I can't remember who said this but it was something like, 'if you can't explain something in simple terms then you don't understand it'. Ricky could never explain anything in simple terms to Karl when questioned. First he would deliberately explain concepts in as verbose a way as possible to make himself look smarter, but when Karl couldn't understand, Ricky would start to sputter and stammer and fail to simplify his explanations, sometimes literally saying 'oh I don't know, Karl!'.
