I get some of the hate, I found Jar Jar got to be a bit much around the time they got to Tatooine - tone him down like... 30% and he'd be fine, but other than that it was a decent little sci-fi movie. I get it, it was New Hope again but now that we've seen what would happen if you literally just remake A New Hope and act like it's a new movie, Phantom Menace feels like a breath of fresh air.
Yeah but to be fair nearly everything's shot on digital now and you can get digital looking pretty good now (I miss film too I'm just saying.) The real problem was that the tech was just way too primitive and early especially when George shot Attack of the Clones. But hey, wanna make an omelette? Gotta break a few eggs
Honestly, Jar Jar is only really ever present for like 10min in the beginning of the film and then the Gungan vs droid scenes near the end. It's honestly not as bad as I remembered.
I would argue A New Hope is worse with like 25min at the beginning with R2D2 and C3P0 shenanigans.
