Well you are an idiot if you think that. Yes WB is buried deep in debt, but it seems all of Zaslav’s ideas are backfiring as the stock worth of WB continues to plummet.
Also, I imagine less and less people are going to want to work on WB knowing their finished films/shows could easily get canned

Cotugno will always be infuriating for being the biggest example of fantastic born into wealth and success privilege seen in the modern world, but will always endlessly cry over how she is always being so terribly persecuted by the evil privileged elites out there every single day.

She will easily be the first fricking person to complain about privileged people and getting their way or getting into positions they never earned, not like her who clearly worked her ass off for where she is.

I've never felt bad for her. She's a good artist, but she's also annoying, racist, sexist, overly dramatic, a hypocrite, and a blatant liar as shown by her CartoonBrew article when she talked about her experience at CalArts.

All these "focused on diversity" artists really just can't admit that they just wanna see more cute girls and boys making out in cartoons like in anime. If they admitted that and stopped hiding behind the guise of, "IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN", I might respect them a bit more and feel bad when they get their 10th project cancelled.

This sums up my thoughts exactly. Especially since their ideas of “diversity” are almost identical. It’s all very surface-level, as if checking off a list. It’s not great when a show’s writing feels like a fanfic of itself.

the only diversity peddler i actually ever believed when they said 'it's for the children' was rebecca sugar. she actually went to child psychologists and sat through lectures about bullying and shit

A year ago Sugar and Ian JQ attended a Walt Disney Family Museum Panel for LGTBQ+ people but normally those panels showcase people who only work or worked at Disney, so probably they have something on development at DTVA after Steven Universe and OK KO! ended with Ian mentioning that Toby Fox helped on the music of his upcoming project.

Ah, my apologies, I assumed you were just being disingenuous.

In any case, Jackie was the designated "waifu" character and a fan favorite since season 1. People REALLY liked her, partially because she felt like a subversion of the usual romantic tropes. She was the rival love interest, but was also a genuinely good person, so Star didn't actually have much ground to stand on. She even hooked up with Marco during season 2, and was a vital part of Marco's character growth.

At the start of season 3, Marco ended up acting supremely OOC just for them to break up for the sake of Starco endgame, and it was just the first warning of the whole show falling apart for the sake of shipping bullshit. The whole lesbian thing happened at the end of S4, by which case everyone was already too burned by the show to care.

I'd argue Battle for Mewni, which is the season 2 finale, is the perfect stopping point. There's almost nothing worth watching in Season 3 outside of maybe Queen Eclipsa, who's a top tier design and character concept utterly squandered by the show's writing.

Depends where you’re at. I say that because it seems the only network/studio that still does original programming is Disney TVA as they have some new shows coming up. Which makes this

              >What is she up to now anyway. Feature films?

Agreed. Steven Universe is the only kids cartoon I’ve seen in recent years that actually felt like it was made with queer themes built into its storytelling. For all of the show’s many flaws, you can tell Rebecca Sugar had a specific vision and a story she wanted to tell. She wasn’t just putting her shipping fanfic to animation.

Her greatest downfall is that she became too self conscious and was worried that the fandom wouldn’t understand her work. She tried too hard to be a voice for everyone, when that’s simply impossible. Hence, her show began to spiral out of control. But, regardless of the show’s execution, you can tell she’s 100% sincere about her art.

The fact that pic related was passed by Disney just beacuse they refused to make the main character more likeable beacuse test audiences found the her unlikabe makes me think that all their other projects that have been passed by Netflix,Disney,CN have always insufferable leads.

The medieval period was a Catholic time, so people like her don't actually enjoy depicting the setting properly. One reason why she is incapable of getting her cartoon creation going despite all her privilege and connections

I read her webcomic The Glass Scientists and it wasted potential. You have a bunch of mad scientists in the Victorian Era and instead of focusing on weird gadgets or experiments, you're going to make the plot revolve around the interracial romance between the main lead and his broken buck.

          Anonymous

I remember reading it back in its early pages. It seemed promising to me cause of the setting and its inspirations. Doesn't help that I had an itch for Victorian Era stories at the time so I followed it for a while. I don't know if it's changed nowadays, but I remember feeling the Jekyll and Hyde stuff felt too "safe" to me. Hyde seemed more like a party guy instead of an outlet for Jekylls violent urges.
I know its a webcomic adaption so I can't expect it to be a perfect adaption since other characters got changed like Frankenstein. I think the references just felt more subdued for a story about mad scientists, so it wasn't my thing.

Racism and Mewmans=bad subplot, retconning the monsters being evil, Eclipsa being uwu so innocent, Star was totally merely pretending to be ditzy, no more Ludo, the ending

I really hate that people took this line at face value when it's immediately followed up by Star being a ditz and not knowing it. This was just a case of Star being an unreliable narrator.

          >I'm just pretending not to understand things!

Twitter moron that was a director for Star vs. the Forces of Evil and The Owl House. Word around the studio is that she directed the later seasons of the former.

      She's notorious for,
      1) Posting on twitter how she remained a virgin until college, then her first boyfriend gave her crabs and then dumped her. This is the person in charge of directing a shipping show such as Star vs. seasons 3 and 4.
      2) Prosecuting Seddm, a tumblr theorizer guy for Star vs., after he edited a screenshot from the show where Marco is pulling down the neck of his hoodie in frustration and Star is looking at him a bit lecherously. Seddm removed Marco's t-shirt in that screenshot, therefore Sabrina crusaded against him, calling him a pedophile and saying that her "lawyer boyfriend" would prosecute him.

Of course, Seddm never faced any charges, but lol imagine being such an unhinged c**t and getting the director's role for the shipping cartoon.

Season 1 and 2 were episodic comedies with wacky jokes and gags everywhere. Season 3 and 4 were season long story arcs that went full shipping drama and changed the whole monster part of the story to an analog of colonization and minorities being oppressed by Americans. And that whole story arc largely went nowhere because the storyboarders in charge of individual episodes were not on the same page and they kept spinning the narrative in different competing directions.

Season 2 started to introduce some dramatic elements and what seemed like long-form storytelling with Glossryk's book and Star's crush on Marco...and then these ideas were abandonned.

I was expecting more of these types of cancelations to continue. I think a lot of people were waiting for something huge to happen for years now to the industry. To think it would be a merger that would send so many shows onto the chopping block.

It's not amazing at all. David went and deleted a bunch of their bad shows that nobody likes, which they used for easy money and to hang out with their friends. Therefore, they hate him, and they will easily hate you for doing less.
Funniest thing is that these people in the industry will make a complete failure, make $150,000 doing so, and will go on Twitter and cry about how little they make. So glad that they're going through this and look forward to more in the future

The story so far, she had a development deal with Disney after working in The Owl House (season 1) which resulted in nothing. Then she moved to Netflix and landed a development deal as well which resulted in nothing. And now she was working for CN which resulted in nothing.

P+ doesn't have an original animation division, everything still goes through either Nick or MTV/Comedy Central (which have essentially merged on the content development front)
Sabrina would have to be smoking crack to think she could get her kind of show made at Nick so I doubt that'll happen

I mean look at Nefcy's deal with Nickelodeon from 2020 who haven't gotten a greenlight after 3 years.

Still wonder why Nefcy didn't ink a deal with Disney despite Star Vs bringing tons of money like The Houghton Brothers did..
