Ironically in the late seasons only the serialized episodes are really good. I feel like they want to do mostly non-serial stuff because they're lazy

Bushworld Adventures was better than the rest of the show, Aussie humor slams whatever dumb incest jokes the show touts as comedy gold.

Ricks's origin story is completely fabricated. He removed his actual origin via the mind blower and inserted a fabricated one.

I haven't watched Rick and Morty since 2017 ...have I missed anything decent? what are the best episodes from Seasons 3-5?

    From worst to best

    >Season 3
Aside from the citadel episode which was perfection, this was the show at its worst. The over-the-top gore, the emmy-baiting monologues, the male-bashing present with the direction they took with Jerry, and being the season that kick started turning the whole family into Ricks.
    >Season 4
I don't even know what to say about it. While it comes off as a slightly toned-down version of 3, there's something about it that just seems unmemorable. Not to say it was complete shit as I found a lot of the episodes to be quite comfy but it is the "meh" to season 3's "bad".
    >Season 1
I'm going to get shit for this but I think it belongs right in the middle. It's a lot of fun but upon going back, I'm not really all that much of a fan of the cruder, less detailed art style and simpler story lines. Rick Potion #9 and the citadel episodes were really good teasers of things to come though.
    >Season 2
It's pretty much season 1 but better. The one-off silly adventures seemed more creative and somehow more fun to watch. Felt like the show really roughed out the kinks from 1 and now knew what it wanted to be.
    >Season 5
Yeah you heard that right Cinemaphile. The silly episodes like Mr. Nimbus, the decoys, and the turkey ones were just as fun for me as season 2's goofy one-offs while the more serious lore episodes were to me, of similar quality to season 3's tales of the citadel. I also found the gotron episode to be overhated and far from the worst the show has ever put out. I really think this season's shittiness has been overexaggerated, which I was guilty of taking part in at the time, as the sperm and the hellraiser are the worst it's been with the former being outright terrible while the latter is completely meh.

Was the hate justified or overblown?

      Completely justified.
It was bad from every angle.

      >sperm monsters
      >horse people Rick fricks
      >feminism plot with Summer and Beth played completely straight
      >ends with a giant incest baby
It definitely was a shit episode. Was the hate overblown? Maybe a bit, it wasn't the crime against humanity people thought it was. I think a lot of it had to do with fatigue. It's the 4th episode of the season, the first 3 weren't exactly amazing by the standards of the show. Then this piece of shit gets dropped on your plate, you feel like the writers have finally lost it, all hope of having the quality of the better seasons again is lost, now it's time to put the foot down. Because this isn't Rick and Morty, this is some nasty gross-out humor without having anything that's clever or has any depth at all.

      -Gross and unappealing plot.

-Everyone's out of character (i.e. Rick goes along with Morty's obvious nervous lying, the President is now a sexist apparently, and Morty is seen as a sweet and pure-hearted kid by the President).

-The obnoxious feminist plot is played completely straight with no jokes, just a writer inflicting their bitter "I AM SILLY" webcomic-style worldviews onto the audience.

-The main villain, the Sperm Queen, is an ugly and annoying YAS QUEEN b***h, a modern character archetype audiences find viscerally repulsive down to their core.

-The whole episode just having an awkward feel to it as things just happen randomly with the chuds being mentioned but now becoming a threat when both them and the sperm could have been more fleshed out with two of their own respective episodes (not that I want that but it would have been the lesser poison), then it turns out Rick has a one night stand with the princess (haha sex), now the chuds are allies, and then a bunch of random people show up in a war between sperm and chuds (LUL THIS IS GOING IN MY RICK AND MORTY WITH NO CONTEXT COMPILATION). The episode just feels like a juvenile, Family Guy-esque parody of a typical Rick and Morty episode.

the anime episode was good in retrospect because the ferret shit was ultimately an analogy for the citadel.
