So, just started rewatching GoT again. 1st season is beyond kino, but I do remember the show going to shits in the later seasons.
How far do you recommend watching before stopping?

stop when tywin dies
This. Tywin dying at the end of Season 4 is the canonical show end. Just make up your own headcanon for an ending after that. Its guaranteed to be better than the actual show.
damn... I don't remember him dying that early.
anyways
>1-3
some of the best television ever
>4-5
damn good tv
>6-7
wait... this isn't as good
>8
this is bad and those responsible (Martin and D&D) belong in jail
martin had basically 0 power after a certain point, they kept pushing him out and decided they knew how to tell his story better than he did
Pretty much this. Once season 5 hits, all the best and fun characters are dead, there's no drive or overall purpose to the stories anymore, and they just keep trying make shocking moments to recreate the magic. Every plotline is just meandering, taking their time, going in circles, breaking in-universe rules left and right now, and are generally headscratchers. Ramsay and Euron are not interesting or believable villains. Cersei is boring and it's not believable that she gets away with the bombing and becomes super queen. Dany's invasion is just a bumbling shitshow of stupidity that she should know better after her battles in Essos. Dorne should have just been scrapped really even though there were nice breasts.
Much appreciated, fren.

I did this recently. Season 1 and 2 were kino. Season 3 is when I started to fast forward shit, it's really frickin bad. Season 4 got better but I was still skipping certain scenes. Season 5 had some good parts but by that point there are too many knew characters that I dont care about. I lost complete interest 4 episodes in to season 6.
There really is a noticable downfall in the writing quality starting in season 3. By season 6 it's just shit, all the new characters are horrible and any of the original characters that are left are a shadow of what made them interesting in the first place.
Gilly is the worst character in the entire series.
Gilly is pretty bad but I cringe at every scene with Shae. The actress is terrible and they changed her into a completely unlikeable screeching shrew that I can't bring myself to believe Tyrion is in love with.
I would say to watch until the point where tyrion shoots tywin with a bow in the toilet, it's around that point that things start seriously going downhill. The show has good qualities all the way to the end but the execution gets exponentially worse every season after this point.
Season 4 is a fantastic ending. I'm in season 6 right now and if season 5 was bad this season is beyond worthless. I literally have to skip anything that isn't Jon at this point.
>So, just started rewatching GoT again
Cool keep making rewatch threads and I'll post in them. I just started S2 but it's all fresh in my mind.
Any good parts you liked
Umm... yeah. All the acting is as good as I remember, for the most part. I'm watching the 4K for the first time and I think they fixed the pilot somewhat. The greenscreen when Bran is running on top of the castle is a lot less cheap looking. I think they went back and fixed the score, too, which sounds less synth-y.
don't care didn't ask, radmure is the true king
Anon literally asked. Don't sully Radmure's rad persona with your shitty bantz.
i didn't ask though, kind of like how robb fricking start didn't ask me to not defend my people. it's all good though, bro, plenty of beer and fish for all of us itt
>i didn't ask though
If you want me to play along you're going to have to chill with the belligerence. Don't disrespect my posts if you want me to respect your invoking of Radmure.
I appreciate the feedback. I love Robert in the first season. That guy really made the show. And Ned. The story also felt so much larger and like a full world for tons of people going about their business. That aspect diminished in the later seasons
>I love Robert in the first season.
Yeah. All the actors are great, for the most part, but I forgot how good he was. Also, Joffrey.
I also forgot how much I hated Sam and how much of a self-insert for GRRM he is. He's basically a dickhead who deserved to get bullied from the very beginning. Good character, but kinda hate-able in a way. Shae isn't as annoying as I remember.
Drogo was decent too, and prime Dany. Viserys was such a whiny b***h.
Ian Glenn was pretty great when you realize that's not anything close to his natural voice. Dude must have been sucking on lozenges and drinking hot tea constantly.
Wow, didn't expect him to sound like that. He's also a real simp for emilia kek. It's cool that him and barristan were so into the story, their characters and equipment. Always good to see actors that enjoy it as much as the fans
>Uncle, please sit
Go findba chair somewhere
Just chiming in to say that the Winds of Winter episode at the end of season 6 is actually really good and is probably the last great episode of the series. Seasons 7 and 8 are irredeemable.
The show died when Stannis died
Simple as
I just started my rewatch too, though I do this every year since the show ended. I only ever end up watching the first 4 seasons since they have the highest kino level.
Stop at the last episode. It's the worst one. I can forgive season 7.5 and 8 being rushy but... damn you didn't even stick the landing.
Its not to bad when binged.
One of the best scenes in the entire show was Robert, Barristan and Jaime talking about the old days and their first kills.
Gods the writing was good then.
Boar wine, your grace?
>Cersei is a lying prostitute, she's fricking Lancel, Osmund Kettleblack, and Moonboy for all I know
The dip between 3 and 4 wasn't that bad. It was very slight. You can't hold not having a huge event like The Red Wedding against it.
The problem with season 4 was the fanfiction scenes in it. They had to drag out the last 25% of the book so I guess it's understandable, but they could have started some of the AFFC and ADWD plotlines instead.
Really most of the problems with the later seasons are due to the lack of source material which to be fair wasn't the showrunner's fault, although being shit fanfiction writers is.

You can stop after 4 but you'd miss out on some kino moments Here's my list.
>Season 1-4 - ALL
>Season 5 - 8, 9, and 10
Starting with Hardhome
>Season 6 - 3, 5, 9, and 10
Oathbreaker, Door, Battle of Bastards, The Winds of Winter
>Season 7- 4
Spoils of War
>Season 8 - none
all seasons are worth watching, there'll never be something as greatly crafted as GoT again. maybe House of The Dragon.
