I liked the OG movie orc more, but these are also good.
Orcs and dwarfs are done really well in the show. Men are done terribly. Elfs are somewhere in between.
The show is hit and miss.

      >Men are done terribly
Its funny how its the easiest thing to do that requires only a little thought during the casting process and still they get it wrong

        Trips of truth.
All they had to do, was to hire attractive people and make them competent.
Instead we get city of racist mixed people, who are all ugly and have no charisma.
        >We are doomed because we are ... LE RACIST
        Amazing, Bezos, amazing.

The elves are done fricking terribly, too. Ugliest people possible, the short hair makes them look not at all ethereal like they should, the guy with the fade looks ridiculous. Also they should all have fair skin.

Bearded female dwarfs would looks weird as frick. From all the things that are wrong with this show, this bothers me the least.

          >Bearded female dwarfs would looks weird as frick.
As they should. That's what makes them interesting and a visually distinct species from humans and hobbits.
But instead of a transportive portrayal of a different world, the showrunners instead wanted to "reflect the real world."

No, I don't think I want to see bearded women.
Trannies irl are ugly b***hes enought.

    Ah huh

That's not entirely inaccurate the orcs do seem to hate and fear the sun. In the book the Uruk-hai's ability to withstand the sun sets them apart from the goblins of the Misty Mountains

        >In the book the Uruk-hai's ability to withstand the sun sets them apart from the goblins of the Misty Mountains
Because of training not because they're vampires who burn up in the sunlight.

          >Because of training not because they're vampires who burn up in the sunlight.
Saruman explicitly interbred them with other races to produce orcs immune to sunlight. Mordor orcs are only able to leave en masse and attack Gondor because Sauron darkened the skies for them.

Why do these actors go back to short hair when they find out women cream their panties for long haired chads.

      Anonymous

because IRL long hair is extremely annoying to maintain and if you're an actor it's always going to be a wig anyway.

Realistically it’s because almost all male roles call for short hair unless you’re doing something historical, in which case they’ll probably just put you in a wig.

I love how they spraypainted them all white. Very progressive.

Lefties complained that orcs were black people, so to avoid criticism they made them ash white instead.
In the Amazonverse, all the created races have blacks in them, except for the one expressly evil race.
Are your expectation subverted yet, Chud?

I thought for sure that one Elf with the big eyes would be turned into a goblin because he already looked like a goblin but instead they sent him to Valinar.

That's way creepier than movie/show depictions because of the weird proportions. I forget, what is the distinction between goblins and orcs in Tolkien lore? Been a million years since I read the books but wasnt it goblins in the hobbit and then suddenly orcs in lotr?

          Anonymous

Goblins and orcs are the differernt words for the same creature. Tolkien stopped using goblin after the Hobbit because of it's French roots apparently.

There is none. In The Hobbit, "orc" is used a couple of times and is implied to refer to particularly large goblins, but in most other places, orc applies to the whole species and goblin is used interchangeably with it on occasion.
