Remember when people said this was one of the best animated films of all time

Then just like every other capeshit, the discussion around it dried up a year or so after its release.

Come to think of it, I don't think any capeshit besides TDK, and to a lesser extent BvS and Watchmen inspires any sort of discussion years after its release.

It had some pretty visuals and some nice jokes but other than that it's just a generic capeshit with a boring lead. In fact, it feels even more kiddish than usual capeshit. Don't see how any grown men can find any value in it.

Did the children's cartoon go over your head? Peter acts as Miles' surrogate father throughout, embracing the role he was denied in his world. Miles' comes to understand the importance of mentorship sacrifice because of Peter and returns to his father with newfound appreciation.

            >Peter acts as Miles' surrogate father throughout,
Fatherhood isn't just teacher style mentorship. It's unfortunate they had fat parker act like a snarky teacher all the time towards Miles. His big moment of maturity doesn't come out of anything Fat Parker says or does but due to some Pep talk by Aunt May. I'm sure the writers room that thought this up would agree with you but that's not what happens on screen.

He has to work to support the family. It's a core sacrifice central to fatherhood, and not understood by children who lack perspective. Quite mundane, but important. Miles' spectacular experiences as spiderman grant him greater appreciation for the mundane. For example, prior to becoming a superhero he's given a form of the great power great responsibility speech, but with regard to his intelligence rather than anything fantastical. After he saves the universe he understands that he has to use even his simple "power" of intelligence for good.

Okay? Are we supposed to give this movie props for doing something as basic as not shitting up serious scenes with hip hop?

Absolutely not. The only thing memorable about that scene is the implied history between May and Doc Ock
doing what he's doing for love
Giving villains motivation is bare minimum. Do you know who else was motivated by love? Wanda, Bane, Sandman. That's nothing special.

Chopin's funeral march is great but doing something different for a funeral scene is good mark in my book.

He's acting as if he has a valid opinion about the movie but in actuallity he just cant say "black lives matter" without his head exploding. Everything he says is a bad-faith argument based around that.

Embarrassing post. Hip Hop/Rap is simply unfit for a funeral. You don't even need to be racist to realise that. Is it racist to say Tristan and Isolde wouldn't be good for dancing in a nightclub? "It's different, So I'll give it points" is a moronic argument.

His existence was never needed. He was created by Bendis because he's a hack who can't create anything original but wants royalties. Bendis is also obsessed with pushing blacks into legacy roles regardless of how well they're liked which is what he tried to do with Riri Williams as the new Iron Man and killing off Peter in ultimate Spider-Man and replacing him with Miles

Disagree. There are some films that resonate enough to garner continued discussion beyond 1 year. Since 2015(keeping it somewhat recent) these are the films that seem to be talked about a lot and are influential.

      1) BR2049

The Phantom Menace must be one of the best pictures ever made because we have daily threads about it twenty years later

We just had a thread about it yesterday. You're just triggered because there's black people in it. Literally rent free.

MILES ONLY HAS ONE KIND OF STORY
THE STORY WHERE HE IS VALIDATED AS A LEGITIMATE SPIDER-MAN

If that's the only story you can tell for him then obviously he's not Spider-Man.

I watched it. Like any other Marvel movie, boring and bland.
I just can't understand why people like Margel shit so much.
The Remi Spiderman movies, especially the first, were good, but except for that I don't think I have seen a decent Marvel movie, and I have seen too many of them.

I can't believe people on Cinemaphile stopped talking about a movie with a black lead. Unprecedented.
