Well, the douchebag who fumbled this crowdfunding campaign (which he insisted WASN'T a crowdfunder... until he wanted more money) charged $50 for a 96-page comic, did all the crowdfunding on his own site (so we only have his word that he raised more than twice what Keanu fricking Reeves raised for BRZRKR), fricked up with Paypal, spent more time shilling his crappy lenticular holograms and getting into Twitter b***hfests at anyone who dared ask reasonable questions then getting the book printed and shipped (something he INSISTED would happen in August) so... yeah, kinda?
Granted, all casualgate books are scams, but this one fricked up so hard that people doubted the book was even real. That takes an extra level of stupid.
He didn't didn't know the logistics of printing and shipping a comic. The lead paint in some houses caused some people to think this comic would come out in a week when he was over his head in getting it out soon. The huge time between posting updates on the comic being shipped and whatever bullshit videos he made. Created this Layer of salt, meme, and, shit posting.
>which was something he should have done in the first place.
Tbf, I would not have expected to ship over 30k more than my original stated goal either. Shipping/selling your original goal in a short period is an absolute success but I have no idea what you call shipping 4 times it( and merch) is.
First come first serve is a basic business model that benefit the consumer and seller. The seller warehouse won't be overfilled with products he may not sell in the future and the consumer get their product as soon as possible.
Imagine If I want to buy the new Mario game and Nintendo didn't give me my game because some guy bought the game 2 weeks after me.
There was a great disturbance among the haters, as if they suddenly realized how stupid their old talking point was and they now have to desperately move to a new narrative
Well, the main consensus between us non-shills was that it got more and more suspicious that Eric gave out such little information on something he was meant to be promoting, plus that stock photo with the piss filter that was meant to be the warehouse he was using, not to mention the incessant delays for the dumbest reason. A crowdfunding campaign needs to have as much transparency as possible (Eric kept saying he was using this model BECAUSE he wanted to keep things as open as possible) and all Eric did was give excuse after excuse.
We said that even if the book DID exist (which, for the above reasons, looked pretty doubtful) then it was still going to be shit. Specifically, shit that wouldn't trouble Marvel or DC (why does every casualgate book pretend it's going to make any impact on the industry, much less put its two biggest players out of business?) and wouldn't you know who won the pony?
Of course, you'll never acknowledge any of this, because you're a literal schizo who needs to glom onto any butthole who fricks up a crowdfunder that promises the earth.
Shut up you insane Homestuck fan angry at a black creator for cleaning up Homestuck's mess by simply making good things while black. Homestuck was a racist attack on black people in the medium of comics.

Why does this matter to you? Nike charges $200 for shoes that cost $1 to make. Do you think they're just selling shoes?
The majority of people who are supporting this are obviously doing it for bigger reasons than buying a comic. It's also a niche audience. You don't compete on price for specialty products. He could have offered this for $5, and that wouldn't have increased the number of backers significantly enough to offset the lower price.
Forget Eric July and the political angle of this for a moment. This is what niche audiences of all stripes should do. If you want something that doesn't have mass appeal and is made specifically for you, you should be willing to pay a premium. Anime blurays in Japan sell for over $100 for 3 episodes, and they get by because 10,000 fans will buy it. Meanwhile American cartoon shows that get 2 million viewers and Marvel comics that sell 20,000 copies get cancelled because they lose money.
Stop whining about other people's hustle. Stop trying to poke holes in it so you can own the magahats on twitter. Anyone can take lessons from this and apply it to their own progressive, inclusive, diverse comic about a trans unicorn. Worry about your own hustle.

Right, and I'm claiming he's doing the same thing. He's not charging $35 because it's self-published or oversized... he's charging $35 because he can get away with it.
I'm well aware that he's just hustling. Doesn't make it not overpriced.

Nike is an established brand with a track record that makes people want them, not a track record of good shoes, just the idea of shoes.
Eric doesn't even have that. But it does seem like he might have used cheap overseas labor all the same.

It's not like the dude is folding the comics by hand. There are no other self-published comics at this scale charging $35+ for a 96 page paperback.
Most crowdfunded comics don't charge the earth for one issue - they tend to actually budget before they do anything, and plan things out.

Yes, that was pretty much Eric's go-to response any time someone asked him why the book was so heavily delayed. That was because not only does Eric's whole personality revolved around being a whiny c**t, but he's a whiny c**t who didn't plan ahead. Promising that everything would be ready to print and ship in July was a rookie mistake, because there could've been all manner of production issues. Those issues happened - some of them directly because of Eric's insistence on giving everyone their copy at the same time, which gave us non-shills a good laugh because who the frick does that?
If Eric has planned ahead and gave the initial shipping date as "August 2022" that would've given him more time to get shit ready (something he CLEARLY needed to do) and engaged with backers on a more positive note, e.g. showing behind-the-scenes production stuff, instead of being a whiny c**t and shilling his crappy oversized trading cards. But he didn't, because being a whiny c**t is all he knows.
I don't feel like giving some z-list clout chasers some views just to hear them ramble for 10 minutes and then say some generic shit at the end. Page dump or bust.
Finally, more content beyond book covers. It looks fine. Nothing spectacular but it works. I like the coloring especially.
Was this too much to ask from the stubborn morons that bought this?
[...]
agree with the other anon--if nothing else, the coloring looks nice. I just hope we get better scans soon so we can judge the writing and linework with better accuracy.
The only review that had detail said that he learned nothing about the characters and isom unique powers was never shown. Overall the art is okay, but the lack of background during action is kinda lazy.
>said that he learned nothing about the characters and isom unique powers was never shown
Holy shit, are you serious?
I want the scans right now
I mean if this was their best foot forward, then whether a storytime drops or not, I'm satisfied now. Won't buy it myself, won't stop anyone from supporting this.
I'll only be sad if nobody seriously posts scans after a long time because that's how you'll know nobody really cares.

You seem to have missed that DC's coloring has somehow gotten worse in the last couple years. It's so saturated it makes me want to barf.
That's another thing about this. Even aside from the obvious grift, literally EVERYTHING about this, the story, the art, the character design, is so fricking generic that I'm surprised that people are unironically excited for this.

Hell if anything, it being a new IP without any connections to established superhero universes would give the creator MORE incentive to do something unique and cool with it, since not only are you not bogged down by decades' worth of continuity, but you have to make your shit stand out somehow.

No one knows, even the people who read the comic struggle to define the protagonist, with even his hardcore fans being critical of everything ranging from the writing, grammar, pacing, and shitty art. tell this day don't know why he didn't deliver the books, posters and hats he have in the warehouse. He would have had more space in his small warehouse and worry less about organizing and management.
I'm not saying that Eric hasn't fricked up or made his shit look bad, BUT the reasons why people thought it was a scam or griff was stupid ESPECIALLY when he did put out shit and it wasn't to people's liking. It's one thing to believe but not be totally sold on the idea, it's another to outwardly deny anything about it
So we can now confirm that of this 96 page book, 1 page is a full portrait of Eric, one is an ad for his wife's cosmetic company, and one is the boiler plate mission statement from his website. So we're already down to 93 pages before full spreads are taken into account.
Boy I sure do feel owned. I'm absolutely shaking right now.
You wiener knoblers are so easy to rile up, your obsession is the one being poked at. Your suffering makes insult you and Eric hilarious.
Your stupid hero even pretends calling you homosexuals for sucking his dick is harassment.
Yes, both companies will go sale next week for extremely cheap but nobody will by them so everyone will sudoku out of shame and then get cancelled for cultural appropriation.
It's the back of the book, moron, inside back cover is usually blank.
Why is Cinemaphile even talking about this shit though, it's a mediocre comic book that lures morons in with some nignog's anti-woke grift. Might as well talk about trash like my hero magademia.
>Why is Cinemaphile even talking about this shit though
The youtube shills genuinely thought they were going to generate excitement for it by constantly posting about it, and when people started making fun of it and the creator, they got mad and thought posting "WELL IT TECHNICALLY EXISTS!" 900 times.
A lot of post-Gamergate people who come across Cinemaphile sincerely believe the site is a de facto support base for all of their homosexualy pet projects, so when the generally consensus isn't supportive, they get confused and pissed off and wonder "what happened?!"
>Cinemaphile b***hes about modern comics and politics >creator shows up and starts a kickfundmegogostarter for a comic series that doesn't involve the lame shit of modern comics >Cinemaphile is happy >goal is met >Cinemaphile is happy >shipments are late >"HOLY FRICK THIS IS A SCAM!" >pictures of the warehouse where the comics are waiting to be shipped with Eric in front of said comics are shown >"LE FAKE LOOK AT HIS SHADOW!" >people on youtube reviewing and showing their physical copies of the book >"THEY DIDN'T SHOW US EVERY SINGLE PAGE! >>"LE FAKE LOOK AT HIS SHADOW!"
Also the fact that his "warehouse photo" was a stock image with a piss filter >>Some anon posts his copy >Some anon
Try harder, Eric.
Bitch, all us non-shills pointed out that this was yet another casualgate nothingburger, and even previous casualgate nothingburgers had some fricking transparency to them - the only time Cinemaphile has ever said "the book's not coming out" for one of these turds was for Alt*Hero, and that was because Vox Day The Living Potato insisted that one kickstarter was going to lead to some multi-media empire with its own licenced RPG and all kinds of shit. And guess what? None of that shit got made, except for a couple of crappy comics with art so garbage that he ended up using POSER!
Eric's no different - he kept insisting that this one comic would become its own universe, and it would kill two of the biggest IP farms on the goddamn planet to be owned by massive corporations because some fauxtrage YouTube grifter said so. These comics will come and go, and leave no impact other than MAYBE getting storytimed during a Storytime of Pain weekend one year, and that's if anyone bothers to scan this vanity project and upload it somewhere.
>Cinemaphile hates ~~*woke*~~ >assume just shitting out anything and proclaiming "BUT IT ISN'T WOKE!" is enough to get them to hand over money >it isn't >"g-guys what the frick we'll never win The Culture War like this..."
It's almost like just "not being woke" doesn't mean it's also not shit
>assume just shitting out anything and proclaiming "BUT IT ISN'T WOKE!" is enough to get them to hand over money
Cinemaphile doesn't have any money and july definitely doesn't fricking need Cinemaphile's money.
>july definitely doesn't fricking need Cinemaphile's money
July is literally screaming and crying that his YouTube friends are racist by not giving him free plugs. July needs a lot more than he'll readily admit to.
How many on Cinemaphile do you think genuinely gave him money? The only paypigs here are outsider shills that only come here because Reddit banned them.

Reddit has a warped view of what makes one a homosexual, certain abuse is perfectly ok depending on your status as a protected class. Children are not considered a protected class by these people.
>This comic book company was not created at random.
Wow! See, most are, that's the thing. One day you're walking along, minding your business, suddenly you turn a corner and -bloop- you created a freakin' comic book company lol. Just crazy how that happens. But it's cool this isn't like that.
You won't the whole thing was a scam to get incels to spend their money on a trash comic because they were angry that the big comic publishers aren't catering solely to them anymore and chose to create comics for everyone.
You know a lot of these pages seem to be incredibly light on dialogue. Is July's writing literally just "and then Isom punched the guys" over and over?
1. This art is wonky as hell. He looks fat on the first page and what the hell is with that hand.
2. Looks like a MK11 Xray. Either it's to show the type of damage or maybe a hint of his power being more than hit hard, but I doubt it.
3. I know the guy at the top of first page is supposed to be doing the usual villian observes protag bit, but I can't take that expression combined with that fivehead seriously.
I get the same impression I get from the art in that current issue of Spiderman when Gwen and Peter interact, they published something looking this bad out of desperation and deadlines, not because they thought it was the best they can offer.
It's just really funny how bland these money shots are. This is the big spread, the coolest moment of the book aaaand it's a guy in a Target uniform pointing at some other guy, drawn in the style of a DC Comics fill-in artist.
It's phrased stupidly, but he's actually not wrong. Retcon doesn't mean contradiction, it just means "retroactive continuity."
A character like Ahsoka is a retcon - they revealed that Anakin had a padawan all this time that we never knew about. It didn't technically overwrite any canon, but it's still a retcon.
Now... I'm not sure why exactly he felt the need to specifically mention that. Because literally no one gets mad about going back and adding new information.
Suppose it's established that Isom has a BBC. Now, suppose a future issue shows Isom's aforementioned BBC, but it's actually a LBC and everyone within the story pretends this is the case. That's the sort of scenario Eric hopes to avoid. Now, suppose Isom's BBC is still a bonafide BBC, but we later learn BBCs in the Rippaverse have to be significantly larger still to qualify as such. Thus making Isom's BBC an LBC, despite it remaining the same size. It's still a BBC to us. New information was presented that then re-contextualized older information without making the older information invalid.
So that's only six percent filler. I was expecting ten.
>Another thank you page >"Yaira will return"
Okay we're up to 8+ pages of filler. I can't imagine whatever is on the back of Yaira is significant either. I'm guessing we'll see that 10% number with no problem.
List of known pages: >cover page >back over cover page (looks like text) >thanks to supporters >rippaverse ethic >jewelry ad >eric july self-spread
We already know of at least 6 pages that are not ISOM content.
Wait, I was going to say that thanking the backers is standard practice for any crowdfunded project... but it doesn't even look like he's listed them in the book. That's some crowdfunding 101 shit, and he couldn't even be bothered to do that?
For the record, I don't have a problem with most of the text pages we've seen so far (except the ad). But for all the talks of how big it is, it's turning out to not be as much content as we thought.
Just got Hickman's 3W3M book and he thanks patrons on the final page using a Krakoan-like language cypher, kinda cool. But yeah, standard practice. I guess Eric decided a dashed off 'thanks to everyone,' before using the rest of the page to push the cards was thanks enough.
Also that book is fricking beautiful. The design is impeccable, and you can tell a shit ton of thought went into putting it together.
Not to mention that the art and story are a WAY higher caliber than ISOM.
That said, my 3W3M sub has been pretty expensive, but the quality is way higher.
I wasn't aware of it til now so I just looked it up. Website is a great example of how you introduce people to a new project and I'm liking what I see so far.
>Also that book is fricking beautiful. The design is impeccable, and you can tell a shit ton of thought went into putting it together.
Yeah, I was extremely impressed. The printing/colors, design, textures. I admit I fell behind on reading the website the past few months, but i'm going to dig into this and get back into it. Glad to have such a nice physical object such as that to show for it though, as it'll always have a place on the ol' bookshelf.
1. It wasn't crowdfunded it was a preorder for an allegedly existing product
2. Yes, that's the entire way the magazine industry functions, you get people who want to put ads in your comic and they give you money, subsidizing the price. Magazines are often free because of it.
3. This shows Eric has no business contacts or acumen whatsoever
The douche had stretch goals and multiple tiers for donations, that's pretty much the definition of a crowdfunder
>>his lack of transparency and other easily avoidable problems lead people to believe there was no comic and it was just a scam
Mega disagree. People just want to believe what they want to believe. I don't know why a lot of people on Cinemaphile can act normal for some topics and act like an unironic dumbass in other ones. There's literally someone who's complaining about an ad in the middle of the book. >Wait for the story time thread for maximum shitpost
I'll bet you that people are going to spam /misc/ shit and get it pruned.
>so what if there's been no transparency, no oversight and no quality control? I want to pretend this shitshow has been worth it, because I need to feel superior to everyone who hasn't fallen for an obvious grift!
No, he presented it as crowdfunding to trick suckers like you. It was so not crowdfunding he had to make his own bullshit site to cover it up. And he didn't have stretch goals, just promises of something in another book.
iirc, it's an ad for his wife's business. It's nice to do that for your spouse but seriously amongst a bunch of comic readers, doubt any them are into a value brand avon
Yeah, I can't see much crossover between the SQW whales who stumped up stupid amounts for this shitshow, and the kind of "LIVE LAUGH LOVE" basic b***hes who'll buy this generic af shit
thats not bad in all honesty because alot of old comics did that
but its still HIS fricking adverts in a comic that costs more than a replica key from locke and key
Except this is a 96 page, "premium" comic. I have never seen a book like that with ads in it.
And it's not like he needed the ad revenue to fund the book. It's free ads for himself and his wife.
He literally made the book worse on purpose for no reason.
You said old comics did that. But they didn’t. TPBs have never had ads.

Prove it. I’m not talking about single issues, but trades.

Exactly - at the back. These are in the middle of the book.

It’s square bound and 96 pages. It’s exactly the same as a standard marvel or dc trade.

i know for a fact theres random adverts for Gamecube gamesin the middle

Lol, never read any books from the 2000s and below then
Unless you're either forgetting that comic books since the gold age has ads littered through out the book, you're just exposing yourself as a fool here anon.
>Its a trade paperback moron
Absolutely means nothing, it's his comic with his own ads about said comic book universe. You're trying to hard to complain about a mid
book >he couldn't manage single issues because his writing is bad.
Yeah, cause it'd be stupid to try and justify a $30+ book that only has around 30 pages. Again, you're spending your time complaining about a mid book.
Wow almost like shorter books like his don't cost that much, and a actual 1 issue would be even cheaper if they put ads in it lol
Ads lower price, they don't supplement page count like Eric has.

Are you talking about the price of the book, or about the ads. It's Eric book, he could charge however much, if people think its worth it, good for them. As for the ads, again why need to lie. I mean its normal for comics to have ads about all kinds of shit in them to begin with

It is a brand new indie trade not a random floppy of Swamp Thing. I have legitimately never seen an ad in one of those outside of the last few pages after the story wraps.
This isn't a trade, just a very long #1. Also, I genuinely don't see your problem. I mean, are you surprised at the idea that an indie company is putting ads for its own comic in the middle of the book? What difference does it make? Are you going to argue that it ruins the story, or you're no longer immersed?

No they aren't its a israeliteelry ad and shit for his band and other trash and its to lie about hte page count
>its to lie about hte page count
Why would he need or even want to lie about it? Unironically tell what's unique about Eric's book besides the price for a 96-paged book? Does his book ads in it? Yeah. Are all of them Rippa? No, but is this something that's unique to this man's shit?

Unironically stupid. No, just because I disagree or oppose something doesn't mean I'm for Eric or have any stake in this comic anon. Like most people I'm waiting for rips, but if he is doing this to get rich quick (which I doubt highly b/c this is too much shit to do in the long run), okay then? Ads in a comic isn’t anything new, though the delay fr number one is whatever, the real tell for this shit is how much time will there be between number one and two
Been out of the shill threads for a few weeks. Now that the book is finally out what's the GRD on his powers even are and what's up with his standard supersuit having no hidden identity, is it a luke cage/john stewart situation?
>96 pages of "content" being the intro issue >no costume and no superpowers despite advertising his "unique powers"
This is truly like those netflix Marvel shows that are on a budget but at least they actual have the costume revealed in the finale and the powers are used sparingly
I feel like giving BB a pass because transformation like powers are costly in live action but at the very least they showed him use his powers turning into a tiger in his debut...and everyone has reference to know what BB can do.
Isom would be like if spiderman's first 10 issues were about Peter just getting the shit kicked out of him then ending on him going on a field trip to oscorp. The pacing is atrocious
It would actually be more entertaining if he commits to the bit and Isom only ever uses his powers off-screen. Every time someone comments on it they get interrupted by something.
Reminds me of those korean webcomics where all the artist's effort went into the cover, while the actual content looks half assed. The MC is so poorly detailed that he looks kinda fat in most pages compared to his superhero physique on the cover
What is the actual story of this supposed to be? My impression is that this is just color-swapped Invincible. What's the big hook that's supposed to draw me in? That it's a new hero universe that isn't from the big 2? There's a new one of those every week! At least the Black Hammer and Radiant Black 'verses get regular issues. Seems like a dogwhistle to get more mileage out of b***hing about gay Superman series and cherry picked panels from 2016 Marvel Now.
Why is Cinemaphilemblr the only board that purposely shills for every little thing? >shills for webcomics >Shills for Twitter heads >shills for political autists >shills for alt comics that always fizzle out
It's fricking nuts and they do it for free
I'm convinced it's the work of a touristgay that's just a fan/actual paid shill. Once they get the autist ball rolling, it doesnt take much for the board's regular autist/contrarians to join the free shilling. It's a valid strategy, if it werent for them I wouldnt even know about this shit comic
>padding things out with full-page splash panels of shit that only needs to be establishing shots
jfc, at least fill all that empty space by the car with some infodump dialogue
he doesnt need passion, he just needs to grift
and its working, just hope theres no one else out there trying to make their own comic legit because now they will be compared to this dogshit
It's easy to make your indie comic not associate with casualgate because it's something you need to call out for. Ripoffverse knew what he was doing and he attracted casualgate as a built in demographic. They're a bunch of weirdos but it's the only way such a less than mediocre comic wouldve been sold
whole idea behind comicsgrift SHOULD HAVE BEEN to help promote other indies
which is why they need to be burned out, torn from the roots, and never be allowed in the industry
the fact that there is not a more vehement rejection of cg's behavior is a very bad sign

Unfortunately, grifters realized that it's far too profitable to sell their shit as the only alternative to the "big 2" and will do their best to pretend that their indie comics is the only option. Meanwhile the comic readers who got tired of dc/marvel have plenty of things to read because they actually look for it and arent taking part in culture war nonsense
According to my knowledge it never happen.
I read digital and never seen ads. I was at my friends house and I didn't see any ads in kingdom come, all-star Superman, or the dozen of x-men books. He kinda make me want to buy physical, I forgot how much better it feels.
That and Jawbreakers being initially cancelled by pressure from Waid, What tanked CG in the years was that the projects either flat out failed to deliver or came months or even years after the crowdfunding campaign.
The general schisms between CG among each other also did long term damage

Comicsgate got started by Ethan Van Schriver because he was butthurt over getting fired for not being able to stop arguing with twitter morons

he celebrates a competitor getting cancer, this competitor is one of the most beloved creators in the last 20 years, especially for conservatives which evs claims to be still, and then has a petulant meltdown about how sales figures equate to his personal value, and caps it all off with a salute to the doxxing brigade he funded that soon turned against him
it perfectly encapsulates comicsgate, and remember that eric rippa july has publicly sided with comicsgate so he gives his assent to this exact behavior and in fact has copied a lot of it
2 years ago

mr july, what would you say is the positive of doxxing other conservative indies?
if you could, would you drive all other conservatives out of comics? why would you want to do that?
Does a full page portrait of Eric count as a cameo?
Does the book ending with his "mission statement" count as a self fellating ending?
Because we've got the merch ads out the wazoo.
libertarians and black men when they write asian women, it's the opposite of when most white guys write Asian women. Instead of "Woah, asian women are so delicate and pure" black men write Asian Women as, "Dude I just watched this kung fu flick, This Asian b***h probably gives great handjobs cause she knows Kung fu"
The threads are gonna keep getting spammed regardless so I might as well get my lulz in. Or do you think it's a coincidence that they keep getting bumped from page 10?
>If these were released as single issues the story would be boring.
That's not a positive point at all and very much a problem with the event-style comic format we deal with now. Every damn review of this book makes it sound worse since the reviewers are trying so hard to not properly criticize in the way they would other books. Also repeating 'The only problem I have' and it's a new problem each time makes that impression stronger.
I mean, it's not really a negative either. He's basically saying "this comic wouldn't be as good if it was incomplete." Really it's a nothing sentence.
I agree that comics are too decompressed in general though.
Many comics and manga have gained fans because they picked up an interesting issue that made them want to read more of it. Or had stories that were self-contained while contributing to an overarching arc. That is one of the important factors of the era that Eric is pandering to on that Thank you page. It creates the impression that he writing 'for the trade' in a manner that guarantees his business model, rather than writing in a sense that serves the story. The same shit he and other critics rag on marvel and DC about and even more decompression-style writing.
>It is better than Marvel and DC and is going to save comics >What is it about? >Uh- Er- It is better than Marvel and DC and is going to save comics
I am starting to think this might just be a lower end of mediocre cape comic propped up entirely by rage bait.
President Biden, Mr.July comic have completely destroy my business. You promised me an executive order to stop his comic from being delivered. You truly don't know what you allowed to be unleashed on this world
because he only produced about 30 of them and sent them to various underground YTubers who people think are nobodies so if a nobodie gets a copy then the everyman can
hes actually thought it out pretty well in all honesty so i have respect for the grift
so he's just not giving everybody else their fricking copies?? or is he doing some gay shit where everybody else has to wait for x amount of time until the "hype" has been properly built for it to finally be sent months late.
>>new goalpost jsut dropped
meeting your due dates has ALWAYS been the most important aspect of being part of making comics. this isn't some arbitrary thing I just came up with.
culture warriors wouldn't know much about actual comics though, would they?
Interesting theory almost conspiratorial but tbh I also find it bizarre that thousands of book have been delivered and only a handful of youtuber nobodies seem to have on one while it's usually a guarantee that somebody would share some proper scans by now. I doubt theres that much loyalty to him, especially when all of the youtubers have a shelf full of marvel and dc merchandise
Demigod: The Legend Begins is the most recent movie (at least translated to english) I can think of. Surprisingly grounded compared to the other stuff. Pili is the company that makes it, it meas Thunder so practically everything is Thunder.

homie you just released ONE COMIC, sorry more about making quality one off stories with as many new characters you can before you worry about shit like that
I remember Eric bragged about his talent that would be working on the book. He mentions Gabe sometimes but he never ever mentions cliff at all. Eric should've brought in a better artist and not some artist who probably sucked Eric's schlong to get on the book for scraps.

He claim to have over 10000 copies of the book in July and will ship in August.
Then he got 4 times the order amount and decided to wait until the campaign was over, which was something he should have done in the first place.
>which was something he should have done in the first place.

I'm just sorry that I already posted my "this isn't even a bruh moment" meme
This guy nametags seems like a strange person. I genuinely hope he's just a paid shill because being such a contrarian that he'd spams every rippa thread for months as his defense force for free is concerning
No, he's been insane in plenty of other threads - usually about shows made by John Kriscfalusi or Butch Hartman.
He's just the resident contrarian schizophrenic autist. I know schizo and autist get thrown a lot around here but he genuinely has a bad case of both.
Yeah, he frequently writes endless paragraph responses as the designated rippa champion. Even if he want a namegay, you can recognize his style from a mile away
Of course, you'll never acknowledge any of this, because you're a literal schizo who needs to glom onto any butthole who fricks up a crowdfunder that promises the earth.

>oversized
It's 96 pages, which is ~5x as much as a typical $4 comic. Therefore, it should be at most $20.
Instead, it's $35.

Eric pls
Then why are other kickstarters still cheaper?
100 pages for $15
>Then why are other kickstarters still cheaper?
>Why does this matter to you?
You said it's overpriced because he's self-publishing. Why are you changing your tune?
> Nike charges $200 for shoes that cost $1 to make. Do you think they're just selling shoes?
Right, and I'm claiming he's doing the same thing. He's not charging $35 because it's self-published or oversized... he's charging $35 because he can get away with it.
I'm well aware that he's just hustling. Doesn't make it not overpriced.
>You said it's overpriced because he's self-publishing. Why are you changing your tune?
I'm a different poster, and I apologize if I crossed your post with others. I'm just stupefied that people are arguing about his business model in general.
>Doesn't make it not overpriced.
It's overpriced to you. Specifically you.
You just want a comic. That's not what those backers are getting out of this.
For people who don't want to read comics, even $4 is overpriced.
No shit. Do you really need that spelled out to you?
By that stupid definition, literally nothing can ever be overpriced.
>literally nothing can ever be overpriced
Apparently you need this spelled out.
It's overpriced if not enough people are willing to pay for it to make it profitable. Max profit =/= max sales.
But eric is lying about both sales and profit, that's why he ran it all on a no transparency website.

Nike is an established brand with a track record that makes people want them, not a track record of good shoes, just the idea of shoes.
Eric doesn't even have that. But it does seem like he might have used cheap overseas labor all the same.
I'm personally not a fan of nike but like at least they had limited edition Kubo and the two string shoes and they looked great. They had some stupid mini game to get a free pair and I couldn't. I would have ruined those shoes though.
I routinely do kickstarters for my comics, which are 200+ pages. I can get a full color book printed for about 11 bucks, and I only print about 100 of them.
I see you ignored the selfpublished part.
See:
It's not like the dude is folding the comics by hand. There are no other self-published comics at this scale charging $35+ for a 96 page paperback.
Most crowdfunded comics don't charge the earth for one issue - they tend to actually budget before they do anything, and plan things out.
Instead of... y'know, missing the shipping date multiple times because they spend so much being a little b***h on Twitter
wah wah wah
>wah wah wah
Just honestly tell me if you think it is good and if it is worth its price?
That action panel looks just as bad and stilted as most of the Big 2.
Theyre not even hiding that CSP straight line tool
I don't feel like giving some z-list clout chasers some views just to hear them ramble for 10 minutes and then say some generic shit at the end. Page dump or bust.
Finally, more content beyond book covers. It looks fine. Nothing spectacular but it works. I like the coloring especially.
Was this too much to ask from the stubborn morons that bought this?
The only review that had detail said that he learned nothing about the characters and isom unique powers was never shown. Overall the art is okay, but the lack of background during action is kinda lazy.
>said that he learned nothing about the characters and isom unique powers was never shown
Holy shit, are you serious?
I want the scans right now
I mean if this was their best foot forward, then whether a storytime drops or not, I'm satisfied now. Won't buy it myself, won't stop anyone from supporting this.
I'll only be sad if nobody seriously posts scans after a long time because that's how you'll know nobody really cares.
I think it would be funnier if we just kept the shitflinging going, soon there will be no reason for me to participate in these threads
So is like Radiant Black?
We know what Radiant Black's powers are.
agree with the other anon--if nothing else, the coloring looks nice. I just hope we get better scans soon so we can judge the writing and linework with better accuracy.
The coloring is shit. It's the same garbage generic coloring that comics have had for 20 years that eveb shitty indies like Zenescope can do.
But this coloring costs 3 times as much and might make someone on twitter mad eventually when they hear about it. That means it's better.
There are people mad here, for some reason.
What did this dude do, to leave people so personally invested in being angry with this average comic?
Promise mountains.
A mix of stuff relating to Comicsgate, general politics, and wieneriness.
Most of the people here are shitposting, his fanbase is mad it's not super popular despite it never being about the comic at all, and some are actually annoyed at the shills and morons spamming this nothingburger so long despite all the signs it would be shit like every other outrage driven product is.
>mad it's not super popular
Isn't it doing pretty well despite being an independent comic?
Besides here, his twitter and z list youtube reviewers, where else are you seeing attention for this? Hardly anyone's talking about it. I put in a search for news reports and only bleedingcool comes up with an article from July. Not even CBR is talking about it.
40k are pretty good numbers for an American comic.
Being mentioned in comic sites as metric of popularity is rather silly.
>Being mentioned in comic sites as metric of popularity is rather silly
lotta cope there eric, weren't you supposed to deal a deathblow to the big two?
iirc, there was a stretch goal that involved putting the industry on notice?
>Sales don't matter
>What matter is being mentioned on a comic website
>eric doesn't understand marketing or variant pricing or dealing with paypal
classic
>>What matter is being mentioned on a comic website
Seeing as how July was complaining that websites weren't covering him yes it does matter. To him.
>Seeing as how July was complaining that websites weren't covering him yes it does matter. To him.
hence why he is in this thread now
no one else is even noticing this comic, because the campaign was a massive fraud
Good ol 0 transparency fake crowdfunding
Are the big comic websites know to bring awareness to publicly backed indie comics made by outspoken right wing people?
Back when comicgate started yes, because it was a constant shitshow since its leaders were fricking morons.
https://bleedingcool.com/comics/eric-d-july-gets-30000-orders-worth-2-5-million-for-non-woke-comic/
He wrote a perfectly fine article about it with some light criticism. And Mr. July freaked the frick out.
Because they always turn on each other due to egos, insecurity and money.
Eric himself was b***hing that none of the comic newsites was reporting on him before. He knows it's a measure of how much you're expanding your audience which means more money.
He won't even respond to Rich's emails. He'd rather just b***h about not being covered than actually try to get covered.
Gotta love how these things always turn into soap operas behind the scenes.
>doing
hard to say "doing" when it's a single campaign so far
And sure, it did pretty well. He sold to ~40,000 people. But that's not insane numbers or anything.
You still confuse clowning on shit with being mad? Maybe reddit is more your speed.
>The coloring is shit. It's the same garbage generic coloring that comics have had for 20 years
You seem to have missed that DC's coloring has somehow gotten worse in the last couple years. It's so saturated it makes me want to barf.
Nice one page spread.
Why the guy on the right so small
This looks extremely generic. Is this the thing that is supposed to contrast Marvel and DC comics? It literally looks like one of their issues lmao
Where's my gay romance, what about the Trump stand in villain? This isn't a superhero comic!
Where's my gay Trump romance?
When Pizza Hut becomes a character, Trump won't go gay for anything less.
That's another thing about this. Even aside from the obvious grift, literally EVERYTHING about this, the story, the art, the character design, is so fricking generic that I'm surprised that people are unironically excited for this.
It's almost as if DC and Marvel could sell generic capeshit and make a profit, but refuse to do so.
... They do.
Anon the wokeshit issues that you hate still regularly sell more copies than this did
But why would you want them to?
Man, if nothing else, at least most Marvel/DC stuff has an identity. This literally looks like some off-brand superhero tv shit that gets forgotten a week after it airs.
it's almost as if it's a new IP, like holy shit Sherlock
>it's almost as if it's a new IP,
Then maybe hit the ground running instead of wasting page count on a picture of yourself portrait and the boilerplate from your website?
The first issue doesn't even tell you what the main character's powers are. That's a cardinal sin for capeshit.
>The first issue doesn't even tell you what the main character's powers are.
Also, yeah. What the everloving frick is that shit?
One Piece sucked up until Arlong Park, not a big deal.
We learned about luffy dreams and motivation in 1 chapter. Oda even show luffy special ability and explain the power system.
So? It was still shit until Arlong Park.
No one piece fan will ever say this. You can't read the manga and say that you didn't enjoy, Orange Town Arc, Syrup Village Arc and Baratie Arc. That 70 chapters of content.
I've both said and seen something similar. It's not that the series was shit before Arlong Park, it's that Arlong Park is when it went from a just okay 5/10 to a "this is an instant classic" 9/10.
Nobody will call any of the previous arc 5/10, just because they weren't trying to be an epic finale of the East Blue Saga like the Arlong park.
anyways Arabasta Saga and Water 7 Saga have a better and more memorable finale.
The arcs you are calling mid introduce so many likable characters and fun stories . After arlong is when we started having mid arc like Reverse Mountain Arc and Long Ring Long Land Arc.
The only long saga that have overall amazing arcs is Summit War Saga.
cope
>not liking buggy
>not liking zoros intro that was also taken care of in a chapter
>not liking Mihawks introduction
homie what’s you’re taste like?
Buggy is the best character in the series, but it didn't get good until Arlong Park, my best friend told me he though it was boring until Drum Island.
pfft
Admittedly their was a few months between amazing fantasy and ASM 1 the demand did get big enough for this
Yes anon. Beginning with their THIRD issue. Not their FIRST.
why waste a page for this shit?
Because back then there was a letters page that fans cared about getting their letters to appear in, so it was explaining the process. Now unfortunately we have twitter so no need for this kind of thing anymore.
>you should only post your manifestos on twitter, and not make me pay 30 cents for it
based on the reviews he tried and failed to set-up a world. Isom is not in his super suit for most of the chapters, Yari and the Alphacore are an afterthought.
>it's almost as if it's a new IP,
...sarcasm?
Hell if anything, it being a new IP without any connections to established superhero universes would give the creator MORE incentive to do something unique and cool with it, since not only are you not bogged down by decades' worth of continuity, but you have to make your shit stand out somehow.
I mean, look at Spawn. It really wasn't like anything that came out before it.
I like Spawn but Todd had a perfect ending for the series back at #163.
Looks like he said "I'm gonna RIPPA IT UP" and then he did
So the comics out, but is it any good though?
No, the writing is as bad as the campaign writing, just like everyone predicted.
somebody please tell me why this is a big deal I don't get it
only people who bought it are allowed to see the text boxes by mr julys wishes
But why do people care? This looks like the most boring shit ever, am I supposed to know who this character is?
No one knows, even the people who read the comic struggle to define the protagonist, with even his hardcore fans being critical of everything ranging from the writing, grammar, pacing, and shitty art. Apparently, it's a capeshit comics where after 90+ pages still doesnt have the protagonist in costume or doing anything super
Long story short:
>youtuber who thrives off of nerd rage makes comic
>he uses nerd rage and controversy to promote his comic
>his lack of transparency and other easily avoidable problems lead people to believe there was no comic and it was just a scam
>comic is real but it's less than mid
And that's what all these thread have been about. Wait for the story time thread for maximum shitpost
>>his lack of transparency and other easily avoidable problems lead people to believe there was no comic and it was just a scam
I'll bet you that people are going to spam /misc/ shit and get it pruned.
>get it pruned
only eric & the rippaverse can carry threads to 500+
just reminding you that he have a post history.
yes you should have prepared for this since you got 3.2 million you dumb ape
god this guy is so cringe and pathetic
He didn't though, their is 0 verification of that number anywhere, and paypal froze his account over that and multiple other red flags
really???
i avoided this shit because i knew it would be toxic but holy frick i hope youre not memeing
tell this day don't know why he didn't deliver the books, posters and hats he have in the warehouse.
It's one thing to believe but not be totally sold on the idea, it's another to outwardly deny anything about it
It's owning the Left.
/co/ntrarians utterly BTFO.
You misused that word last thread, shithead.
/co/ck mongrels choking Big Black Comics
Now you're just throwing out words.
*choking on Big Black Comics
It's time to let one rip
>Dies
Wrong thread bro
>the rippaverse ethic
Shit sounds so corny
Also, scan this shit homosexual
What ethic? Fricking up so hard that people question whether you even have a product to sell?
So we can now confirm that of this 96 page book, 1 page is a full portrait of Eric, one is an ad for his wife's cosmetic company, and one is the boiler plate mission statement from his website. So we're already down to 93 pages before full spreads are taken into account.
Boy I sure do feel owned. I'm absolutely shaking right now.
>one is an ad for his wife's cosmetic company
lmfao can anyone post this?
Shit quality, but it's real
Pic is sideways, but frick it. Adds to the kuawlitee
Classy stuff. Thanks anon.
Imagine forcing this ugly coon thread a hundred times, trashed and disregarded buggy toad.
>t.
>Blank page behind it
Lol, doesn't exist.
How long should we wait before we just start making up spoilers?
I think if we time it right we can make another Morbing Time meme happen.
really drives home the fact that you don't care at all about this product
Well, I don't.
that's why you dream about making memes about it, the thing that you're clearly not obsessed with
Ohhhh. Shots fired.
You wiener knoblers are so easy to rile up, your obsession is the one being poked at. Your suffering makes insult you and Eric hilarious.
Your stupid hero even pretends calling you homosexuals for sucking his dick is harassment.
>really drives home the fact that you don't care at all about this product
Bro you won't even show off your own product.
Give it to me straight, Cinemaphile. Are Marvel and DC finished?
yes, even Klaus Schwab has admitted defeat
Lets see
>More expensive
>Little to no distribution
>Only a single issue
No, because this comic can't even be talked about outside of comparisons to them.
Yes, both companies will go sale next week for extremely cheap but nobody will by them so everyone will sudoku out of shame and then get cancelled for cultural appropriation.
>will this random comic kill the two largest comic book companies
I don’t know man
>couldn't meet his own due date
No, he'll never compete with them.
THE SECOND RIPPAVERSE BOOK IS ALREADY ON THE WAY
Cool.
Why do they look boring.
They look like failed singers.
Looking interesting is too woke.
What year is the story setting? Why the guy dress like a cave man?
How else will you know he's norse?
Gonna laugh if it's a libertarian flavored no man's land scenerio.
>Norfrica
You can see the blank page behind it lmao
Yeah, if they really wanted to cater to us they'd provide dicky.
Mr.enter did that and y'all still bullied him.
It's hard to bully Enter, he's just asking for it with that damn weasel on his face
Hopefully someone story times it i guess, i'm generally skeptical of these kinds of comics these days
GUYS GUYS GUYS
New Isom Review
>Cinemaphile b***hes about modern comics and politics
>creator shows up and starts a kickfundmegogostarter for a comic series that doesn't involve the lame shit of modern comics
>Cinemaphile is happy
>goal is met
>Cinemaphile is happy
>shipments are late
>"HOLY FRICK THIS IS A SCAM!"
>pictures of the warehouse where the comics are waiting to be shipped with Eric in front of said comics are shown
>"LE FAKE LOOK AT HIS SHADOW!"
>people on youtube reviewing and showing their physical copies of the book
>"THEY DIDN'T SHOW US EVERY SINGLE PAGE! FAKE!"
>Some anon posts his copy of ISOM
>"Holy shit this comic is terrible why do people care so much?" -said without a hint of irony.
>>Cinemaphile is happy
This never happened, stop lying.
Yes, someone has to be a contrarian on this board. There must always be a Cinemaphile trarian to maintain the balance
You paid a premium for something that looks worse than the City of Heroes tie-in comic.
But it exists. That means they won right?
>Cinemaphile is one person
>>"LE FAKE LOOK AT HIS SHADOW!"
Also the fact that his "warehouse photo" was a stock image with a piss filter
>>Some anon posts his copy
>Some anon
>Cinemaphile hates ~~*woke*~~
>assume just shitting out anything and proclaiming "BUT IT ISN'T WOKE!" is enough to get them to hand over money
>it isn't
>"g-guys what the frick we'll never win The Culture War like this..."
It's almost like just "not being woke" doesn't mean it's also not shit
most of Cinemaphile loves woke media
>assume just shitting out anything and proclaiming "BUT IT ISN'T WOKE!" is enough to get them to hand over money
Cinemaphile doesn't have any money and july definitely doesn't fricking need Cinemaphile's money.
Cinemaphile doesn't like good media, that's why they read comics
>july definitely doesn't fricking need Cinemaphile's money
July is literally screaming and crying that his YouTube friends are racist by not giving him free plugs. July needs a lot more than he'll readily admit to.
it's true, they are racist
How many on Cinemaphile do you think genuinely gave him money? The only paypigs here are outsider shills that only come here because Reddit banned them.
I thought being banned by Reddit makes you less of a homosexual.
Less of a homosexual, but your reach to people is limited, especially if you want to get more people on board with your comic.
If you're only coming here because Reddit banned you for being an obnoxious homosexual then the homosexualry is only going to follow.
Reddit has a warped view of what makes one a homosexual, certain abuse is perfectly ok depending on your status as a protected class. Children are not considered a protected class by these people.
You're posting on a site where the average user is a try hard contrarian ironic shitposter. Unironically they end up becoming the troon they mock.
>This comic book company was not created at random.
Wow! See, most are, that's the thing. One day you're walking along, minding your business, suddenly you turn a corner and -bloop- you created a freakin' comic book company lol. Just crazy how that happens. But it's cool this isn't like that.
>SEE, IT'S NOT A SCAM!!! SEE!! IT'S REAL!!!
>ok then where's your copy?
>......
So how do I read this if I'm not American
That's the thing, you can't unless you're very rich from which ever country you're from. Best wait for the pirates.
Is there really this much controversy around some indie comic, or is it just one schzio posting who stalks the creator?
it's eric himself
is autism, they got emotionally invested on this shit never coming out that are now mad it came out, is the snyder cut all over again.
No this is shilling. The comic is what you'd expect. The only reason we're getting isom threads 24/7 is because eric is paying people for clout.
tekken aura galaxy says no
Isom doesn't have superpowers. Instead it's all just grit, guts and street smarts.
Based. Frick these anti comicsgate haters
Go make a whiny tweet about it, homo.
eric how does it feel to be buck broke
Read again.
>Issue 1
>already talking about reboots and adaptations
It's hilarious that he uses an entire page of the comic to say "this comic will have continuity."
Which is like... the most basic promise you can expect for literally every comic outside of the Big 2.
You won't the whole thing was a scam to get incels to spend their money on a trash comic because they were angry that the big comic publishers aren't catering solely to them anymore and chose to create comics for everyone.
This is the best moment in book according to the reviewer. Also he think that characters speaking differently don't exist in the big 2.
upper class blacks talking down to hood homies
will be interesting to see how accurate this card was
there is a nip anti heroine so you can cross that off and my guess is the govt gave him the powers so tehyre the bad guys
Oh wow, I contributed to this bingo board and I'm actually 4/5, I was betting on the Japanese anti heroine
That is the most run of the mill paneling and layout work I've ever seen. It's totally fine, but it's super uninspired. This is the Big 2 Killer?
You know a lot of these pages seem to be incredibly light on dialogue. Is July's writing literally just "and then Isom punched the guys" over and over?
1. This art is wonky as hell. He looks fat on the first page and what the hell is with that hand.
2. Looks like a MK11 Xray. Either it's to show the type of damage or maybe a hint of his power being more than hit hard, but I doubt it.
3. I know the guy at the top of first page is supposed to be doing the usual villian observes protag bit, but I can't take that expression combined with that fivehead seriously.
I get the same impression I get from the art in that current issue of Spiderman when Gwen and Peter interact, they published something looking this bad out of desperation and deadlines, not because they thought it was the best they can offer.
>in front of a bunch of Marvel hardcovers and figures
why are they ALL like this?
It's just really funny how bland these money shots are. This is the big spread, the coolest moment of the book aaaand it's a guy in a Target uniform pointing at some other guy, drawn in the style of a DC Comics fill-in artist.
people really think this art is "good"
they need to be driven out of the medium
... is the big
>anti-woke
selling point just a black superhero beating up more black people?
I'd say Isom #2 will be out by March 2023 along with another book in the universe announced.
>If retcons are to exist, they will only be used in the classic sense of introducing new information.
What the FRICK does that mean?
It's phrased stupidly, but he's actually not wrong. Retcon doesn't mean contradiction, it just means "retroactive continuity."
A character like Ahsoka is a retcon - they revealed that Anakin had a padawan all this time that we never knew about. It didn't technically overwrite any canon, but it's still a retcon.
Now... I'm not sure why exactly he felt the need to specifically mention that. Because literally no one gets mad about going back and adding new information.
Fandoms are full of people that do. Especially in comics and if it's the worst kind of bullshit like Gwen having kids with Norman Osborn.
New information was presented that then re-contextualized older information without making the older information invalid.
take the thong out ya bussy, playa
It doesn't really mean anything. It's just word salad to make rubes nod their heads and think they're getting something smart.
I guess he's probably saying no retcons to make a character black or gay, given his style of grift.
List of known pages:
>cover page
>back over cover page (looks like text)
>thanks to supporters
>rippaverse ethic
>jewelry ad
>eric july self-spread
We already know of at least 6 pages that are not ISOM content.
So that's only six percent filler. I was expecting ten.
We've only seen ~15 pages so far though. That's a lot of filler at this point.
>Another thank you page
>"Yaira will return"
Okay we're up to 8+ pages of filler. I can't imagine whatever is on the back of Yaira is significant either. I'm guessing we'll see that 10% number with no problem.
This is not and was never a crowdfunding project, he just pretends it is to scam people.
The douche had stretch goals and multiple tiers for donations, that's pretty much the definition of a crowdfunder
>so what if there's been no transparency, no oversight and no quality control? I want to pretend this shitshow has been worth it, because I need to feel superior to everyone who hasn't fallen for an obvious grift!
No, he presented it as crowdfunding to trick suckers like you. It was so not crowdfunding he had to make his own bullshit site to cover it up. And he didn't have stretch goals, just promises of something in another book.
cyberfrog tactics entirely at work
>make one entire full page just say a chapter number despite only being 40 pages
>that counts as a page
When the hell are y'all homies gonna motherfricking storytime this shit?
I hope the anon who does it puts rippa's wife AD as part of the storytime.
Looking forward to this, it's gonna be hilarious.
i keep checking readcomicsonline but no luck yet
Seriously why are all the dudes reviewing Isom look like political cartoon boomers?
Because they got sent advance copies despite Eric claiming that he was sending them all out at the same time.
>all muh favorite franchises! I looove franchises! Content and IP too!
>Ill-Advised Pt.1
Jesus, the jokes just write themselves at this point, don't they.
"we will keep our reboots to a minimum"
The guy only has one issue out and he's already talking about rebooting it.
I genuinely don't understand why he'd phrase it that way. Just say you won't do any reboots
WHERE is the ghetto storytime? I refuse to believe any anon in this thread actually bought it.
All the Yaira panels are booty shots
>rippa: I'm surprised how much people liked the yaira character, I guess I better make more merch of her and big panels for showing her T&A
He knew full well that the coomers of his group would like it and it shows
Nice
i still cant believe he put fricking adverts in it
iirc, it's an ad for his wife's business.
Holy fricking shit, the ads aren't even at the end of the book. That's atrocious.
And there's even an ad FOR RIPPAVERSE in the middle. Good lord.
We will win you leftist troon.
thats not bad in all honesty because alot of old comics did that
but its still HIS fricking adverts in a comic that costs more than a replica key from locke and key
Except this is a 96 page, "premium" comic. I have never seen a book like that with ads in it.
And it's not like he needed the ad revenue to fund the book. It's free ads for himself and his wife.
He literally made the book worse on purpose for no reason.
you just repeated exactly what i said back to me
You said old comics did that. But they didn’t. TPBs have never had ads.
im not pulling my preacher or GL issues out to show you the adverts
i know theres fricking adverts in the middle of the book
Prove it. I’m not talking about single issues, but trades.
Exactly - at the back. These are in the middle of the book.
how can issue1 be a trade
It’s square bound and 96 pages. It’s exactly the same as a standard marvel or dc trade.
okay i retract my statement i thought it was just 1 issue with 40 pages max like my GL collection
i know for a fact theres random adverts for Gamecube gamesin the middle
but still i said "he put his OWN adverts in his comic" hes a fricking idiot who needs his head sorting and since when is a comic reader gonna fricking order home made israeliteelery
simplest explanation has to be padding out the page count
but really he's buck broken & pussywhipped
well most issues have like 30 pages and 5 or so for adverts
so there must be like 10/15 filler pages and thats not including the forewords and appreciations
i really do wonder how many pages are actual comic content
>well most issues have like 30 pages and 5 or so for adverts
Not for this price.
Not the guy you're replying to, but trade paperbacks usually have in-house ads for other trades from the same company at the back.
>the ads aren't even at the end of the book. That's atrocious.
>That's atrocious.
Lol, never read any books from the 2000s and below then
Unless you're either forgetting that comic books since the gold age has ads littered through out the book, you're just exposing yourself as a fool here anon.
Its a trade paperback moron, he couldn't manage single issues because his writing is bad. But keep lying about the product he's selling, he does too.
>Its a trade paperback moron
Absolutely means nothing, it's his comic with his own ads about said comic book universe. You're trying to hard to complain about a mid
book
>he couldn't manage single issues because his writing is bad.
Yeah, cause it'd be stupid to try and justify a $30+ book that only has around 30 pages. Again, you're spending your time complaining about a mid book.
No they aren't its a israeliteelry ad and shit for his band and other trash and its to lie about hte page count
Wow almost like shorter books like his don't cost that much, and a actual 1 issue would be even cheaper if they put ads in it lol
Ads lower price, they don't supplement page count like Eric has.
>ads lower price
>for a crowdfunded book
Are you talking about the price of the book, or about the ads. It's Eric book, he could charge however much, if people think its worth it, good for them. As for the ads, again why need to lie. I mean its normal for comics to have ads about all kinds of shit in them to begin with
Its not normal for trades or other books of this length especially at that price point.
lol no i bought marshel law a few weeks ago and its like 300 pages and only about 20 pages is art covers and i got it for £17 new
>for £17
Yeah literally no reason for his 35 plus 35 for shipping lol
It is a brand new indie trade not a random floppy of Swamp Thing. I have legitimately never seen an ad in one of those outside of the last few pages after the story wraps.
This isn't a trade, just a very long #1. Also, I genuinely don't see your problem. I mean, are you surprised at the idea that an indie company is putting ads for its own comic in the middle of the book? What difference does it make? Are you going to argue that it ruins the story, or you're no longer immersed?
>an indie company is putting ads for its own comic in the middle of the book
>indie company
>own comic
pick one
That's his wife's business (not sure how evolved Eric is in it tho). Not really sure what you're trying to get at.
>its to lie about hte page count
Why would he need or even want to lie about it? Unironically tell what's unique about Eric's book besides the price for a 96-paged book? Does his book ads in it? Yeah. Are all of them Rippa? No, but is this something that's unique to this man's shit?
Why do all the earrings she's selling look so cheap and fugly?
because they are cheap, have you never been to a market and seen the israeliteellery stands made by 40 something women?
I don't fricking know. I mean this just looks like basic shit you can go find at Macy or JC Penny, so frick me I guess.
>>so what if there's been no transparency, no oversight and no quality control? I want to pretend this shitshow has been worth it, because I need to feel superior to everyone who hasn't fallen for an obvious grift!
You're just spending your time hyping up something you don't care or like.
The campaign was shit and sketch af and the writing was awful. There is no reason to think anything else about the comic.
That goes double with the intentional obfuscation.
Why does a comic that was paid for by dumbass rubes to make need ads? PBS doesn't have commercials for this reason.
No it's not.
>Why does a comic that was paid for by dumbass rubes to make need ads?
its one of the main points of these threads but eric still cries about it claiming its moving goalposts
Eric crying? I don't believe it!
you better hajeeb it brutha
the israeliteelry is overdesigned. lose the hoop and the bottom pendant, and it's 10x better.
what if you want to look like you belong in Kingdom Hearts?
Ads in a comic isn’t anything new, though the delay fr number one is whatever, the real tell for this shit is how much time will there be between number one and two
It's clearly a divider you troon to separate the main comic from the extra like any other comic book as seen here
cope eric
Ywnbaw
whatever helps you cope to stop the seethe
Been out of the shill threads for a few weeks. Now that the book is finally out what's the GRD on his powers even are and what's up with his standard supersuit having no hidden identity, is it a luke cage/john stewart situation?
It was false advertisement. His unique powers may be revealed in issue 2.
>96 pages of "content" being the intro issue
>no costume and no superpowers despite advertising his "unique powers"
This is truly like those netflix Marvel shows that are on a budget but at least they actual have the costume revealed in the finale and the powers are used sparingly
beastboy from titans
I feel like giving BB a pass because transformation like powers are costly in live action but at the very least they showed him use his powers turning into a tiger in his debut...and everyone has reference to know what BB can do.
Isom would be like if spiderman's first 10 issues were about Peter just getting the shit kicked out of him then ending on him going on a field trip to oscorp. The pacing is atrocious
Ultimate Spider-man stretched it to 7 issues (#1 was double sized I think). But there was a whole story in that trade.
maybe he can become an isometric cube
thats what this is all leading to
(dunno why we couldnt see that somehwere in the first 90 pages)
just be quiet
youre making me laugh but just pffft be quiet man
isom is actually a reboot of cubix
ISOM
confirmed for "isometric"
I figured it out, yw
got his powers from accidentally solving a magic rubix cube
hes called isom because he folds under the slightest pressure
so he really is an eric kuly self insert mary sue
No shut up none of those count they're probably woke. Shut up shut up shut up shut up
>My impression is that this is just color-swapped Invincible.
this isnt true
invincible actually had a story and characters
Why is Cinemaphilemblr the only board that purposely shills for every little thing?
>shills for webcomics
>Shills for Twitter heads
>shills for political autists
>shills for alt comics that always fizzle out
It's fricking nuts and they do it for free
What's wrong with talking about webcomics or indie books on the board about comics?
I also hate stonetossers and rufogay
I'm convinced it's the work of a touristgay that's just a fan/actual paid shill. Once they get the autist ball rolling, it doesnt take much for the board's regular autist/contrarians to join the free shilling. It's a valid strategy, if it werent for them I wouldnt even know about this shit comic
No/low quality mods.
Our moderation is so absent that it's not even funny anymore.
>padding things out with full-page splash panels of shit that only needs to be establishing shots
jfc, at least fill all that empty space by the car with some infodump dialogue
I'm guessing the reviewer always has resting b***h face? He doesn't look like he's enjoying any of this even on the 'best part'
coomer
wtf is this shit?
kek, that's not a calf bro, that's the youtuber's thumb.
loooool frick
Look at the calf anatomy on the very cover
I dunno about anyone else, but I can see plain as day when someone has no love for what they are making, and that's exactly what I see here
You can see the creator YouTube videos to see his lack of passion.
he doesnt need passion, he just needs to grift
and its working, just hope theres no one else out there trying to make their own comic legit because now they will be compared to this dogshit
It's easy to make your indie comic not associate with casualgate because it's something you need to call out for. Ripoffverse knew what he was doing and he attracted casualgate as a built in demographic. They're a bunch of weirdos but it's the only way such a less than mediocre comic wouldve been sold
he's more fandom menace than CG, he was hustling both crowd.
hes more lime green than green
yea ok
whole idea behind comicsgrift SHOULD HAVE BEEN to help promote other indies
which is why they need to be burned out, torn from the roots, and never be allowed in the industry
the fact that there is not a more vehement rejection of cg's behavior is a very bad sign
--RFRICA
Is that an ad for another rippaverse comic or something?
Is it like a gang or something? A super team with really shitty costumes?
I know that Big 2 floppies are full of ads, but have Marvel or DC EVER put an ad in the middle of a TPB?
According to my knowledge it never happen.
I read digital and never seen ads. I was at my friends house and I didn't see any ads in kingdom come, all-star Superman, or the dozen of x-men books. He kinda make me want to buy physical, I forgot how much better it feels.
I feel like there's some old random examples I can't quite recall, but as a practice no, thank God.
i will say thank you this this white boy for the screenshots but i hope he doesn't get eviscerated by eric for showing off so much
Please die, femoids.
Rippaverse is the gamergate of Cinemaphile
Pretty sure that was comicsgate
This is comicsgate.
Wasn't comicsgate a bunch of people within off conservatives like 10 years ago?
Culture wars outrage bait homosexualry never went out of style.
Comicsgate got started by Ethan Van Schriver because he was butthurt over getting fired for not being able to stop arguing with twitter morons
It died immediately because shocker, comic books are a dead irrelevant medium only being kept alive by nostalgia
That and Jawbreakers being initially cancelled by pressure from Waid, What tanked CG in the years was that the projects either flat out failed to deliver or came months or even years after the crowdfunding campaign.
The general schisms between CG among each other also did long term damage
It's essentially just one big advertisement campaign that falls flat once you get off your lazy ass and actually bother finding good comics instead of listening to only clickbaiters
>That and Jawbreakers being initially cancelled by pressure from Waid
That didn't even happen - some LCS who was going to stock Jawbreakers just looked at the insane bullshit the casualgaters were spouting, said "no thanks", then their store just HAPPENED to get vandalised
After Meyer gave out a list of addresses that cancelled their orders.
the list of things comicsgate is guilty of could fill an entire collection of encyclopedias
I didn't even remember that one holy shit
this one remains my favorite
its so busy, so much to unpack at once, its a masterpiece of disaster
he celebrates a competitor getting cancer, this competitor is one of the most beloved creators in the last 20 years, especially for conservatives which evs claims to be still, and then has a petulant meltdown about how sales figures equate to his personal value, and caps it all off with a salute to the doxxing brigade he funded that soon turned against him
it perfectly encapsulates comicsgate, and remember that eric rippa july has publicly sided with comicsgate so he gives his assent to this exact behavior and in fact has copied a lot of it
mr july, what would you say is the positive of doxxing other conservative indies?
if you could, would you drive all other conservatives out of comics? why would you want to do that?
The correct term is "casualgate"
Did the guy actually released his first comic book issue?
Does a full page portrait of Eric count as a cameo?
Does the book ending with his "mission statement" count as a self fellating ending?
Because we've got the merch ads out the wazoo.
Japanese antiheroine? Can someone explain that one?
the names katana, watch out for her sword
libertarians and black men when they write asian women, it's the opposite of when most white guys write Asian women. Instead of "Woah, asian women are so delicate and pure" black men write Asian Women as, "Dude I just watched this kung fu flick, This Asian b***h probably gives great handjobs cause she knows Kung fu"
Kung fu movie made by blacks have almost no difference in utility between the genders. Most of time it's an action comedy.
Also Eric was inspired by generic capeshit he read 5 years ago.that why the girl is most likely Japanese with a generic highlighted hair.
Genuinely don't understand how can you guys waste so much time and energy on something you guys apparently don't care about.
The threads are gonna keep getting spammed regardless so I might as well get my lulz in. Or do you think it's a coincidence that they keep getting bumped from page 10?
Why did my Gravity Falls thread get deleted but This has been out for hours before hand?
Given the usual standard of GF thread on Cinemaphile, I assume your thread was shotacon spam
This- was my image and I asked who do you ship him with.
dipper 2 or dipper 3 or dipper 4
What's with anime an forgetting about noses

New review
Better than Marvel and DC
i fail to believe that
black label have put some bangers out lately
The same shit he and other critics rag on marvel and DC about and even more decompression-style writing.
>removing the text from speech bubbles
FRICKING KEK
>"I've seen way worse from Marvel or DC"
lol that's not the ringing endorsement he thinks it is
At least he calls him out for the fricking ad.
>It is better than Marvel and DC and is going to save comics
>What is it about?
>Uh- Er- It is better than Marvel and DC and is going to save comics
I am starting to think this might just be a lower end of mediocre cape comic propped up entirely by rage bait.
President Biden, Mr.July comic have completely destroy my business. You promised me an executive order to stop his comic from being delivered. You truly don't know what you allowed to be unleashed on this world
#wewillwin
and if you dont want to pay that much youre a racist and a homophobe
new "right wing comics revolution" tactic just dropped
knew it
i fricking knew peanut butter wasnt actually real
How do we still not know what's actually in the comic, this is a lot weirder than if it flat out didn't exist
because he only produced about 30 of them and sent them to various underground YTubers who people think are nobodies so if a nobodie gets a copy then the everyman can
hes actually thought it out pretty well in all honesty so i have respect for the grift
so he's just not giving everybody else their fricking copies?? or is he doing some gay shit where everybody else has to wait for x amount of time until the "hype" has been properly built for it to finally be sent months late.
>new goalpost jsut dropped
hell give the copies when people are ready for them they have to wait he only has 3.2mil to spend
>>new goalpost jsut dropped
meeting your due dates has ALWAYS been the most important aspect of being part of making comics. this isn't some arbitrary thing I just came up with.
culture warriors wouldn't know much about actual comics though, would they?
im not sure whether youre going along with my joke are trying to be a c**t
Interesting theory almost conspiratorial but tbh I also find it bizarre that thousands of book have been delivered and only a handful of youtuber nobodies seem to have on one while it's usually a guarantee that somebody would share some proper scans by now. I doubt theres that much loyalty to him, especially when all of the youtubers have a shelf full of marvel and dc merchandise
Does anyone here read Chinese cultivation novels?
I am only into taiwanese puppetry.
what was that recent movie? thunder and lightning or something ? im sure that was taiwanese puppetry
Demigod: The Legend Begins is the most recent movie (at least translated to english) I can think of. Surprisingly grounded compared to the other stuff. Pili is the company that makes it, it meas Thunder so practically everything is Thunder.
thanks man i jsuyt recall some cool sword scenes in webms a year or 2 ago
It was probably from Thunderbolt Fantasy, if you saw it on Cinemaphile or /wsg/. It's made by a Jap writer so it's closer to Cinemaphile weebery.
I really want to get back into Thunderbolt Fantasy, but I can't seem to find any decent torrents for it any more. Should I ask /t/, or will they just call me a gay?
I can tell you here (and call you a gay if you want). There are good torrents for it on nyaa under the live action category. Shami and Deepest Blue are the ones everyone watches.
I read the comics of it. Wuxia shit is cool but repetitive.
>I'll become the Immortal Demon God Ki King Cultivator!
God no, that and isekai are about as bad as capeshit.
Frick no. It's worst than even isekai. Same ol overpowered dude becoming the strongest immortal so he can get the highest social credit score and get with the same boring chicks. Cultivation is so rampant that it's even leaking out into some english literature by chinaboos.
Yes, I love the power levels. Make westerns stuff look small and insignificant in comparison.
No but you Chong will get the dong
>There be plenty
So, the 2 new books for the rippaverse he is planing to make is a book about his political band and a book created by chuck dixon.
jesus christ i remember seeing his rap videos and just feeling off after respecting for months a few years back
what a fricking tosser
>the only token nig in a metal band
No wonder they kicked him.

I love that guy - it'd feel weird to exclude him, given how much joy he gives us all!
Leave the Schwabposter out of this.
The art looks traced from a 3d model. Not saying the method is bad, but the actual art is below house style you see from the big 2.
So it's not very good?
We are talking about Chinese cultivation novels and Klaus Schwab. What do you think?
im still upset tony sly died i liked his acoustic stuff
How many issues were ordered?

new review
NEW RIPPA REVIEWS
Yeah, here's more reviews since no scans are out yet
>More than 10% of the book is ads and filler
Eric was absolutely that kid that argued with his teacher that he fulfilled the page length assignment by writing extra large.
good, frick teachers, they're almost as bad as cops
>hates teaches
>hates cops
Hmmmm

How about the other shit then? If you do anything less than jerk him off on your capeshit site he starts bawling.
based, maybe I should help him make a game so I can profit off this shit
A game that releases in 40 yrs and is a shotty 8 bit game that only works on the rippastation
no, it's gonna be a forever early access Steam only superhero 8bit game that features crafting for no fricking reason
>canon and continuity
homie you just released ONE COMIC, sorry more about making quality one off stories with as many new characters you can before you worry about shit like that
I remember Eric bragged about his talent that would be working on the book. He mentions Gabe sometimes but he never ever mentions cliff at all. Eric should've brought in a better artist and not some artist who probably sucked Eric's schlong to get on the book for scraps.
>it'll never happen

Every time Rippa refers to the book as "the product" in a tweet, take a drink.
>saying that you're responsible for delivering a good product to your paying customer is just bad, just because
Sounds real passionate about it, doesn't he? "The product". "My customers". You'd figure he'd be saying "My comic book" and "My fans". Which one sounds mor personal and lively, homosexual?
>you can't be passionate about a product, because my commie infested brain demands it to be so!
