Agreed but the Lich should've been kept as the only serious part with lore buildup, and he should've been the final boss in a 30 minute episode or a two-parter
Fuck I actually forgot about the Lich King. What a great and actually frightening villain.
I thought a lot of the stuff they did with the Lich long after his initial appearance was cool. Him posthumously permakilling Billy and hijacking his body was some serious shit. I think they brought him back one too many times though. His monologue right before he gets turned into a baby reeks of late AT shit, overexplained loreshit nonsense, and also he gets turned into a baby.
I love the (probably unintended) symbolism of Billy's face when he's possessed by the Lich. One side is the world's greatest hero, the ultimate good, while the other side is absolute evil.

the season 1 sweet candy princess with a passion for science who likes to be silly sometimes and becomes a little unhinged under stress was a far cry from the "lesbian dictator josef mengele" we got at the end of the series
The problem was, back then everything was wacky and retarded. So PB had times where it was "woah so weird and creepy" bits of humor. Then when the writers decided to take everything seriously they turned it into an annoying female archetype with some ongoing personality traits stemming from what used to be mindless gags. She stopped being lighthearted and fun because it made no sense with their version of making her some cold and serious leader who dun take no ones shieeet durrr
I said it before here, holly jolly secrets was exactly as deep as AT should have ever gotten. It gave us a glimpse at a dark past, gave us some mysteries to ponder, and made us feel sympathy for an antagonist. but no, they had to keep going 'deeper', had to keep waterboarding us with 'lore'.
Taking that story and combining it into a big action-packed finale, maybe with the Lich King, and wrapping up the show there would make it a real classic for me. Instead of the closest thing to zombie Simpsons outside zombie Simpsons
"The duke" from season 1 started the whole benevolent dictator aspect. Problem is that the show at the end tried to redeem her by sanitaizing her, like many other characters.
>Hey look, it's that exact same thread, again!
You know, it's a little selfish to turn every AT thread into a place to lament as soon as you see one. I understand you liked the show, it went to shit for you, you're emotional about it. But it makes it very difficult to want to discuss/draw/storytime/meme/post scenes we like, when it's just people crying about the show all the time, don't you think?
No, I don't think so at all. You just shift the conversation that way if that's what you want to talk about. Or make a different thread. Stop being such a sensitive moron
>Shift the conversation a different way
Still just get responses from obsessed and mindbroken people. They'll twist anything into a rant about the show. It's pretty ironic you'll call me a sensitive moron actually >Make a different thread
Doesn't work, that's my point.
The Lich tempting/possessing Death was pretty fucking metal, I just wish that it happened in the actual show and not something that got shoved onto HBO Max.
The little montage of his various appearances makes me realise he just sort of disappeared after the dimension stuff seemed like set up. Like yeah doing the same thing over and over gets dull. But it is a shame he didn't come back for the finale. There was something there with glob and the Lich's knowledge which would've tied things together more.
Meanwhile what actually happens in every single AT thread without fail >I will only say negative things about this show and continue to do so thread after thread for years on end wehhh
>Come to AT thread thinking for once we might get a new discussion, talk about something different, or anything else really >No, sorry, it's the same discussion that happened last thread >And in the last thread before that one >And in the one before that one >And in the other one before that one >And before that one >And before that one >And before that o-
AT threads here are doomed and cursed.
Okay, piggybacking on the Lich thing I always found the primordial demons stuff (the monsters before time) to be pretty cool, I wonder if Hunson was one, although he doesn't seem as powerful as the Lich or Golb.
I love this guy, his comfy design, his chimera shapeshifter powers, and I wish he weren't wasted as a miniboss on AT. Imagine if he was an arc villain on Gravity Falls or Over the Garden Wall or something.
I miss the PB from the first seasons. Fuck whoever decided to make her into an evil dictator.
Making Adventure Time serious was a mistake. It should have been 3 seasons of fun adventure with a boy and his magic talking dog.
Agreed but the Lich should've been kept as the only serious part with lore buildup, and he should've been the final boss in a 30 minute episode or a two-parter

Damn right he was, before they overused him anyways.

Yeah, it was cool seeing him kill Billy and Prismo but Sweet Pea carved his record of being a jobber in stone.
>Him posthumously permakilling Billy and hijacking his body was some serious shit
Yeah it was! It was cool as hell.
I love the (probably unintended) symbolism of Billy's face when he's possessed by the Lich. One side is the world's greatest hero, the ultimate good, while the other side is absolute evil.
His speech in Gold Stars to King of Ooo is still cool. Probably the last cool thing the Lich did.
Nah i think him turning into a baby was a great ENDING for him. Killing death with life makes sense.
Everything after that was fucking dumb, especially when it basically means that when he dies he'll just go back to being the lich.

Everything wrong with adventure time in one post
Should have stopped after the Simon reveal. Great place to end things

Sanitizing? Surely it was the opposite
For a while, yes. But then she became a lesbo, show whitewashed her, and she said she was sorry.
Like, with your dick?

PB deserved better. The Lich deserved better. Fucking everyone did.
The Lich tempting/possessing Death was pretty fucking metal, I just wish that it happened in the actual show and not something that got shoved onto HBO Max.
What's this from? Distant Lands?

Talk about how cool the Lich is, then
Or hey, bring up some topic of debate that you'd like to see
Okay, piggybacking on the Lich thing I always found the primordial demons stuff (the monsters before time) to be pretty cool, I wonder if Hunson was one, although he doesn't seem as powerful as the Lich or Golb.
He could certainly be one, he states that he doesn't remember his own origins. Pic rel
Hunson sounds like he'd be a cool guy to hang out with if he didn't constantly want to eat your soul
Yeah, probs.
Nothing's changed about the show so why would anything change about the threads?
>all these zoomers who were not on /toon/ 2009-2013
You had to be there.
I love this guy, his comfy design, his chimera shapeshifter powers, and I wish he weren't wasted as a miniboss on AT. Imagine if he was an arc villain on Gravity Falls or Over the Garden Wall or something.

This man had fucking GAME and he was ride or die about it.
