Remember in the first couple season of Adventure Time, Bubblegum had a big crush on Finn. Then around season 4 or 5 they completely dropped it and never brought it up and pretended like it never happened?
Good times.

Didn’t the creator leave after the 2nd season?
I refuse to believe PB had a crush on Finn simply because he was 12 to 13 years old and she was an adult. In "Too Young" when she was biologically 13 again I do believe she wanted to be with Finn but had to drop it once she was back to normal.
I think Pen left around season 4.
Finn died a virgin. Kill yourself.
Rebecca Sugar shouldn't you be somewhere jerking off to Ed, Edd, Eddy porn or your Invader Zim fanfics?
Rebecca wanted Finn to score FP though
As if your stupid fire bitch OC donut steel was any good Sugar, none of the other writers liked her and I'm glad she got mostly written off out of the show after you left
Are all FinnxPB fags on the spectrum or just the ones that happen to post on Cinemaphile?
t. Sugar
Answer the question
Not really. Sugar's final episodes before moving on to SU were about sabotaging that relationship and cementing Bubbline above all else. Muto just kept with the same subversion Sugar started in AT.
>Sugar's last FP episode is her and Finn hanging out in a cave like an adventurous romantic couple
>Muto's first FP episode after Sugar left is her leaving Finn for doing something stupid
Yeah, no, blaming Sugar for anything you don't like makes you kind of a homosexual
>Sugar's final episodes before moving on to SU were about sabotaging that relationship and cementing Bubbline above all else. Muto just kept with the same subversion Sugar started in AT.
Her last episode that had to do with FP was Burning Low, Vault of Bones was Osborne and Xayaphone.
I just know the show started to take a nose dive during season 5, and looking back, it makes sense. Ward walked out in the middle of the season because working on the show was "driving him nuts" and Muto was given the reigns. It's never felt the same once Muto was calling the shots and Ward was just a "consultation" and occasional storyboard/writer.
No he didn't.
LSP took care of that.
That wasn't consensual and shouldn't count.
i feel like so many people on co are completely delusional about this, i rewatched the whole show recently and it's clear pretty early on that finn pb isn't gonna happen and marcie pb stuff is set up so early
you don't think he was hitting huntress' sappy ass?
>i feel like so many people on co are completely delusional
could've stopped there.
Bring back ss
No she didn't. She teased him for HIS crush. Big diff. There's a reason they contrived a way to make her younger for that one ep and abandoned it ever since.
Exactly.
he left around s4. that was around the time cn wanted to extend the series he said sure but left basically just getting royalties. An he left a bunch of hacks in charge who butchered the show and characters. They all hated fin and wanted him to be alone forever because fuck the hero. in fact i'd say pb getting so much hate is kind of their fault for forgetting to actually give her depth they just portrayed her as a pure sociopath later on.
>endless seething

>Bubbline is the best Adventure Time ship.
Pendleton Ward sold out we know, never use your dream idea for a public venture if you want it to follow a particular path.
Yeah basically the one thing that has come from creators being more online the last 15 years is really hearing and seeing the grisly details about how the combination of other writers touching the story and the arbitrary demands of different types of executives can really butcher an artists original story.
Even before I gave up on actually getting into the business I knew to make up something on the spot that I won't care how it gets gutted and leave any personally important stories for solo work.
I loved it when adventure time was actually a kid's show filled with fantastical, fun adventures with awesome worldbuilding. Then it just turned into an edgy, woke garbage dumpster. Making Princess bubblegum and marceline gay, turning finn into an angsty teenager, tone shifting from fun, and whacky to serious. Me and my family would always sit down and watch adventure time until one day one said "Holy shit, this episode is garbage," and we never watched it again. Thank goodness that never happened with regular show, at that point we just grew out of cable television.
I cant blame them for changing the show too much though. The audience grew up, and the ones who stayes were those gay lgbt leftist types. Kids couldnt get invested because they werent around when the show first came out so they didnt bother watching it. At some point it rarely aired because the grown ups only watch it on streaming services or on some shady site like kisscartoon. They knew their audience, and bet on merchandice to stay afloat, not ratings and commercials.
Its the fate for many shows unfortunately, like Steven universe for example. Sigh. Its all so tiresome.
Bro this I remember when Adventure Time first aired back in 2010. As a kid it was everything I wanted in a TV show, Adventure, fun, whimsy it was so much different from the likes of Spongebob and Fairy Oddparents. Imo the show was ruined because they tried too hard to make a "deep" story like Gravity Falls but not realizing that it had had a story planned unlike Adventure Time which coincidentally added story elements after Gravity Falls came out. I legit had a argument with one of my friends about Bubblegum and Marciline's relationship and saying it had no development and she said I should ASSUME character development from nonexistent episodes. These are the types of people that Adventure Time fostered and now it's forgotten and now everyone only talks about Regular Show.
Regular Show was always the superior 10's CN show, it didn't pretend to be something it wasn't like AT did up until the very last season where they go into space also it way FUNNIER than AT on rewatch
Every hero needs an evil princess gf.
Bubblegum and Finn wouldn't really work considering he's a child at the start and she's an adult. That would essentially be grooming.
It's weird that they incorporated that in the first place, that's basically Denji and Makima before CSM was a thing.
Besides, Pendleton intended Bubbline to be a thing as back as 2011 with What was missing.
Anyways, That being said I DO agree kids shows need to learn to be fun and nonsensical and not trying to be a melodrama. Like did Tree Trunks need a forced sad backstory.
I think it was fine for a few seasons, balancing the occasional drama with fun nonsensical adventures, but apparently they ditch that happy tone entirely in favor of appealing to weebs and 20 year olds. Not fun.
I haven't watched since 2013. I know lesbianing happens and I don't mind that but I get annoyed when kid's shows randomly switch to depressing after being all fun and goofy.
Either be like Avatar and commit to the seriousness at the start or don't.
will this nonsense ever end...
When Finn gets a happy ending in a future Max special/min-series
Naw they did our boy dirty
could have this relationship actually work? i think PB would just manipulate him and control him to be her personal little goon. I imagine Jake would eventually snap out of it and try to get Finn out of that relationship
That would've been fun to explore in all reality.
The idea of PB essentially going down a path that would lead to an unhealthy relationship.
The only person finally waking up out of it being Jake after realizing what was happening.
I can imagine this would be what causes Finn's sort of Bubblegum withdrawal rather than what we got in the actual show.
but after all of that what would follow?
Jake wouldn't trust PB after that and Finn would have mixed feelings
Is kinda hard to say what would PB be feeling... nothing? sadness? resentful? regret?
>could have this relationship actually work?
Yes when Finn reached PB maturity. They were a thing when both were about the same age.
so she could have just waited for Finn to get older and mature? cuz PB doesn't age and Finn ages normally, he would eventually catch up to her and grow even older than her
This is weirdly desperate.
> weirdly desperate
That describes Finn's relationship with Bubblegum as a whole.
Exactly.
They should have given Finn a cute slightly older boyfriend
Finn and marceline should have been a couple. They could have kept bubbline in the show as a thing that happened in the past. Then PB tries to make amends with marceline but is rejected and in a fit of despair she might throw herself at finn who would also reject her. Then she decides she doesn't care about relationships anymore and just goes full fuhrer.
>Good times.
?t=4
>AT thread spotted
Reminder that the Lich is a fucking shitter and a jobber who spent the entire series using other people's powers to do anything, yet the fandom massively overrates him because he has a few cool lines
But the fear of death is for babies and boys need to get over it.
Yeah
Thankfully better ships prevailed
Great show
Both Marceline and Bubblegum are bisexual, we have seen them date men and women, they are immortals. Stakes is about Marceline having an existential crisis because she is sick of being immortal.
It is also normal for a vampire to be a degenerate, both possibly fucked Finn later on but was not shown. I would not be surprised if PB had pity sex with Finn to help him get through Jake's passing.
>Stakes is about Marceline having an existential crisis because she is sick of being immortal.
Marceline is not immortal since she can be easily killed. And even after being cured she wouldn't lose her demonic longevity. Stakes was the worst miniseries that had retarded premise, terrible characterization, forced drama and awful cop out ending. It only existed to fuel bubbline shipping and destroy Marcy comepletely because new writers couldn't give two fucks about her already established personality traits and just wanted some new dull, bland, expressionless, cute, timid lesbo that's obsessed with her girlfriend. It also looked even cheaper than usual. Was so bad it made me drop AT for a few years.
nta, what was so bad about stakes I remember stakes being the last thing I saw of at where I was really paying attention.
also I will admit the whole she'd die was dumb because she's literally a demon
>what was so bad about stakes
Pretty much everything aside from fun antagonists and some Ice king moments. And the song was all right I guess.
to be fair that's all I remember lol. I remember it seeming pretty fun for the most part a bit weird all the vampiric abilities were spread between each vampire lord
Yeah the song was great. Rebecca really brought something to the show and it's a shame she wasn't in obsidian
Honestly most of the problems came after Rebecca Sugar made Steven Universe. The other writers saw that she got her own show off of the Marceline shit she wrote and wanted to do it too.
Bubbline ruined the series because it came alongside Bubblegum being made out to be a worse and worse person with no real resolution because the writers chickened out of PB as the final boss. PB being the last villain Finn fights would be kino on so many levels:
>the princess is now the villain just as the evil ice king became a friendly hero
>defeating PB represents Finn letting go of his childish immaturity and finally growing into a man
>chaotic freedom vs stagnant totalitarianism
>PB's desire for eternal and unending rule foils the Lich, embodying total destruction.
Yes BP should’ve been last boss. As time went on we found she’s worse than Ice King and Lich put together and Ice had an excuse because he had magic dementia and Lich was just evil incarnate but what’s Bubblegum’s excuse? Muh woman muh lesbian muh sentient gum must protect kingdom at all costs? Fuck off with that shit
Man, fuck you guys. PB character growth and happy ending is the real kino. PBfag for life.
what character growth? She's the exact fucking same, everybody else had to change to befit her.
>Bubblegum being made out to be a worse and worse person with no real resolution
Writers backed out of it, rediscovered lesbianism is her resolution
>PB being the last villain Finn fights would be kino on so many levels
That literally would be chainsaw man
Which is why manga will always be superior to Weatern comics and animation.
>character is obviously a sociopath
>hurr let’s just make her gay for diversity points
This just ruins gay representation when you make your characters with no redemption
shhh...
they'll never be straight
there's nothing you can do about ti
Great post. I don't have much of an opinion either way on Bubbline, but the PB-as-final-boss idea has really been growing on me
Bubblegum was set up early as a sociopath being able to manipulate and kill to get her way even in the first season. So yeah she was always playing Finn it’s just as the series continued she didn’t even bother hiding her contempt for Finn. And I say that not as a fan of the shipping her with Marceline either. Honestly PB never should’ve gotten a happy ending she should’ve been killed off horribly and that’s why AT sucked in the end.
Are the Adventure Time comics any good? Are they enjoyable on their own or do they keep the batshit insane stuff from the later series?
Can’t remember when I gave up on AT? Probably around Finn simping for Huntress? At that point Jake and Bubblegum and mostly everyone were awful and insufferable so I couldn’t watch anymore.
The biggest issue with bubbline is it basically erased the friendship either character had with Finn. After Bubblibe was pushed to the front bubblegum starts treating Finn horribly and I don't think marceline even speaks to him again.
Like they legit stop being friendly with each other as if the mask of just using Finn as an emotional crutch slips off when they find each other to lean on.
Finn made a huge mistake bringing them back together in What Was Missing.
Finn and Bubblegums relationship has been delved into the most in the entire series. They were shown immediately after jake and lady frolicking, and at the end Pb kisses him goodbye for the night. Finn has always been by Pb's side through thick and thin and vice versa. They have saved each other, liked each other, hurt each other, cared for each other, fought for each other. A great chunk of Finn's developmental phase has been spent with Pb and it's easy to say he imprinted on her like none other. Pb's always had Finn around to catch her no matter how many times she's donked up to the point that Finn is the first person who comes to her mind when she's in trouble. Finn is possessive over Pb and doesn't like the idea of her being with anyone but had to painfully accept and come to terms with it. Pb is extremely possessive of Finn and grew angry at him for leaving for the islands because she was scared of losing him forever. She even made him promise to her that no matter what, he would come back to HER. Both Finn and Pb wanted each other to choose them over and above any other, but at the end settled for someone else because it wasn't meant to be. Yet despite that, they're still side by side. Just like Shoko was with Pb, just like Finn, just like Finn's incarnation in "Beyond the Grotto" where he drank from the Pb pond, just like his butterfly self that net baby Pb when she was born, and will continue to be side by side in every reincarnation. It's their destiny to be with each other no matter what form, just not together. Finn is fated to be Pb's knight in every life and love her, and Pb is fated to be his princess in every life. They'll always be together but never one with each other. It's the saddest yet most deepest love there ever has been.
Can't we have just one adventure time thread that doesn't devolve into raging like bitches?
Then at least stick with your own advice and maybe stop raging like a bitch?
No, you will always bitch about shipping not being canon and (not) be happy
AT had a lot of good ships
but I like this one the best
Ship so natural it had to be artificially sunk by turning Marceline into irrelevant lesbian.
So PB only like Marcy because of her age?
PB the hag chaser.
Here's the official Cinemaphile shipping tier list

All I see is anger and disappointment from this fandom. I am glad I stopped watching after season 1
That's only if your experience is on Cinemaphile because they're all stuck in 2018. Everywhere else it's fine
