fricking stupid!!!"... drinking literally messes with metabolism and protein synthesis, you will eventually become a blob of fat if you drink for enough years, forget all the ripped bad guys drinking booze in movies and tv, that's all marketing, no ripped guy is drinking on a daily basis, maybe they have a drink at some public event, or maybe a glass of wine with a hearty meal...

I went to rehab and was clean for 5 months, but I actually gained weight in that time even though I was going to the gym regularly. I relapsed recently and am back to only a few days sober since drinking again. Sucks, but all I can do is restart. Hopefully I lose weight this time.

We are all gonna make it brahs.

This has to be the biggest lie pushed by movies/tv. Alcoholics looking picture perfect even after years of alcohol abuse. Mad Men unironically got it right because Don looked like shit in the later seasons. He was bloated, red, sweaty all the time, but that's because Jon Hamm was an actual alcoholic by the end of the series.
