Given the fact Cinemaphilemblr trannies are the equivalent of pampered foster children I would think edgy teens are the least of my concerns ideologically
Yeah, but the original comic was extremely progressive as well, though there's actually way too much race swapping that results in poor casting choices like for Lucien/Lucienne
Gwendoline Christie for Lucifer is probably the most ridiculous choice of casting I've ever seen. Lucifer is literally said to be the most beautiful angel, and then we're met with, what was described in Game of Thrones (when it was good) as a fricking golem.
I have no problems with Gwendoline Christies acting but the choice of actor for the role is so massively off. I don't think Tom Elis would have worked either given his show was a complete bastardization of the source material and carries too much baggage.
I'm not up to the Hell episode yet but I'll take anyone but that c**t from Lucifer which absolutely butchered the source material.
The show is pretty decent apart from the grating gender/race swaps which seem to exist purely to antagonise the audience/fandom and break immersion. The worst one so far was the needless John/Johanna Constantine swap and of course she has to be a dyke and of course she has to have a Black person girlfriend because that really added a lot to the story.
>I'll take anyone but that c**t from Lucifer which absolutely butchered the source material.
Tom Elis is the least at fault for that portrayal of Lucifer. Tom Elis could have played the part very easily but the writers wanted a dogshit procedural cop drama. Ironically enough it felt like watching a dogshit seasonal anime that just follows the trends and ticked all the boxes.
And yeah, aside from the gender and race swapping which is.. honestly way to rampant given the source material was already very progressive even by todays standards, the show is pretty good. I'm impressed with Tom Sturridge's portrayal and I only have three tiny little gripes that keep me from saying his portrayal is literally perfect;
1. His mouth is too small but there's nothing he can do about that.
2. He's too young, Morpheus was middle-aged and that matched his actions with how reserved and composed he is.
3. In some of the situations where he needs to raise his voice, it feels a little too out of character with how much emotion he forces into the lines and shows on his face. I'd tone it down by around 15-20%
I watched the first episode and it seemed spooky and cool all the way until the rest of the season preview with Le quippy animal sidekick and generic modern fantasy designs and dialogue so I simply did not watch any more.
On episode 4 right now, the dr who girl is gay, and the kid in the begining is gay, but for netflix standards it's pretty tame, being gay it's not their entire character and you see them being gay for like 1min of screentime, although as i said im only on ep 4 for now
There is one episode where just about everyone is revealed to be gay. >Lesbian waiting in diner for her girlfriend >Waitress goes gay by the end >The cook is revealed to be gay and fricking the waitress's sonic >Cook then fricks the black guy who was straight two minutes ago >Just to round it out a young man reveals his into femdom and gets dommed by an older female Asian CEO
>A fanfilm made by amateurs is better then something on a netflix budget
Jesus.
not sure what they were going for, but in the 1980s scene (or 90s rather) the inn owner mentions to Hob that he's sold the place so they can build flats. Hob is dressed like a businessman so I thought he was going to buy the lot back and keep the inn , but when Dream finally shows up the place has been closed. but then the new inn is like around the corner. if they were trying to make it seem like Dream was regretful or something that he missed his meeting, they didn't really pull it off
I guess its fair. I mean the pub kept changing with the times, right? Pubs just die out nowadays
>Lucien is now a black woman >Lucifer is a woman. Why couldn't they had Lucifer and Maziken from the show they are better than who is in this >Constantine is a woman now, again Matt Ryan already plays him to perfection >Old man Tywin Lannister and his gay grandson capture Dream >The race/gender swapping and slow boring pace are making this absolutely unbearable to watch and I'm struggling to finish
>his gay grandson capture Dream
Books had that too >Lucifer is a woman
Bowie is dead. Its a shame they went with the hammy Christie instead of Tilda Swinton who would play it perfectly
Agree with all the rest. Apparently they cant use Constantije because israelite israelite abrams doesnt want to share him. Hence why he's out of Legends too
I watched the first episode and it seemed spooky and cool all the way until the rest of the season preview with Le quippy animal sidekick and generic modern fantasy designs and dialogue so I simply did not watch any more.
>Hating on based Matthew
Kys. Patton Oswald is a shit choice, but the audience needs matthew for exposition purposes
They do that anyways and blacks themselves hate shit so i always enjoy watching it since 9/10 times the actor himself is uncomfortable as frick.
Now Death being BLACKED does rustle me jimmies because she's like the one Endless that didn't change her appearance and it reeks of 'oh lets change the ONE thing everyone universally agreed was good'

I haven't got to death yet so I'm just commenting on what I've seen but honestly it doesn't surprise me they changed death as well. Either way its more Gay/Black washing bullshit
>Tilda Swinton who would play it perfectly
Yes, there was nothing androgynous about christie, she looks like an old woman. Tilda could had been perfect, frick even the euphoria troony would had done a better job.
They really didn't need to use the Constantine name if that's the case they could have done what Doom Patrol did and use another character that's basically Constantine in all but name.
Are you REALLY gonna cry about Constantine when his whole character was butchered and disintegrated when Vertigo titles got included into the main DC continuity. You are crying over a ghost of a character. What Sandman did with him is far more respectful compared to what he's been forced into in modern DC publications.
The only thing that is relevant is the portrayal in this adaptation in relation to the source material.
They didn't need to make the character a woman, they didn't need to make the character a dyke and they didn't need to make her girlfriend a Black person.
Those three additions added nothing positive to the story, all they did was remind everyone that Hollywood is full of clinically insane israeli lunatics with a constant need to push a political/social agenda and zero creativity to produce new content that anyone wants to watch containing said agenda.
That's why they push this shit via beloved franchises, because they know their fans will give it a shot regardless because they're desperate to see the characters brought to life and everything they try to create from scratch that pushes the agenda sinks like a stone.

>They didn't need to make the character a woman
They did to reuse a actress lol. You are seeing some hidden meaning in a budgetary decision.
Yeah and her great great great grandmother shows up in ep 6. Netflix could have paid for Matt Ryan or Tom Ellis or 1000 other better choices than the constant race/gender swapping they did in this
It's a work-around the John Constantine character rights that they don't own, but let's not pretend that using Johanna Constantine was chosen because she's a faithful character from the comics, she was chosen because she's a woman and they can push their (gay) agenda.
>canonically bisexual,
Overblown in the current era. The way he 'came out' was saying he fricked the occasional bloke and didn't frick a single man on-panel until an AMERICAN writer, who everyone agrees wrote the worst era, made him frick onscreen. Ever since the original run got cancelled he's being fricking almost nothing but men.
I would bet good money the gender swapped Constantine was a mandate by WB. Weren't they planning to make a new Constantine movie around the time this went into production?
considering how pozzed the source material was for the time and how the author has apologized since for not making it pozzed enough? I don't even want to imagine
Yes. They have one episode where Death shows up but her segment lasts like 15 minutes. The rest of the episode is the Gadling plot, him meeting Dream and seeing each other through the centuries.
Only significant change here is that because they kept Dream trapped longer he doesn't show up to their 1980s meeting and Hob thinks he's been stood up. Then Dream shows up the next time.
not next time as in next century, I meant to write that he shows up later unnanounced. also the pub was sold and demolished to build some flats there, but there are signs pointing to a new pub, which Dream follows and finds Hob there.
not sure what they were going for, but in the 1980s scene (or 90s rather) the inn owner mentions to Hob that he's sold the place so they can build flats. Hob is dressed like a businessman so I thought he was going to buy the lot back and keep the inn , but when Dream finally shows up the place has been closed. but then the new inn is like around the corner. if they were trying to make it seem like Dream was regretful or something that he missed his meeting, they didn't really pull it off
Pozzed as frick, and also in a very moronic way
Consider the following: if they actually wanted a racialized Death, they could have gone for a cute japanese girl, which looks a lot like her normal design
but no
nigress it is
I think anglos are absolutely obsessed with Black folks.
Besides that, its as pozzed as you might expect from a Netflix adaptation from a woke britcuck.
More offensive than the blackwashing is the simplified writing actually.
Corinthian wasn’t there to explain to the old man what dream was.
Lucien didn’t Chekhov’s pistol “muh waking world”.
Dream wasn’t after the Corinthian when he was captured.
Somehow Gaiman managed to make it worse than even his level on a rewrite, wtf.
death is black and they switched Constantines female ancestor and Constantines places in the story i think
it's a bit woke, but so far the story is captivating enough for me to enjoy the ride, nice change of pace from all the other shit people are adapting these days. if you have no relationship with the original comic i'd say give it a try, but i can also sympathize with the comicgays for seeing another adaption get the hollywood treatment
>open Cinemaphile >see a bunch of threads about a classic rebooted with the worst casting imaginable >it's a fricking ~~*Netflix*~~ original
Every. Fricking. Time.
Well that makes it personal, eternal waking deserved then.
Preferred the other version where it was a matter of duty to frick his captor’s son, the rigidity of code by which Dream existed by.
Episode 5 >lesbian comes in restaurant reeeing about her missing gf >guy comes in for coffee takes her seat as she was in back calling about her gf >she comes out guy offers her back her seat rude lesbian switches into c**t mode >"Im Mark by the way" >"and I'm Gay so"
For fricks sake not only are there an endless stream of gays but they are absolutely insufferable, at least that's true to life I guess
The first sentence did happen in the books. Iirc her unseen girlfriend becomes a MAJOR character later on for something disconnected from this entirely
I only watch Netflix shows because it's a great way to practice foreign languages (dubs and subs abound in most shows). Literally the only good use these shit-stained streaming platforms have anymore.
Canon to the comics. Maybe the major difference is that in tone the comics always treated it as a deviance to a lesser or greater degree, even if sympathetically, but it doesn't really have the same punch nowadays when it's all been normalized.
Scene wasn’t canon to the comics, instead of accident the husband wheels through the binding here, pauses and nods, then his husband gets utterly fricked.
My bet is that in the Game of You adaptation when Wanda dies, instead of Barbie just changing the gravestone she'll go into a rant against Wanda's mum. And everyone will clap! And the whole God calling the troony a man bit will be removed too probably
But that implies Netflix had the guts to kill a trannie.
The scene where they’ve aged, and are talking to Dream?
You saw that boundary on the ground? The binding, like how pentagrams are supposed to work..?
Dude put the wheel of the wheelchair through it intentionally. Knowing the consequences for his bf.
Pretty dumb, no?
>Intentionally
What the frick.
Kinda funny how thats not even 'empowering' at all and just disgusting

Since you seem to know the comics better than the apologist you're talking to was the comics as gay as this?
Sandman had gays everywhere. A lot more dykes than gays though. I read it as the world becoming worse because Dream was imprisoned. Hence the homosexualry everywhere.
Hey at least we had a god telling a troony he would never be a woman
Can you post this again in English, please?

So another fairy tale place where still not an actual woman
I actually liked this scene a lot. The black guy in the cult stood out a lot, so i recognized him and that it was his kid fairly quickly.
I thought that was a clever casting choice to visually show the connection between them capturing Dream and causing the sleeping sickness.
Ep 6 and Dream is meeting a guy he made effectively immortal every 100 years in a bar from 1389 - 1989. Dream isn't showing up cause we know he's been captured
Not really. I mean the aftermath is really all they showed except for the guy cutting off his fingers, the waitress burning her arms and blinding herself. Maybe I'm desensitized but wasn't that gory to me
2 years ago

Wow so they didn't show each person's death? Gory as it was, it was humanizing too...

Yeah they kinda skipped over that and just showed the aftermath really
I understand black death, as the D's change appearance to match who see they, but her looks doesn't match.
Like...why not the same goth straight hair and clothes????
I've met black goth girls and they used to look good with the full goth attire and hair etc
It's shit like this that time and again makes me question why everything NEEDS a live action adaptation. The fact of the matter is, comics and animation will always have the advantage of not being constrained by the limitations that always seem to fail live action.
I've not read the comics, but is Dream really this fricking moronic in the comics too? >Is trapped >Abused son offers to let them out if they don't kill the son and their partner. >Keeps offering this for 70 years >Finally gets free and punishes said son >Now hass a decaying kingdom
And for what? Because Dream's moronic ass couldn't "Trust" them? What the flying frick did the stupid ass entity think would happen if they said yes and was let out? There was zero reason for Dream to even care if he could trust them or not.
Being petty for shooting the bird companion would've been one thing, but the stated reason was that Dream couldn't "Trust them" which matters shit, zil, nilch. And due to their own stupidity, their kingdom is now f ucked.
tbh yes, dream spends the first few volumes being a pissy little b***h about everything. talking to his various siblings make him realize he's been a b***h and sets out to right some of his wrongs
Dream is pretty fricking moronic, yes. His biggest downfall is that his moronic-tier level of pride. Every bad thing that bites Dream in his ass is pride-related.
The whole 'couldn't trust them' thing sounds like a cope, I'd say comic!Dream was too proud to make a deal with those nobody magicians.
LOL >Death come for Violin player >"Before I go I have to do something" >"says some israelite prayer"
Dream is pretty fricking moronic, yes. His biggest downfall is that his moronic-tier level of pride. Every bad thing that bites Dream in his ass is pride-related.

[...]
leave please. It was in the books.
That makes more sense then, I just assumed that an ageless entity would be a bit smarter and I felt like the "Deal" was a pretty easy one since there was no way that it could be a trap or backfire on Dream, so it felt moronic when he declined and then went "Do you know how it felt to be trapped?" and punished the other guy whom has been trying to offer release for 70 years.
But if it's a character flaw and one that has consequence and is cause for shit happening, that's good.
They added the bird, this version wouldn’t have worked without it.
The son had to pay for killing Dreams’ raven, like a law kind of thing. Dream couldn’t take the deal.
Though it did open a new plot hole, raven could and should have gone to get help from, like, anyone. Particularly another of the endless, but anyone would have done.
In the comics the gay son basically offered Dream the same deal his father did. And even then Dream only said No then said nothing for another 50 years.
Both father and son are abusive buttholes in the comic. The son being sympathetic in the series just made Dream look like a fricking moron for refusing to be let out.
Ep 7 started. Don't know who that trans looking non binary thing was at the end of Episode 6 I'm guessing desire which is hilarious to me cause who would desire that thing
The amazing part lost on all the children ITT is how unbelievably "pozzed" sandman was for the time and now nu-fans wish it was "only" as pozzed as the original material
Jesus this gay groomer shit is horrible. Ep 7 >Fat Guy that looks like the pedo in Sleepaway Camp asks his two friends at the table now old they think the young waiter is while he makes disgusting noises with his mouth >female friend "16, 17... Too old for you" > Fat Gay dude "Ooohh he looks younger" makes even more gross face

That said, the people pushing for this shit control the federal reserve. They'll never run out of money, it really doesn't matter what you do as long as it's anything short of [redacted sentence]
The thing about gaiman is that he worked around frames of censorship, he was creative thanks to the limits that were imposed by editorial. Now instead of editorial asking him if he is sure about something he has netflix israelites telling him to do anything he wants, a progressive old israelite now is being pushed by netflix woke israelites into doing moronic shit.
they're also setting up lucifer as the main antagonist bent on destroying dream. but doesn't he literally give up and quits the next time morpheus visits?
Read the book. Lucifer giving Dream they throne of Hell is what causes Dream's eventual death. Lucifer does it because they know it will destroy Dream.
Lucifer does it in a way that pushes dream to abandon his principles, dream could have fought off the furies if he got off his high horse but Dream is stubborn and allows himself to suffer the consequences of his actions because that's who he is.
Yeah, he's pretty much had to be saved by a bird, talked down to by his black sister death and everyone in dream world knows black elf Lucien really runs things
I had no expectations but I still got disappointed. Why is it so hard to do movies/series of comics? The story is already there and you can even use the original as storyboard. Why shit all over it?
So i read 20 or so chapters of the comic. No idea why most of you are crying, the source material is already woke as frick, ofc the show will follow suit
What it is about it that makes it all feel so "cheap"? The Witcher felt the same. it's not just the crappy CGI but it also has something to do with how there's music playing CONSTANTLY for some reason. and the acting/dialogue feels so minimal and contrived, you can tell the actors are just there to read the lines and get paid.
Perhaps, “inauthentic”?
The story isn’t given time to develop as a story should, like Lucien giving the game away with her first line, but the surfaces are supposed to make up for lack of story structure?
Idk, it bugged me how bad the writing was.
>watched first episode >set in 1900s England >first character to speak is black >half of the supporting cast is black
This is going to be the least of this series' problem, isn't it.
>When will the cancellation announcement be?
It's a "limited series" so they not only save face but pretend you are missing out if you don't watch before they quietly remove the show.
it's even more pozzed than the source material. It seems that they really can't help themselves, there's never a point where they go "ok it's poised enough". No, every adaptation, sequel and even new story has to be more pozzed than anything that came before.
Really it reveals the pornographic masturbatory nature of the entertainment industry, how the morons churning it out need a higher and higher fix because they can't get off to more vanilla stuff.
>I'll take anyone but that c**t from Lucifer which absolutely butchered the source material.

And they still tried to make her the "good" person considering the exchange with the waitress. Nah I stand by my 3/10. Visually stunning, David Thewlis was good, interesting story that unfortunately got ruined by race swapping, gender bending and "The Message"
Wasnt expecting much since the comic was woke shit, but god damn. They murdered Dreams character and removed interesting things like Constantines ex houses of horrors for shitty lesbians
Ok, so I've made it through all 10 eps. Final thoughts
At the end the Nightmare he banished and told "you are what you were born to be" he brings back with shiny homosexual butterfly wings. Yeah certainly not an allegory for trannies
Don't get if "Johanna Constantine" had such a limited appearance why casting a man for John and still have Johanna in the past was a problem.
Lucifer as the ugliest hulking woman in Westeros makes 0 sense. Should have got someone else but looks like we are stuck with her for the next limited series
If this was suppose to be about Sandman yet again the main white character takes a back seat and we get near 95% gay couples or blackwashed characters.
Thank god for good weed that's the only way I made it through this shit!
Pozzed, Woke, Garbage but visually stunning. There's you allegory. No matter how much lipstick you put on a pig its still a pig. Don't worry I'm sure one of the homosexuals involved in this would still frick it. 3/10
>why casting a man for John
Because John had a whole series which was so badly received and he got reduced to a Arrow cameo. They said frick it instead of playing into any latter attempts to tie this to CW trash.
>DC wouldn't let him be used.
We'll see how they feel if this turns out to be beloved by the masses at large. I have a feeling that under the leadership of the guy who cancelled half of their finished films because they were radioactive, they'll pull a Sony and calmly offer a joint sharing of the rights for a second or third season.
Too late: Constatine had his appearance already, I believe.

The stakes just don't really feel serious
It's completely exceeds expectations and also looks much better than in the clips they've released. Still, doubt I'd advice anyone to touch it. Just feels like an immoral thing to do.
Well maybe I'm exaggerating them a bit but
His mistress runs away with his black friend and the black friend is the one who trades with the demon
The black friend eventually dies
I remember the patheticness of the guy, he's way more dignified in the show
I haven't gotten up to it yet but I remember the comic style of the cain and abel scenes were very distinct, it just didn't get reproduced well in the show
Why is his head a literal square?
I think he's good for Dream. He's got something off about his face.
Yeah
non. it's just super boring
>people still unironically say pozzed
lmao, i forget this sites full of teenagers sometimes
lol he kind of looks like
ALL THE OTHER KIDS WITH THEIR PUMPED UP KICKS
He's Morbin
>unironically defending this pozzed garbage
i know kids like you are homosexuals these days but this is ridiculous
/pol/cels are still in their edgy 15 year old phases
Given the fact Cinemaphilemblr trannies are the equivalent of pampered foster children I would think edgy teens are the least of my concerns ideologically
Poxxed is what all the oldgay Cinemaphile heads are saying.
5 episodes in and everyone is gay? What the frick
And yeah, aside from the gender and race swapping which is.. honestly way to rampant given the source material was already very progressive even by todays standards, the show is pretty good. I'm impressed with Tom Sturridge's portrayal and I only have three tiny little gripes that keep me from saying his portrayal is literally perfect;
>Ellis has two Ls
>honestly way too* rampant
I need to stop acting like an ESL at my age.
thank you anon
Lucien is now Lucienne, a black woman.
>a black woman is the undyingly loyal subordinate of the white lead
What did they mean by this
For Netflix? About 5/10 on the poz scale.
Nah bro its definitely 10/10 on the poz scale. It should be wearing a yamaka and rubbing its hands it so pozzed
It's written by Kneel Gayman
You do the math
(The gay math)
i'll pass
i'm bad at math and don't fancy a dick up my ass
I watched the first episode and it seemed spooky and cool all the way until the rest of the season preview with Le quippy animal sidekick and generic modern fantasy designs and dialogue so I simply did not watch any more.
Thanks for the reminder, watching now.
On episode 4 right now, the dr who girl is gay, and the kid in the begining is gay, but for netflix standards it's pretty tame, being gay it's not their entire character and you see them being gay for like 1min of screentime, although as i said im only on ep 4 for now
That's Constantine and while I liked her in Dr Who she sucks in this.
There is one episode where just about everyone is revealed to be gay.
>Lesbian waiting in diner for her girlfriend
>Waitress goes gay by the end
>The cook is revealed to be gay and fricking the waitress's sonic
>Cook then fricks the black guy who was straight two minutes ago
>Just to round it out a young man reveals his into femdom and gets dommed by an older female Asian CEO
>A fanfilm made by amateurs is better then something on a netflix budget
Jesus.
I guess its fair. I mean the pub kept changing with the times, right? Pubs just die out nowadays
>fricking the waitress's sonic
i realize this was autocorrect but still
>young man reveals his into femdom and gets dommed by an older female Asian CEO
giwtwm
>Lucien is now a black woman
>Lucifer is a woman. Why couldn't they had Lucifer and Maziken from the show they are better than who is in this
>Constantine is a woman now, again Matt Ryan already plays him to perfection
>Old man Tywin Lannister and his gay grandson capture Dream
>The race/gender swapping and slow boring pace are making this absolutely unbearable to watch and I'm struggling to finish
>his gay grandson capture Dream
Books had that too
>Lucifer is a woman
Bowie is dead. Its a shame they went with the hammy Christie instead of Tilda Swinton who would play it perfectly
Agree with all the rest. Apparently they cant use Constantije because israelite israelite abrams doesnt want to share him. Hence why he's out of Legends too
>Hating on based Matthew
Kys. Patton Oswald is a shit choice, but the audience needs matthew for exposition purposes
Was his grandson gay in the books with a mixed race man?
Nah, a blonde twink. But the grandfather literally got cucked by a black lawyer in the books
So they threw in more race swapping gay was my point there
They do that anyways and blacks themselves hate shit so i always enjoy watching it since 9/10 times the actor himself is uncomfortable as frick.
Wut? I don’t remember blacked cucking in the books.
Burgess' lawyer ran off with his wife, remember? He was black Thats how the mask got sold to a demon in trade of protection
>Tilda Swinton who would play it perfectly
Yes, there was nothing androgynous about christie, she looks like an old woman. Tilda could had been perfect, frick even the euphoria troony would had done a better job.
Don't summon the Shafergay
>Lucien is now a black woman
>Constantine is a woman
are you fricking kidding me
Sad times we live in
I wish I was
is a woman
NETFLIX DOESN'T HAVE THE COPYRIGHT OF JOHN CONSTANTINE FOR FRICK SAKE, HOW MANY TIMES IT NEEDS TO BE CLARIFY
They really didn't need to use the Constantine name if that's the case they could have done what Doom Patrol did and use another character that's basically Constantine in all but name.
How much more impactful would it have been for Matt Ryan to show up doing all that magic shit. Instead we get "Johanna" lol wtf
Then we get Johanna in the past too! By god their gonna get their money's worth of Jenna Coleman
Johanna Constantine was in the comics, she's like johns greatgreagreatgreat grandmother
Yeah and her great great great grandmother shows up in ep 6. Netflix could have paid for Matt Ryan or Tom Ellis or 1000 other better choices than the constant race/gender swapping they did in this
oh...havent seen the series because I like the comics. that sucks tho
It's a work-around the John Constantine character rights that they don't own, but let's not pretend that using Johanna Constantine was chosen because she's a faithful character from the comics, she was chosen because she's a woman and they can push their (gay) agenda.
>a woman was chosen to push the gay agenda
>Casting woman as Constantine is pushing the gay agenda
You are aware that John Constantine in canonically bisexual, aren't you?
You are aware that John Constantine is a man right
There is nothing more straight than two pretty girls kissing. Prove me wrong.
That's gay for them anon, you're being moronic
Johanna Constantine was in Sandman tho.
As an ancestor of who dumbass
For two seconds
don't fricking act like they didn't look at Johanna and say "Great, now she can have a girlfriend!" instead of gender swapping the ex as well
Not that anon but what does that have to do with him being a Magician/detective? You know people don't give a shit right?
>canonically bisexual,
Overblown in the current era. The way he 'came out' was saying he fricked the occasional bloke and didn't frick a single man on-panel until an AMERICAN writer, who everyone agrees wrote the worst era, made him frick onscreen. Ever since the original run got cancelled he's being fricking almost nothing but men.
So no, I don't view him as bisexual
>Lucifer is a woman.
I think it was a reference to this version from 2005 which is retroactively DC as well.
That wasn't Lucifer that was Gabriel
Still felt related as they're both manly looking women playing genderless angels.
No you were wrong and you can't admit it cause you're a gay
Same niche for both actresses well Gwendolyn wishes she had that kind of career but still. She didn't suck all that much.
Nice backpedaling
Useful skill.
>Lucifer is a woman. Why couldn't they had Lucifer and Maziken from the show they are better than who is in this
Frick off
No U
Agreed. Everyone who was in that show should be flayed alive along with anyone who enjoyed it.
I would bet good money the gender swapped Constantine was a mandate by WB. Weren't they planning to make a new Constantine movie around the time this went into production?
Probably but seeing as how that isn't getting made seems like a dumb move now
WB making dumb decisions with their DC properties? I'm shocked.
Kek I know right..hopefully based new boss corrects all this shit
I could tell they changed Lucien's race and gender and I never read the source material.
>I'm struggling to finish
It was release today, stop the cap
And I'm watching all eps straight through so stfu bussin ass broccoli headed zoomer gay
considering how pozzed the source material was for the time and how the author has apologized since for not making it pozzed enough? I don't even want to imagine
I wonder if Wanda(?) gets to travel the moon road this time.
that and I guarantee their won't be any abusive lesbians
That's how ep 5 went. The gay cook was le bad but the rude butch lesbo was le good.
A piece of media can't have the AIDS
Havent watched yet.
Does the show have Hob Gadling? Or is my theory about Johanna Constantine replacing Hob correct?
Joanna is there to play Constantine's role in the present
Not sure how they are going to do Thermidor
>No Pub
Am I autistic for hating that?
But I'm glad based Hob is in the show. Might just watch that episode to see if I'll like the rest.
not sure what they were going for, but in the 1980s scene (or 90s rather) the inn owner mentions to Hob that he's sold the place so they can build flats.
Somehow Gaiman managed to make it worse than even his level on a rewrite, wtf.
death is black and they switched Constantines female ancestor and Constantines places in the story i think
it's a bit woke, but so far the story is captivating enough for me to enjoy the ride, nice change of pace from all the other shit people are adapting these days. if you have no relationship with the original comic i'd say give it a try, but i can also sympathize with the comicgays for seeing another adaption get the hollywood treatment
ah yeah, i forgot one minor complaint, patton fricking oswalt as the fricking raven, takes me completely out of the atmosphere, i hate that c**t.
I forgot that too, can't stand this fricking dude
Appleologize.
And there it is. Every. Fricking.Time
>open Cinemaphile
>see a bunch of threads about a classic rebooted with the worst casting imaginable
>it's a fricking ~~*Netflix*~~ original
Every. Fricking. Time.
Well that makes it personal, eternal waking deserved then.
Preferred the other version where it was a matter of duty to frick his captor’s son, the rigidity of code by which Dream existed by.
…Idk.
Episode 5
>lesbian comes in restaurant reeeing about her missing gf
>guy comes in for coffee takes her seat as she was in back calling about her gf
>she comes out guy offers her back her seat rude lesbian switches into c**t mode
>"Im Mark by the way"
>"and I'm Gay so"
For fricks sake not only are there an endless stream of gays but they are absolutely insufferable, at least that's true to life I guess
The first sentence did happen in the books. Iirc her unseen girlfriend becomes a MAJOR character later on for something disconnected from this entirely
isn't dream several millennia old, why does he talk as if 100 years were a long stretch of time for him
Time passes no more quickly for the Endless than it does for us. He says this in the comic.
I do like David Thewlis character and it is a good looking show but man is it pozzed
Every couple is either gay or interracial. I am not even joking, I am at episode 5 and I already lost count.
So you're on same Ep I am, and yeah you're right. Listening to this lesbo whine is grating on my nerves
I only watch Netflix shows because it's a great way to practice foreign languages (dubs and subs abound in most shows). Literally the only good use these shit-stained streaming platforms have anymore.
>every couple is either gay
Pretty true to the comic.
And the Black person intentionally lets him out.
Bravo Netflix, bravo.
First episode already has a gay couple, and the fact that they're old only makes it even more repulsive
Real good gay love story there.
Since you seem to know the comics better than the apologist you're talking to was the comics as gay as this?
Mainly there’s a tone problem with this adaptation imo, the narrator feels patronising.
That raises the gay rating, for me.
In terms of literal sexuality, there were non-trad relationships. Not so much a focus though.
Anyway I’m off to Cinemaphile, they’ll have a thread up, plenty I’ve missed.
Current writers always come off as patronising.
>Intentionally
What the frick.
Kinda funny how thats not even 'empowering' at all and just disgusting
So why isn't Desire black?
>God
Not christian god: THE MOON.
God as in a god. Moon god in this case.
I don't think they'll change that bit, as it is important to the idea that transfolx are oppresses by the system.
What kinda gobbledyasiatic are you saying man
It is integral to Wanda's arc to show that official society (and ancient gods) are stuffy and uptight and don't accept her as a woman.
Well if she's trans she's not a woman so
I'm just saying: I think they'll keep the moon bit in.
I always thought Wanda didn't accept herself either.
Can you post this again in English, please?
Sandman had gays everywhere. A lot more dykes than gays though. I read it as the world becoming worse because Dream was imprisoned. Hence the homosexualry everywhere.
Hey at least we had a god telling a troony he would never be a woman
Based
Except that person gets to have a female soul in the afterlife.
Checkmate god.
So another fairy tale place where still not an actual woman
The scene where they’ve aged, and are talking to Dream?
You saw that boundary on the ground? The binding, like how pentagrams are supposed to work..?
Dude put the wheel of the wheelchair through it intentionally. Knowing the consequences for his bf.
Pretty dumb, no?
They couldn’t even get the punishment of “eternal waking” right.
Eternal sleep? Uninteresting.
So, shit writing changes, shit blackwashing, shit Dream needing shit explained to him, shit Corinthian.
Imma bounce. This is shit.
…And to think I was prepared to give it chance.
I forgot the time period this takes place in, but here is your average Brit from that time period
I actually liked this scene a lot. The black guy in the cult stood out a lot, so i recognized him and that it was his kid fairly quickly.
I thought that was a clever casting choice to visually show the connection between them capturing Dream and causing the sleeping sickness.
Wow, more Ep 5
>Cook in the restaurant goes into detail about fricking his gf's son while she's passed out
Disgusting
lol I love this play by play of the diner by a n00b
Go suck cox somewhere else like Reddit
Are you still watching? What's happening now?
Ep 6 and Dream is meeting a guy he made effectively immortal every 100 years in a bar from 1389 - 1989. Dream isn't showing up cause we know he's been captured
Wait so the bloodbath already happened?
You mean at the Diner?
Yeah. Was it gory and horrific?
Not really. I mean the aftermath is really all they showed except for the guy cutting off his fingers, the waitress burning her arms and blinding herself. Maybe I'm desensitized but wasn't that gory to me
Wow so they didn't show each person's death? Gory as it was, it was humanizing too...
Yeah they kinda skipped over that and just showed the aftermath really
And if you're wondering why im still watching its either this, play CK3 which sucks on console or play Elden Ring for the 5th time... Yea I'm bored
Did anyone else notice how every couple in this show so far is an interracial black/mixed x white couple?
yes, and the majority are also homosexual couples
it gets even worse
I believe it
>yes, and the majority are also homosexual couples
sounds like an accurate reflection of today tbqh
>2% of the population
>majority
Pick one homosexual
Yep it's True, rose is a Black person
That's great casting choice, though. She looks just like I pictured her when reading the comic.
Maybe picture less Black folk
> dimwit doesn't understand a joke
>pretending to be moronic and phoneposting
I understand black death, as the D's change appearance to match who see they, but her looks doesn't match.
Like...why not the same goth straight hair and clothes????
I've met black goth girls and they used to look good with the full goth attire and hair etc
OH NONONONONONONOO
>Tfw art by the INKER, not the artist, mogs you.
It's shit like this that time and again makes me question why everything NEEDS a live action adaptation. The fact of the matter is, comics and animation will always have the advantage of not being constrained by the limitations that always seem to fail live action.
hahaha what the frick
couldn't they have done the same thing they did in pic related
>So death wears an Ankh, talks down to Dream and plays the "Magical Black" role
Wtf
I've not read the comics, but is Dream really this fricking moronic in the comics too?
>Is trapped
>Abused son offers to let them out if they don't kill the son and their partner.
>Keeps offering this for 70 years
>Finally gets free and punishes said son
>Now hass a decaying kingdom
The whole 'couldn't trust them' thing sounds like a cope, I'd say comic!Dream was too proud to make a deal with those nobody magicians.
leave please.
Dream is the edgy autist of the family in the comic too.
It's an adaptional change.
In the comics the gay son basically offered Dream the same deal his father did. And even then Dream only said No then said nothing for another 50 years.
Dream's an autist. homosexual makes imaginary friends and everything.
>makes imaginary friends
I guess in a manner of speaking, yeah.
Both father and son are abusive buttholes in the comic. The son being sympathetic in the series just made Dream look like a fricking moron for refusing to be let out.
They had to cut lot of cameos because the copyright c**ts of DC didn't want to share a single character, but they worked around the constrain good
Tom Sturridge is a good morpheus, it's worth it
LOL
>Death come for Violin player
>"Before I go I have to do something"
>"says some israelite prayer"
Definitely pozzed
where can i find scans of this? and when will Cinemaphile get a nyaa equivalent so i can stop begging
I didnt understand anything that was happening in the trailer.
The MC tongue kisses his black boyfriend in episode 2
Ep 7 started. Don't know who that trans looking non binary thing was at the end of Episode 6 I'm guessing desire which is hilarious to me cause who would desire that thing
Desire was like that in the books too.
The fact that you ask "is it pozzed?" means that you will not like it. I recommend you look into suicide instead.
The amazing part lost on all the children ITT is how unbelievably "pozzed" sandman was for the time and now nu-fans wish it was "only" as pozzed as the original material
Go munch on black female elf lucien's minge
Didn’t matter, the writing was good.
This, the writing is bad.
There comes a point at which it is too much. That point was passed years ago.
So it's good as long as you can get over the casting?
no.
Jesus this gay groomer shit is horrible. Ep 7
>Fat Guy that looks like the pedo in Sleepaway Camp asks his two friends at the table now old they think the young waiter is while he makes disgusting noises with his mouth
>female friend "16, 17... Too old for you"
> Fat Gay dude "Ooohh he looks younger" makes even more gross face
This is literally groomer tier
Lmao are you baiting? Are you serious?
Are you watching at 3x speed?
Dead serious man I just saw it. 18:20- 20 minute mark Ep 7 see for yourself
>a perverted fat serial killer is portrayed as a perverted fat serial killer
>"Wtf is this groomer shit?!?!?"
Please ask your guardian to restrict your internet access in the future, please.
Its ok we know you're a homosexual but there's no pride parade for you here
Are you really so fricking dumb that you think showing a fat gross pedo as a serial killer is grooming?
How do you manage to use a computer?
Your mom turns it on for me after I turn her on with my fat pink mast.
Go finish the fricking books Martin. One would think all that money you got for selling out would make you not so jealous of other authors getting proper adaptations.
>proper adaptations
>Netflix Sandman
Many Keks MonkeyPoxMan
Stay mad, you fat frick.
Projection seeing as I'm laughing at you right now and your keyboard is exploding in clouds of cheeto dust
You are gonna have a meltdown once you see the convention.
At this point not really, I'll be disappointed if the cast of this shit doesn't contract monkey pox
you're beyond moronic. I don't even feel like bothering trying to prove how stupid you are
Yet you keep typing trying to defend this homosexualry. Go on Groomer
that was my first post in the thread, moron. there's nothing to defend, because what you're claiming to be there, isn't there. I'm afraid your brain is fricked beyond belief
Ok groomer
have a nice day, twitter NPC
Go wrestle an aids patient in a thorn bush while he has monkey pox
lmao no one is defending Funland you absolute moron.
Except the angry gays in this thread defending it but yeah ok
Just watch it and stop making premature judgements. You have literally no idea what the frick is going on.
Or you're baiting, in which case, funny.
Already said I'm bored so giving a play by play from someone who hasn't seen the graphic novel and nah whoever made this shit is baiting
you are somehow trying to make it sound like an ugly fat frick making lewd commentary on underage teens is somehow a sellable grooming tactic that will convince the public towards that goal. get hour hands off the keyboard you low IQ insect, you're too dumb to actually deserve breathing
Nice soliloquy Longfellow, enjoy your aids
>doesn't even bother with a proper comeback
how does it feel to be the "dumb moron" in your circle of friends, while everyone talks behind your back about the moronic shit you say
That your self titled film project? Netflix will make it you're certainly gay enough for them
Heh.
You're spoiling it, anon.
Are you stupid on purpose or is it genetic?
Are you a groomer on purpose or is it genetic
60% of the cast is Black folk. Dee actually not only lets the woman live but gives her his talisman ( moronic much ? )
Every relationship is interracial or gay
Have I mentioned Black folk ? Wtf mate. It's so full of Black folk.
Triumvirate of Hell is just 2 interracial dykes.
SO MANY Black folk SOOOOOOOO MANY Black folk
>he’s the one who likes all our pretty songs
>and he likes to sing along
>and he likes to shoot his gun
>but he knows not what it means
>knows not what it means
you guys are funding this
inb4 "i pirated"
you are a moron stop talking about this GARBAGE online for free
I let half of all Netflix series play muted in the background, then give them thumbs down.
That said, the people pushing for this shit control the federal reserve. They'll never run out of money, it really doesn't matter what you do as long as it's anything short of [redacted sentence]
i mean the original comic is already fricking pozzed
the real question is "can you make something gayer than the sandman?"
gaiman made american gods with a Black mc, isn't that enough
Why must they race change sandman characters?
The thing about gaiman is that he worked around frames of censorship, he was creative thanks to the limits that were imposed by editorial. Now instead of editorial asking him if he is sure about something he has netflix israelites telling him to do anything he wants, a progressive old israelite now is being pushed by netflix woke israelites into doing moronic shit.
And now somehow we are watching the adventures of Super Niglet Sandman..Idk what I missed while I was having a shit
>pozzed
What does this mean?
Full of subversive propaganda pushed by the israelites
How bad is it?
If I have acces to a netflix account should I pirate?
it's not a cowboy bebop type disaster, but it's also not as good as what it could've been given the source material
Post I found on the money from Cinemaphile, the writing is bad.
Maybe you aren’t wrong, I made it through a whole episode of this before deciding it was unwatchable, bebop and it was half an episode.
they're also setting up lucifer as the main antagonist bent on destroying dream. but doesn't he literally give up and quits the next time morpheus visits?
Read the book. Lucifer giving Dream they throne of Hell is what causes Dream's eventual death. Lucifer does it because they know it will destroy Dream.
Lucifer does it in a way that pushes dream to abandon his principles, dream could have fought off the furies if he got off his high horse but Dream is stubborn and allows himself to suffer the consequences of his actions because that's who he is.
Apparently they made Morpheus a dumbass who had to be saved by Matthew (goddamn Paton Oswalt bird) in the word game with Lucifer. That's... something.
So teenage Rose Walker's best friend is some middle aged man homosexual. Yeah not groomer material at all
>the owner of the B&B they are staying at while looking for Rose's brother
>Her best friend
Yeah cause its totally normal for a B&B owner to help you look for your brother. Idiot
So i read 20 or so chapters of the comic. No idea why most of you are crying, the source material is already woke as frick, ofc the show will follow suit
>source material is already woke as frick
and this shit still manages to be worse
Its impressive how its never good enough for these people. Even when they have what they want, they have to push for more
very
from the get go
I'm watching the first episode now
What it is about it that makes it all feel so "cheap"? The Witcher felt the same. it's not just the crappy CGI but it also has something to do with how there's music playing CONSTANTLY for some reason. and the acting/dialogue feels so minimal and contrived, you can tell the actors are just there to read the lines and get paid.
Perhaps, “inauthentic”?
The story isn’t given time to develop as a story should, like Lucien giving the game away with her first line, but the surfaces are supposed to make up for lack of story structure?
Idk, it bugged me how bad the writing was.
>fates
>2 old white woman
>1 young black one
You cant make this shit up
>white
will never listen to you gays ever again. you have turd for eyes. kys homosexual.
LOL (Black) Rose brother is named Jed
>Well lemme tell y'all a story bout a Black person named Jed
>Poor welfare monkey barely kept his mouth fed
>watched first episode
>set in 1900s England
>first character to speak is black
>half of the supporting cast is black
This is going to be the least of this series' problem, isn't it.
Oh goy, I mean boy. You're in for a ride.
You're in for a big black gay ride on the shlomo homosexual express
wait until you get to the troon and drag queen characters. oh and the dykes.
One episode is about dream visiting England every 100 years starting at 14th century, and all the people are white until like 18th century.
When will the cancellation announcement be?
>When will the cancellation announcement be?
It's a "limited series" so they not only save face but pretend you are missing out if you don't watch before they quietly remove the show.
Episode 5 is good. The rest is kinda meh.
The blackwashing is unreal tho.
>one of the most pozzed things ever written
>noooo how is the show pozzed this is white genocide!
When did /misc/ get this stupid?
>random incel rage about /misc/
Calm down, dude.
it's even more pozzed than the source material.
Yes it was changed to reflect to more mutted british society of today.
The UK is 50% black? Since when?
Maybe they consider Arabs black
Pajeets aren't Arabs.
I agree that the show is pretty good, it's just a shame they had to push the usual shit into it. It could have been a 10/10 but will probably end up a 7 or 8.
>It could have been a 10/10 but will probably end up a 7 or 8.
I think this is the most accurate assessment of it.
I'm very on the fence about this show but congrats to Neil (totally not) Gayman. He finally got his subversive little comic book faithfully adapted.
I'll give him congratulations on the grounds that it wasn't deemed an immediate massive train wreck and that at the bare minimum has people talking.
A couple years ago I'd have told you The Sandman is unadaptable, that it would require too much time and effort to make dream sequences.
Honestly I'm just glad it happened.
The visuals are surprisingly good, as is the acting. Casting is okay except for the fact everyone is black except for the villains and Dream. Also, the swearing, female Anglican pastor getting help from a lesbian occultist was such a prottie moment, I'm not even sure whether to feel amused or annoyed.
Are you me? I feel like I typed out these exact words.
Did you post them?
It's nowhere near a 7 or 8
>stuck-up dyke is a c**t to a random straight white guy who is just trying to be friendly
>revealed she beat her girlfriend
idk seems at least like a 6, it's not too far to jump from there to a 7 or 8
And they still tried to make her the "good" person considering the exchange with the waitress.
If they wanted to erase Constantine, I would've merged the character with the immortal English guy.
Shit idea
Guys I'm gay now. Desire turned me homo. Perfect casting.
Episode 10 and im so sick of Black person Rose dreaming of Drag Queens
as a big fan of the comics id say its pretty good
Imagine start seething because s character if from a difference race. Pathetic
Imagine typing coherent sentences
imagine being such a c**t you just have to insert tht shit everywhere
The cope is real
I said a man, any man. People know the name "John Constantine" who the frick is Johanna but a lame sex change for "The Message"
>who the frick is Johanna
They did it precisely because of this reason. They don't want to be associated with that character.
Then why not create a new character completely not named Constantine?
Maybe they have the rights for Johanna but not John.
>John Constantine
DC wouldn't let him be used.
Ditto for the demon triumvarate.
Unless the gods smile on us, and Sandman becomes so popular that we also get Books of Magic.
>Unless the gods smile on us
Cringe
>he doesn't care about the gods smiling on him
Careful anon: don't anger the gods.
I care only about the Most High.
the Almighty?
He's actually dead: blew away on a gentle breeze. Metatron is ruling Heaven now.
Cringe
*tips fedora*
Actually God abandoned creation in this Timeline and the seat of Heaven is now occupied by an asian schoolgirl
Writing the next Death Note manga?
Read Lucifier. Demons imprisoned Michael the Archangel and used the Demiurge inside of him to impregnate him with half-angels and she was one of them.
Okay, right. I actually read that stuff years and years ago. Something about a second and third creation, Ragnarok and so on. Wouldn't recommend.
I liked it.
This kind of thing becomes so much harder to enjoy once you've actually gotten into theology.
im not religious i just think its a fun story
>im not religious i just think its a fun story
Yeah, you are. You probably just don't hold particularly strong beliefs and your worldview is also rather uneducated, which I don't say in order to offend.
no im not
You don't see the world as a whole?
idk what that means but i dont wanna get in an argument. i just enjoyed the series.
It's shockingly well made but almost everyone is gay and the blasphemy gets on my nerves also.
I'm up to the episode just before he goes to hell
I'm not sure if it's worth watching tbh but it's made me re-read the comics at least
Am I the only one who noticed crosses in hell? What did they mean by that?
why would satan not crucify people?
Not sure if I'd like to get into a time bending argument like this but let's just say it's kinda silly considering what the cross represents.
Do you even know how many people were crucified over time?
The cross represents a torturous death.
>Do you even know how many people were crucified over time?
>over time
That's exactly why I'm not to keen to get into it.
Not keen to get into what?
History is offensive now?
I'm talking about theology and whether outside of time the symbol of the cross (however that would even manifest) always had the power, which I'd assume is likely.
Ohhhh yeah, I mean crossed sticks have power, much like a circle.
I imagine in Hell, Lucifer uses them for torture, though.
I want to hate it but i can't.
Suprisingly good casting and costumes.
John Dee was kinda weird, he was more like dollar general Joker instead of occult Chikatilo. Kinda dissapointing but whatever. Pretty nice adaptation of source material overall.
>Pretty nice adaptation of source material overall.
This. Source has been pozzed like crazy. It's a good adaptation.
Was anyone else missing the more global feeling of the sandman?
I remember the world basically falling into chaos when Dream was captured and yet in this we only see one black kid not waking up, we get a newspaper article about it but that's it
The stakes just don't really feel serious
>dogshit netflix adaptation
>"ummm actually it's like, good????"
why are they like this
It's completely exceeds expectations and also looks much better than in the clips they've released. Still, doubt I'd advice anyone to touch it. Just feels like an immoral thing to do.
Jesus Christ
Re-reading it now and frick they changed so much of the story, didn't even notice it
Examples?
Well maybe I'm exaggerating them a bit but
His mistress runs away with his black friend and the black friend is the one who trades with the demon
The black friend eventually dies
I remember the patheticness of the guy, he's way more dignified in the show
I haven't gotten up to it yet but I remember the comic style of the cain and abel scenes were very distinct, it just didn't get reproduced well in the show
>his mistress
>the black friend
Whose mistress? Who is "the black friend"?
Corinthian is a main antagonist. He is sort of responsible for Dream's imprisonment.
Morpheus is treated like a dumbass and wins the word game in hell thanks to Matthew which is all kinds of bullshit
Am I just misremembering it or is Lucien way more pathetic and unconfident than he is in the show?
Lucien is more local in the comic but is unchanged besides that personality-wise.
