About on par with The Shadow. It’s a bit cheesy, but fun jungle-Kino. Basic adventure formula really does well with it. Billy Zane and a Treat Williams make it a fun ride.
>On June 12, 2023, Williams was involved in a motorcycle crash on Vermont Route 30, near Dorset. >According to the Vermont State Police, a 2008 Honda Element in the southbound lane turned into the path of Williams' motorcycle in the northbound lane, and Williams was unable to avoid colliding with it.
Fuck. F. Such an unfortunate way to die. At least he had a long and memorable career.
Damn. The very first movie I remember seeing on him was Dead Heat with Joe Piscipo, but he's done plenty of good stuff. Hair. Sweet Talk. Deep Rising. He should have had a bigger career. RIP.
Williams visited England's Elstree Studios during the 1979 filming of The Empire Strikes Back[17] and was photographed in-costume on the Echo Base set with actress Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia Organa.[18] However, the film's external Hoth scenes,[19] which include the Allashane character production photo,[1] were shot in Finse, Norway,[19] concluding on March 11, 1979.[20] Moreover, the extras hired to portray Rebel soldiers during the Battle of Hoth were local Norwegians, including several dozen mountain-rescue skiers.[21] Filming at Elstree Studios did not begin until March 13, once the Norway shots were completed.
"Well, Treat Williams decided he was going to come and hang out on the set, which he did, and he appeared in those ice planet scenes as one of the lieutenants or officers in the Rebel Forces. And I'm sure that there is no credit for him at all and he didn't have a character or anything, but he just said, 'Hey, this looks like a lotta fun and I'd kinda like to be a part of it, mind if I take a role of an extra?' Everybody said, 'Yeah!' So here you have this Hollywood star who just decided, for probably no salary, just to hang out for a few scenes and was quite happy with the role of an extra in Empire Strikes Back. And that was kinda the way it was."
According to actor John Morton (Dak Ralter), Williams, who was in London at the time, decided that it would be fun to appear in the film as an extra, and did so with the blessing of the film's production staff.[3] Donning the tan fatigues of a Rebel soldier,[4] Williams appears in the film at some point during the interior Echo Base scenes on Hoth, according to Morton.[3] During his stay on the set, Williams befriended actor Harrison Ford (Han Solo)[4] and posed for photographs with Fisher.[6] Williams was uncredited for his role in the film
I recommend watching Deep Rising for some Treat-kino.
It's pure late-90s cheesy adventure/horror fun, kindof like The Mummy which was directed by the same guy.
I live here in Vermont, my parents were close friends with Treat and I knew him my whole life (I'm 20)
Three days ago my parents and I had a dinner party with him and his wife. He just bought a new plane, he was super excited about it.
It's alright.
I feel terrible for his wife and kids.
I mean, with something like this, there's no adjustment. It's not getting sick and getting worse over a period of time, it's not sticking around until it's a question on when.
It's just you wake up, fine and happy - then bam.
What a mess.
>It's alright. >I feel terrible for his wife and kids.
Thank you. And yeah, words can't begin to cover it.
>I mean, with something like this, there's no adjustment. >It's just you wake up, fine and happy - then bam. >What a mess.
Not to be crass or insensitive, but life has a habit of doing that, it's part of why it's hard for me to relax because I'm on guard. I hope their faith (if they have any) guides them through, or whatever. Rest in Peace, Treat.

It's true, it's the nature of life. We think that, since we perceive life as a story as something massively important, that its loss must be grand and led up to.
But life, in a material sense, is just the biproduct of all our biological systems functioning. And so it can be lost at any moment.
I don't know if he pissed off the wrong people, was a primadonna or just made bad movie decisions but he could have had a much more successfully career. He was great in this.
Not only is Treat Williams in the background (where, who knows), and Cliff of Cheers barking orders, but when the Rebel commander is saying "Groups 7 and 10 will stay behind to fly the Speeders. As soon as each transport is loaded, Evacuation Control will give clearance for immediate launch", the elderly Rebel walking behind him from Right to Left is none other than Ralph McQuarrie.
>and Cliff of Cheers barking orders,
At least John can be easily found, I think he's even in the credits. He friggen talks directly to Leia, but it's not John's voice. (duh)
>As soon as each transport is loaded, Evacuation Control will give clearance for immediate launch", the elderly Rebel walking behind him from Right to Left is none other than Ralph McQuarrie.
No shit? Dang. I never heard that one before, not that i doubt you, it's just amazing that this not new at all film still has interesting tidbits.
You just know
wtf I never knew this
>wtf I never knew this
0_o this anon is speaking to us from beyond time and space...
Can someone definitively spot him in the film itself, please?
I am rewatching now!
Good luck, hope you have an original 4K scan with good black levels on a professional CRT or a damn good QLED.
putlocker on a 16 inch dell
haha good ruck.
Just watched the battle sequence, he doesn't seem to be there unless one of the troops in the background
The only two guys I saw that seemed like him were already disproven. Seems like he didn't have a face showing role
Hmmmm well. I'll be renting a theater this summer so maybe I can spot him on big screen.
Not many Echo base veterans left.
Rip Xander drax
>X-a-n-d-e-r D-r-a-x
>Xander Drax, it begins and ends with the letter X
I always enjoyed The Phantom
Never seen it, what I am missing? Is it as good as The Shadow?

Sounds like a must-see. I like Billy Zane too. Thanks, anon.

>Visits the set of Star Wars
>Fucks Carrie Fisher
>Refuses to elaborate, leaves
After doing some research Treat was "pals" with Carrie before this and she invited him to the set
Hoth Base is a supermarket now. Tescos if I remember right.
Millennium Falcon spot is now a DVD/Bluray section
>Hoth Base is a supermarket now.
GTFO here. It was filmed on a glacier. There's no damn supermarket there.

I've seen it and sorry but it's a bad movie. Probably a good laugh if you're drunk though.

But he never got a chance to fly it
Nice larp. He lived in Maine.
What the fuck are you talking about?
I don't even think he owned property in Maine.
I'm sorry, I got another tragic accident mixed up with Treat Williams, I apologize. I mean no disrespect to he or you.
It's alright.
I feel terrible for his wife and kids.

*no wait, I'm wrong, you're right.
But anyway, it really sucks he's gone and in such a fashion.
/misc/ vs Treat
kino
But politicians *are* making a race war. They let blacks do anything now and then blame whites. That can't keep up forever.
That dude made some fun movies. Deep Rising and The Phantom were some of my favorites when I was younger
F
At least he got to fuck prime Carrie
Why did Luke make him shoot the harpoon even though it was malfunctioning?
Sometimes ya got roll a hard 6
Luke told him while shaking his head:
>Just hold on!
which is OT SW for: Fine. Fuck it.
I don't know if he pissed off the wrong people, was a primadonna or just made bad movie decisions but he could have had a much more successfully career. He was great in this.
