>buy movie
>have to sit through ads and pointless unnecessary garbage to get to the movie
>pirate movie
>press play
homie just press the menu button on the remote lmao
dumbass homie
I see the minimalist sóyllenials have arrived
>i need ads in products i buy so i can consume more product!
the soirony
>le unskippable!!
how poor are you homosexuals that your remote didn't have these buttons
literally zero of my DVDs have anything "unskippable" on them.
>blocks your path
>morons don't remember
Qrd?
DVD players had built in DRM protection that prevented you from skipping ads unless you bought a cracked DVD player from China.
And nostalgia homosexuals will say the west has fallen because Netflix is rolling out ads.
I feel like I only ran into that a few times, though even if they didn’t let you slip the ads you could still fast forward through them
>thanks for actually buying our movie
>here’s some ads
distributors really be like that
I remember how some would just start on their own, and then others would loop the same 25 second audio until you went insane and woke up to turn off the TV.
Remember when they had video game style secret codes?
Remember when some movies had mini games hidden in the main menu?
DVDs and Blu-rays still have this.
Yes, but do you remember how they also did some time ago?
DVD extras were ALWAYS a crappy meme. Nothing of value was lost.
this, they were terrible text based games to justify being 20 or 30 dollars.
>actually having nostalgia for an inferior product
imagine how fat you have to be to have this saved on your computer lmao
I found it for this thread because I remember 10+ years ago people on Cinemaphile would complain about the very thing OP has nostalgia for.
>trailers for other movies
>good
I turned on some pokemon dvd at work (work with handicapped fellas) and there was a barbie commercial. Honestly very jarring.
Yeah they were trying to sell dvds. Now all the business models are different. They could probably do something to generate more money tho, something similar. They are leaving money on the table
Some of them had games. I remember there was a Lion King sequel DVD that was supposed to have mini games, but before one of them could start it displayed an "out of order" sign. Makes me think they never bothered making that game, or they had some sort of deadline and couldn't complete it.
Chamber of secrets dvd menu and first person chamber tour scared the shit out of me back then
Anon, you just revived a childhood memory. I couldn't ever get past that maze, it was always too much for me.
Who remembers falling asleep to DVDs and waking up scared shitless because the DVD reset and you keep hearing the same menu noises repeated in your dreams
I remember this one family guy DVD menu that was pure silence and a still shot of the griffin family on the couch occasionally interrupted by peter letting out a short laugh
I remember when you had to rewind movies. Pure soul. DVD was a mistake.
>OP talking about dvd menus and extra content
>morons seethe thinking he was talking about ads in modern streaming instead
Classic Cinemaphile moronism.
I think its just zoomers coping with the fact they grew up without any form of physical media and every medium had already peaked before they were born
All they have to look back on fondly is subway surfers and lets play channels
>MMMMMMARKIPLIERRRR HERE
honestly sometimes I'll get riled up by some moron on here and then I'll have a moment of clarity and realize there's a very high chance the person I'm getting mad at is literally an 80IQ fatass and I just close the thread
no one in the thread is talking about ads in modern streaming you underage b&
I just bought Lawrence of Arabia 4k Limited Edition for 60 bucks before the maket asking price doubles.
I actually stayed at an airbnb recently that had a dvd player and this very dvd. I just let the menu play like this for hours.
>The Shrekley Bunch
Watching my Simpsons DVDs and every episode having a commentary track just feels so decadent. Physical media can overflow with soul some times
