I'll never get over this. Paul F Tompkins talked about crying because of how "powerful" her performance in TFA was and it was surreal, like he was talking about a completely different movie and actress

Picard broke their brains. As someone who got out half way through season 2, it's an understandable consequence of finishing that show. I'm not sure I'll ever truly recover
Even I have feelings like "Reva is alright" which I know are wrong

the character in a sense, if not written by a moron, would be pretty cool. undercover jedi at the dark side kind off deal, similar to revan who switched sides. its actually a shame that she carries his name and then they execute it in such a shitty way ON TOP of the shitty actress.

call it out for what it really was, a n extremely half assed review. Jay never pushes back on Rich's dumb statements and Mike still has brainrot from the Picard reviews.

It's 60 minutes of Rich saying it's ok just because and Jay going well you see... only to go back to Rich saying it's ok just because while Mike's brain finally gives in to his dementia.

I mean, they gave that shit known as The Force Awakens a positive review back when it came out. So I don't think this is exactly new. And by the way, I think that the prequels suck too so I'm not some dude who hates RLM cause they trashed the prequels. I just was surprised that after correctly analyzing how much the prequels sucked, they for some reason liked The Force Awakens. Makes no sense to me.

I appreciate that this post is probably satire but it’s amazing how many people thought this way. None of them want to admit that they were stupid and got JJ-Abram’d when the film was released. And that the constant running and shouting in TFA distracted them from what a contrived, poorly acted, unimaginative piece of shit the film was.

Everyone liked the Force Awakens when it came out, because everyone expected it has somewhere interesting to go. RLM literally said they were just ok with the safe reboot as long as the sequels delivered something new and refreshing. After all TFA at the time was a real SW movie, had practical effects, JW score, OG characters and real sets. We just hate it not because we realized nothing was planned and it’s just a waste of time, it was partially JJs fault from the beginning for setting up so many mysteries that would fail to deliver.

Far more people should have called out that the rebels vs. empire rehash and ultra mega deathstar blowing up a civilization in one shot was absolute metastatic cancer for the health of star wars.

I blame Rhian for that. The First Order could have been 100% done after TFA and the New Republic could have survived with just major fleet damage, we could have seen Kyle and the Knights of Ren become dark side cultists/terrorists or something, maybe allow Rey to fully convert to the Dark side and pull Luke to the spotlight and try to save them from the darkness, maybe at the end they join forces and put an end to the underground cultists. It was 100% possible to go somewhere after TFA

I’m not writing anything special, just making a more original story than Disney ended up doing. Not tell me your idea? hard mode:
              >TFA still happens

They should've ripped off Winter Soldier as a mean to reboot the political situation. Like bad guys tricked new republic into building superweapon and hijacked it. It would work.

Idk about the serious review, that is what he mentioned in the Plinkett video. He had a ton of complaints about TFA but prequel fans want to gaslight everyone into thinking they are Disney shills, if anything the prequels are now part of Disney too, doesn’t matter.

This. TLJ is also garbage but TFA was self-evident trash well before TLJ was screened.

Rian had to write around how TFA set up Luke Skywalker abandoning his friends and being a coward (something the real Luke would never do). Hate TLJ all you want, but everything bad about the ST is JJ’s fault. He’s a hack who can’t write for shit.

              Anonymous

I get the feeling JJ's mysterybox was while open ended still meant to have the planet have something on it that was key to stopping the First Order, and that was why Luke went there and why it was hidden.

                Anonymous

The problem with that is why wouldn’t Luke come running after the First Order destroyed several planets (a completely moronic scene BTW) unless he was cut off from the Force? JJ wrote whoever was going to direct Episode 8 into a corner.

Look at the robes Luke had at the end of TFA. He was still a Jedi, and the map thing was on purpose, we could have gotten a proper answer and execution of the mystery and his disappearance. Rian changed his clothes to a hobo because he wanted to go with that plot.

        >because everyone expected it has somewhere interesting to go

        >We just hate it not because we realized nothing was planned

Your brain has been rotted by days culture of endless sequels and cinematic universes. TFA failed as a film. A film should have a beginning, middle and end regardless of whether it’s part of a series. ANH is a perfect example of how a film like this should be - a self contained story. TFA doesn’t work as a sequel or as a jumping off point or as a standalone film. It was shit on release and it’s shit now.

I saw The Force Awakens when it came out in 2015 and I hated it right away, I didn't care whether or not it set up stuff for the future because I hated it so much for what it was in itself. I wasn't the only one either. We were definitely in the minority but there were plenty of critics.

TFA was just a ANH remake except worse in every possible way.
ive come to view the prequels in the same light as last of us 2, atleast they tried something. flubbed it horribly but atleast tried. And i'll personally take 1failed tries over 100 grey-paste rehash/remakes

It's almost their video on Phantom Menace was a documentary produced 10 years after that movie came out, and their Force Awakens video was made directly after they watched it. Peoples opinions change with time and further analysis. How have you not thought about this?

Fair enough, but I hated the prequels as soon as I saw them and I also hated The Force Awakens as soon as I saw it. To me both the prequels and The Force Awakens are so obviously bad that I don't know why it would take anyone 10 years to realize that they suck.

I gave Force Awakens a B- walking out of it the first time and couldn't even finish it the 2nd time I tried to watch it. Being lost in the 'movie theater experience' is a real thing and Mike was caught up in seeing a Star Wars movie looked just like the ones he saw when he was a kid. Go back and watch the Half in the Bag, Mike is the only one really singing it's praises. Rich thinks it's 'okay' and Jay just wants to frick Daisy Ridley. Giving their opinions the minute they got back from the theater was a bad idea.
