However, if a company wants funding then they sell shares. The profits are then divided up among the shareholders. That's how it normally works.

I'll take a risk on the first one to find out. If an indie guy makes something that looks worthwhile, I don't have a problem paying a bit of a premium since he has to pay more than the big guys to make it.
