The Senate for allow it to become a corrupt oligarchy and pushing a good man to action
If they just let Caesar be full power would have been resorted to the senate in time, but nope they fricked around got a real dictator to put them in their place for good

He knew what he was doing was wrong. That's why my man Labienus didn't follow him but actually sided against him, and Caesar ended up with a cretin like Antony as his right-hand man instead.

treason, marching on rome, making himself king, etc.

that other dipshits had also done similar things in the very recent past doesn't make it any better

Caesar was nothing like Sulla, the similarities end with bringing their armies into the city

The Senate was too self-serving and was dragging Rome down. How many more riots in the forum would it have taken? How many patricians had to be barricaded inside their own villas and for how long? The Roman people couldn't have made it any more clear that they were suffering, and the Senate couldn't have made it clearer that they didn't give a shit

doesn't change anything. rome is governed by laws. you cannot govern it by breaking its laws. then you just have a military junta ruling. which is what they had for the remainder of their "empire", which is why it collapsed. rome no longer existed. only the idea of it in the minds of people who had only beard about it in tales from others. the only people willing to fight and die for rome from this point on were barbarian immigrants stupid enough to buy into the lie.

The law exists to serve the people, not vice versa

                laws exist to prevent tyranny

the patricians are your betters. deal with it.

That homosexual Cassius and his b***h boy Brutus. Mommsen was right that their murder of Caesar over 'what ifs' should have been condemned as a crime against all humanity.
