Stephen King is a hack. Whatever success he has as a writer is a testament to the mouth breathing morons who are his best fans. His work and writing style reflects that.
          It's a mess.
But the secret to reading his books is to skip about ten pages ahead and backtrack if you really have.
You can skip 40 pages and miss absolutely nothing..

I also tried reading Salem's Lot. Pages and pages of describing every single person and detail of the town. Every little detail of how some random townsperson looks and dressed. Every single detail about a random building the character looks at. I just got mad at my time being wasted. Move along with the fricking plot already.

Besides the infamous scene from It the weirdest "WTF does this have to do with anything" one is the prolonged description in The Shinning of a play Jack Torrence wrote about a child molester that he personally identifies with. It literally comes out of nowhere and has nothing to do with the plot or anything.

I tried reading "the Dark Tower" and its simply put, a wannabe Blood Meridian. Its too slow, the prose is uninteresting and the worldbuilding is embarrassing.

"IT" actually has interesting ideas, but its not worth the read.

There's a really good chapter in the expanded version of the Stand about all the people who survived the Superflu and then died in stupid random accidents or from minor things that turned fatal without a medical infrastructure in place. There's another one I really like around the same point in the book that's just a collection of newspaper clippings and transcripts of radio and TV broadcasts that shows society completely breaking down. Tbh the whole first half of the book is really solid and one of the better apocalyptic stories up until all the stuff with Abigail and Flagg kicks in.

The side character that finds pure heroin and o.d.'s, the woman who is terrified and finds an old revolver that explodes in her hand killing her. Trashcan man. Flagg talking about his previous incarnations walking along the highway. all awesome. I am currently rereading it since the beginning of the millennium and watching the new remake. It makes some changes that keep everything new.

And what age did you realize Stephen King is a talentless hack?

Stephen King's bricks are notorious for overwhrought development of side characters. It's likely done so he can harvest more shekels from the publisher. There's the main plot which usually intrigues you, and the finale with always falls flat on it's ass. For example, It starts with some kind of a demonic clown presence hunting children in a small town. It gets you involved, but then you learn about homestead of every single town resident, adult lives of kids when the plot jumps forward (and back), and in the end it's some kind of evil meteor. That's how he repays you for the journey. Shining is even worse, that's why he hates Kubrick who just threw away all the nonsense and enhanced the horror. Some of the stuff he writes can be really neat but you have to look at it separately from the overall narrative.

You forgot about the cosmic turtle! But honestly, IT is the only King book I've read and this aspect of it was something I really enjoyed. The timing of some chapters is almost comedic in how it cuts you off from the plot, like this one chapter about a fire in some Black social club 30 years prior. I can understand that being frustrating and the plot definitely doesn't pay off properly in the end. I read the book like a series of short stories set in the same town, it's so big it kinda works this way.

I've read 20+. It was babbys first edgy writer, in hindsight. Loved most of the Dark Tower series but the self-insert and the ending was infuriating. I'm fairly certain he's a sexual deviant, possibly a pedo. Seems like a revolting human being with some of the worst takes I've seen, but it could be the classic celeb seperation from the common man. Won't be upset when he croaks, in fact the car should have ended him and he'd have a better aftermath for it.

perfect facial ratios, perfect maxillary development, symmetrical, feminine estrogenic facial characteristics like full lips and especially a dominant upper lip (cupids bow), high brows and upturned nose. the "serious" appearance comes from a slightly longer Scandinavian philtrum (see

) and the downward sloping inner angle of her brows as well as the forward length and angle of her nose being less neotenous than the stereotypical button-nose barbie phenotype. also the deeper nasolabial folds that are associated with ageing or malnutrition or both
tldr the ideal highly attractive female (or male) face is basically a set mathematical formula. what causes normies to interpret an attractive face as a different kinds of sexy is their innate physiognomy processes, so that small variations of the ideal (which, when added together, aren't enough to downgrade them from a highly attractive rating) create a different perception or narrative for the observer. its part of the much wider physiognomy process that normies use to assign personality characteristics based on the random facial features of average or ugly people as well

how many female celebrities have openly groped Cavill like this and how much worse do you think it is when he meets female fans at conventions or just while he's out and about? It seems like every time he's doing interviews with a females around they are constantly putting their hands all over him. I wonder if he even enjoys sex at this point since it's probably easy for him to get basically any female on the planet.

Small part but she appears in multiple scenes. She is insanely gorgeous. Why she didn't become more well known and land bigger parts after House of the Devil is god damn shame. Likewise, Alex Essoe only appears in a few scenes but kills it as Shelley Duvall 2.0. Flanagan casted some top tier horrorfus for this.

Rebecca did a great job with that character. She really embodied what vampires are supposed to be, that duality between allure and repulsion. I mean, her character is truly a beautiful monster. Off course it helped that Flanagan seems to understand how to translate King´s narrative style to the medium too. I hope he is capable of doing the same for the Dark Tower. I´m convinced he is the right man for the job.
