>Reed died from a heart attack during a break from filming Gladiator in Valletta, Malta, on the afternoon of 2 May 1999. According to witnesses, he drank eight pints of German lager, a dozen shots of rum, half a bottle of whisky and a few shots of Hennessy cognac, in a drinking match against a group of sailors on shore leave from HMS Cumberland at a local pub. His bar bill totalled a little over Lm 270 (almost £450; about US$590) *--about 1,050 in 2022 bucks--*. After beating five much younger Royal Navy sailors at arm-wrestling, Reed suddenly collapsed, dying while en route to hospital in an ambulance. He was 61 years old.

Here's a hot take - both are bad. CBD is useful for some people as a painkiller and anti-anxiety medication, but that's it. Recreational users are fricking losers. It's always been associated with lazy, criminal hispanics and Black folk and White trash, and rightfully so.

Thanks Einstein but that's not the topic. The topic is keeping these two people alive. They very obviously wanted competitive recreational drug use and with weed they could've had it.

We should celebrate his life more than his death.
For all his faults, he still was a wonderful personality.
He bore with him a certain brutal strength and an equal measure of dignity and simple, unpretentious wisdom. In most public appearances he was the definition of a gentleman, strong but reserved. His friends and family seem to mostly confirm this picture of him. And he was a beast of an actor on top of all that. One of the greatest on-screen actors of Britian.

The Devils is worth watching for Reed alone. Such a good performance.

I didn't really like the The Devils but every scene with Reed is a masterpiece. The scenes with the nuns are just pornographic without even bringing that much of an impact; you see what's happening, but you can't really feel the horribleness of it.
      >The Gladiator
      obviously
      >Oliver!
A good adaptation and Reed is again the highlight.
      >Women In Love
The film which made him famous
      >Dante's Inferno (1967)
Hard to find, but it's worth it. You can see clips from it on You Tube.
      >The Four Musketeers (1975)
Not sure about that one. People seem to like it, I definitely liked Reed in it, but it's definitely a product of its time and I found it terribly dull for the most part. I haven't seen the sequels; those might be good.
      >The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988)
Reed plays a small part, but the film is great fun overall and his performance as Vulcan just adds to the enjoyment.

I also recommend you check out interviews with him, some people already have linked good ones.

in case anyone wants any context, all the references to the tax man in this clip, was because this was a time when the proper socialists were in power in the UK, and the tax rate on any earnings above 50 grand a year, was 83%.
Olly stayed in the UK, most other Brit actors fled to the US.
