This is really good concept robotic engineering vs bio-engineering, two different branches of science clashing toghether. This makes sense in SW lore because as we know times before the empire were civilized times, peak of development so using such armies was perfectly justified.

Lucas picked the directors for ESB and ROTJ because he understood that he's not good at writing or directing movies. Of course for RotJ he chose someone more agreeable and by the time of the prequels he only surrounded himself with yes men and he directed and wrote everything.

I like TPM because of the music and action. Granted Jake Lloyd and Jar Jar are a drag but there is a lot to the movie apart from them. The final battle, the pod race, the first thirty minutes and the Jedi stuff is all fantastic. If you want to call out movies for being boring it would be the OT because it follows all the tropes of a typical adventure movie. Either way the accusation of boring-ness can be flung at any movie if you don’t want to like it.

These threads get spammed because schizo manchildren are everywhere but also because they're not good movies. With Disney Star Wars falling on its face perhaps they thought that maybe we can somehow like the prequels now? Not sure why they would think that maybe they think we need to like at least some Star Wars. After the originals of course. But bait threads like those that suggest the prequels are great works of art or that Lucas is an intellectual only highlight how ridiculous it is. They wouldn't be making those posts if it wasn't such an outrageous and funny idea. In a way it humiliates the prequels even more.

I wonder if they're even for real or just acting moronic for attention. Some do when they say that it's some intellectual work of art (Lucas is not an intellectual and I don't know if he ever claimed otherwise). It began on reddit and those prequel memes that people liked at first but then those gays became too arrogant and again started crying if someone criticizes their cartoons. Lame pop culture became part of their identity which we can see in threads like this that get spammed DAILY. And I also noticed a lot of them also have fake rosy image of Lucas himself as well. This picture is no longer valid. In fact I saw somewhere an updated version when it's "then" and "now" with seething Anakin from AotC.

Prequelhomosexuals had their hooneymoon a couple years ago but now everyone is tired of them, they lost all the goodwill, the memes got stale and instead of laughing they're now autistically defending every criticism of the prequels. Because they're such bad movies and people have been criticizing them for years it's like the equal opposite reaction. It's insecure, zealous defense. Something that fans of actually good movies with good reputation don't need.

It's not contrarianism, it's honesty. It's an assessment of the heart of cinema itself - what it means to be human, what it means to be a human amongst the technology of filmmaking. The prequels were actually Lucas's express fear of 'autonomous' filmmaking. It's why he made them when he did, and how he did. He KNEW what disney was going to do to the series before they even considered establishing a deal to buy the franchise. He deliberately made the prequels the way they were so that, with time their patina would be unveiled, and not only that - George Lucas is a master machiavellian - he knows people can't help but compare. He set up disney for failure by laying a cloud layer for those of a certain 'intellectual stature' to get lost within. Disney, with the assurance of their fans, thought that because the prequels were of such a low quality, they wouldn't have to try hard to make big bucks. See - Lucas wasn't just not lying when he said he never planned to make anymore films, he was essentially spelling out 'it's a trap' for those with eyes. Just think: the droid army - the algorithm, vs the aboriginal peoples of the force, the gungans, the jedi, and the rebels - glorified advertisement at worst - disheartened cash grab at best vs Gesamtkunstwerk einer Zeit.
In the end, It's not about what it means to make a good movie, a proficient movie, an acceptable movie, an inclusive movie, a movie for the fans, for the people, but what it takes to make a GREAT one, warts and all, and have it be THE arc of our dreams. Two by two, the prequels, and the original saga. The puzzle complete. Perfect.
      Well done George. Well done.

If it's top 3 (and it isn't) then Star Wars is shit aside from maybe two movies.
Actually that may be the case. Although I think ROTJ is at least fine it's like two really good movies between 1977 and 1980 and the rest is all about the overrated universe and atmosphere and being in it. So we can still get successful video games but Star Wars doesn't have much to offer outisde of that and now it's so ruined by years of abuse there's no logical explanation for being a fan to this day. Unless someone loves it unconditionally which is fricked up. This normie ass franchise should be banished to a separate board or something.

It's no use arguing with people who hate on the prequels, because they can't actually verbalize what they don't like about them or go into it with any degree of detail.

      It's unironically

They're badly written and directed, have badly aged effects and soulless action, made some bad casting decisions, have moronic toilet humor, have messy structure (especially Ep. I and III) and you should just grow up and let your toys go.

Not gonna spend as much energy as you spend defending this shit. These movies are far below average but some scenes or lines of dialogue are worse than others. It would make as much as sense wasting time explaining why action scenes in League of Extraordinary Gentlement didn't become classic only it doesn't have as many defenders blinded by devotion to the brand.

This is incredibly easy for me because it's just a matter of pointing out you're incompetent. This is very easy when you -admit to- having absolutely no idea what's going on, as if it's some point of pride or argument.
                >I'm moronic, so therefore the movie is bad, even though i'm admittedly moronic and have no idea how to express myself or interpret basic facts.

                >no u
                [...]
That's what happened mate. Or are the prequels suddenly deep and complex and thick with intrigue? Make your mind up. The emperor is evil therefore he made them do evil thing.

The plan was not to invade Naboo, the movie shows that the invasion plot was improvisation after the Jedi were sent in secret by the chancellor to threaten the Federation into backing down. It's actually a highly risky move for Palpatine and the Feds.

That still boils down to saying "it bad" but with more words. If you don't put in the work into having an opinion, it's worthless.

You have not said anything specific about the writing, the directing, the effects, the "action" (so like, editing, choreography, cinematography too), casting, the humour or the structure.

Because your moronic manchild fanboy, Lucas sycophant mind will tell you that the balcony scene in RotS was meant to be bad because frick you and start watching movies appropriate for your age.

They're boring emotionaless films with boring editing and bland cinematography. They struggle to tell basic stories and plot points like why the Naboo are being invaded or why an assassin is hiring another assassin are barely explained at best and still confusing when.you put the peices together. They take interesting ideas and hide them under bad faux Shakespearean dialogue and scenes of people walking in hallways. They're scifi movies shot like soap operas

There's a lot of good stuff in the prequels but nerds focus on the "lore" and "Canon" and miss it.

For example, in that scene where C3PO screams "die jedi dogs" is interesting because it tells us a lot about C3PO. B1s are not aggressive, so that's him talking.

Well crap like comparison between a frame from RotS and a renaissance painting is obvious shitposting that, intentionally or not, makes fun of the prequels by being just too ridiculous. I think there are people who geniunely like them. Maybe because they don't care about the quality as much and are too attached to the brand to let it go. Maybe they don't expect much from Star Wars but a lightsaber battle or two.

It's just Lucas's bad directing. Same thing with the end of Phantom Menace, he always tries to mix lile 3 different moods into a scene. The opening of Sith is like that with comedic R2D2 jokes mixed with decapitation

The problem for me was, even back in 2005, how they saved Dooku only to kill him right away and wasting Christopher Lee second time in a row. That was before I found out about the last minute rewrites. It made the first act messy as hell and Anakin turning to the dark side as well.
